The tearoom is super basic, just 6 diff types of indifferent sandwiches like tuna, BLT, egg, prawn etc and a soup (which was tomato basil on the day we were there and was hearty and quite delicious). There are also a good variety of drinks but that is it! Apart from the soup, everything else is cold and the dessert quality was quite indifferent too (specifically the lemon curd cake - would not get this from here). That being said, the actual experience of walking thru the village and seeing first hand how people lived in the Scottish highlands from 1700s onwards was quite revealing. We were lucky to visit on a day the re- thatching of the grass roof on one of the huts was happening and the peat fire was on, so could ask a lot of questions from the re-enactors. Breathing in the peat fire was an especially eye opening experience as I realized first hand how breathing in that heavy carbon filled air in that enclosed space would have contributed to an average life expectancy of around 35 years (never mind if you were asthmatic!). I also loved the gypsy encampment and the tradesmen shops from the 1930s thru to the 50s. Apparently the shops were moved here and so they are not just recreations. There's also video and or audio-visual presentation that create an interactive visit, and for the latter, just look for big buttons to press on the wall while the videos run in a continuous loop. Oh also because it's a fairly big outdoor museum, there is a £1 donation which gets you in a truck which drives you around, so check timings for that if you have a limited time. I def enjoyed my visit, but will eat in town or elsewhere before coming here again.

However, we still enjoyed touring the property and learning about its rich history from our wonderful tour guide, I wish I could remember the young man's name as he did a great job with answering all the questions people had and still getting through everything at a nice pace. I was driving and unable to really enjoy them at the distillery but they gave me take home bottles and I enjoyed them back in our hotel room. I would definitely recommend making this one of your stops if your in the area! I can't wait to come back and enjoy them on site next time

Luckily, I was not disappointed. There is plenty of car parking space and the way in is well signposted. You can also walk around the beautiful flower garden or enjoy a coffee in their coffee shop after the one hour distillery tour. As far as I know there is only one type of tour and in the end you can taste a 10 year old (sherry cask) and their major reserve (5-8 years). I paid £5 entry fee and it was money well spent. Jane our tour guide was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. We were only a small group and that's good. I think tours start every hour. The Glen Grant distillery was founded by the Grant brothers James and John (I think) and has been recently taken over by Campari. Actually, their main export market is Italy and other European, Asian and American countries and less the Uk. We were shown around the Mash and Fermentation room, the still house, warehouse and bottling area. Best is you look around yourself as I don't want to spoil the fun of exploration. Their selection is limited and most of their 5.5 million bottles are exported. They sell the Major Reserve (bourbon cask) and 10 year old (sherry cask) @ 40%. Then they have some limited editions, which were bottled for anniversary occasions like the 25yr and 30 yr olds. Not to forget the 50 year old that goes for £8000 a bottle. It's a lovely, clean, all around speyside distillery for an affordable price and well worth the visit. (it also seems that for the tasting session they don't limit you to a drum only considering that a few people in my group took far more than expected ;-) )

It is very easy to access the venue and parking is available nearby. I have been to various events at the IronWorks since it opened. The venue attracts a variety of different bands/singers, some of which are very well known. Tickets are reasonably priced. The size of the venue makes it feel intimate without feeling too crowded. There was only once occasion that I have been to the venue where I felt there were too many people in the main concert hall. There is a good bar with a great selection of drinks and prices are not too bad, which they sometimes can be in music venues. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Inverness is small ("wee" in the vernacular) and no one should expect collections of the caliber of…read morethe Met, Louvre or even LACMA but in addition to temporary touring exhibitions, this facility hosts the Highlander history in art, crafts, music and weaponry. Whiskey will not be found here even though it's tributes are worthy. This assemblage merely hints at the greatness of the Celt, Viking and Highland peoples and encourages further study on your leisure. One item I found of particular interest were the gold neck torcs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torc) ancient warriors wore not only as a symbol of their rank within their community but also a potentially lucky block to a neck-chop sword hack. This is a land with a troubled past. That's probably why they invented scotch. You won't spend much time here but time spent here is time well spent. Dig it? Small but perfectly formed,…read more Inverness was my first taste of Scotland and it was surprising and wonderful. Inverness Museum and Art Gallery is a must visit in the city. As it's unlikely to be torrential sunshine it's a perfect spot to wile away the hour or so. A really simple and informative exhibition with some really effective interactive touches marking it fun for all the family. I very much enjoyed the taxidermy. If you're a stuffed beast enthusiast, you'll find yourself right at home here. The Art Gallery was in the middle of a reshuffle so was closed during my visit, so add a bit extra time for some highland art. Go get your learning on and have a visit.

Interestingly, its now owned by Diageo which is known for their Johhnie Walker Blended Whiskey. The distillery is located near fresh spring water and abundant peat from the nearby bogs. It is also the highest distillery in Scotland, sitting in the mountains of the Highlands. The history dates back to the late 18th Century and though its changed owners multiple times you still get a deep sense of tradition. They have aging barrels stained black from generations of whisky sitting around as decoration. 30 Year Old: 11 quid a dram, they told me they are never going to use the specific combination of barrel, temperature, timing so this batch was very special. I finished it so much the glass looked like it was brand new when I gave it back. There's also a large giftshop with clothing, accessories, home goods, foods, and of course a multitude of different Whiskys. They also had an interesting "bottle your own" 12 year with custom label for 130 pounds.

This was a good decision as you never know how long your journey will take while traveling throughout the various parts of Scotland. They have a tasting room inside and many interesting offerings to explore. The prices may seem high at first but it's because they are pouring a lot more than the usual 25ml pour. While they have a lot of flight options, we chose to build our own with options that are only available at the distillery. Why try something you can get elsewhere. I love that they were paired with chocolate. That really set the experience a part. I wish they served smaller portions so you could try more, but it was a good experience and we appreciated the knowledgeable staff!
