Since I was a kid, whenever I came to Mexico and we visited our family in Guadalajara, we usually took a trip to Chapala and that meant a trip to have birria on the way. This trip, my cousin told us we were going to have burritos in the morning and birria on the way back. Burritos? Really? Well, lets just say this place has to be the new tradition. The burritos were amazing. We had a large group and so I got to try a few. The lengua is their specialty but I have to say that my wife's chicharron was the best one. Because I had been eating so much protein I ordered the cocido and they gave me a huge amount of meat but what i really wanted was the vege's. It did NOT disappoint. They gave me 3 home made flour tortillas which I was not going to eat so someone in my group went and got some butter and ate the tortillas with butter. Looked like they were very happy! You can't order one burrito, most of the group ordered two or three burritos which is awesome so you can try different flavors. Try the chicharron! This is a walk up style cafe so you get in line and order what you want, pay then go sit down. We also picked some desserts and cafe de la olla. It was amazing and they do let you go back up and refill your drink. The desserts were delicious too: they had arroz con leche, flan and Jericalla which is a cross between flan and creme brulee. As mentioned you seat yourself after you have ordered and paid and they have an outside area to order ToGo. The restrooms were very clean and there is an outside seating area too. Don't forget to go to the salsa bar for salsa, chili and other condiments. Several family members asked if we could go back!

Burrito de chicharrones en salsa verde y burrito de costillas de puerco.

Near the airport, open 24 hours, food is ready to make whether you want a plate, taco, or burrito. Hits the spot after a long late flight. Aguas frescas, plenty of soda options and some beer options available.

Great spot when heading toward El Centro de Chapala the consistency of the cheese thick and chewy.

Omg... I had a Chile relleno, arroz con leche, flan, and a cafe de olla... all the food I tried was great. The flavors were exquisite no too oily, sweet all just right.

There are just 2 cafes in Chapala, but they are definitely not set up for people to stay a while. And their Internet just sucks! So I traveled all the way over here with the hopes of finding a better place. It's my first time here, and after just 10 minutes, I think that I have found that place. Firstly the cafe is expansive, with plenty of tables and very comfortable chairs for people to sit. Here there are real outlets to plug in your laptop, and really great WiFi so far. I really needed to find a place like this where I can get stuff done, as well as, enjoy a frapuchino and chocolate muffin. The caramel frapuchino that I ordered was around $70 and it's the centi size, quite delicious. We'll see how long this frappuchino takes me, because I usually try to work 8 - 10 hours.

Our adopted home town, Bellingham WA, has coffee offering ranging from standard to artisan. Cafe Grano Cafe (I know, is it "Coffee Grain Cafe" or is it ""Cafe Coffee Grain" - languages are funny) is as fine an artisan coffee house as I've experienced. Delicious mochas and lattes with fine coffee art, tasty pastries and cakes, and bins of in house roasted coffees to take home for tomorrow. A fellow northwesterner here reviewed the service critically. It wasn't "American standard" for us either, but we came here to chill, and the cadence was fine to us. Accidentally missing an order can happen anywhere and it's always discomforting. Ours was handled nicely and we left delighted and refreshed.

Que Chulada de maíz prieto…read more As a big fan of Vicente 'Chente' Fernandez I'm so thankful I was able to visit his rancho, but also it's a must to stop by to visit his store and restaurant. We went Sept 2024 and thought the hours were until 4 p.m. Once we walked to the gate noticed a crowd standing around but no one asked if we'd be able to enter. I kindly asked the groundkeepers if they'd allow us to pay our respects to Chente as we traveled from Northern CA. They did go ask for permission and allowed us all to enter. They did ask us if we're able to donate as it was almost 4 p.m and after their normal business hours. Our family donated and noticed few in the crowd did also. Upon entering the gates you'll see a statue of our Vicente, alot of beautiful flowers, his horses and different garden decorations. It's so peaceful and there is a life size replica of Vicente you're able to take pictures with. Vicente is buried nearby and music was playing. We paid our respects and to your right is his guitar shaped Pool. Behind the Pool you'll see different type of animals and there is a horse stable. We thanked the gentleman again and made our way to Vicente's store. Give yourself enough time to visit the store as there was a big crowd and buses of tours as well. The employees are very friendly and we did ask to taste two different tequilas. I bought one bottle and it really is smooth. Next door is Chente's restaurant and everything we ordered was delicious. It was a hot day and we ordered a pitcher of agua de jamaica. They're very friendly and there was a live mariachi. Although they did charge $20 per song it was worth it. We ordered carne asada, camarones, quesadillas, y pescado. Everything was delicious and you can't help but notice all the personal touches Vicente has all around his restaurant. Do give yourself plenty of time as traffic is heavy from Guadalajara at times and know that it's complete my free to visit Vicente's rancho. Over all we were pleased to have seen everything up close and plan on going back again.
