If you want to have one heck of a good time this is a MUST for visitors and locals alike. With a bus that fits up to 14 people, the Cajun Food Tour is great for large groups too, which is what we did. The tour is about 3 hours but the time flies by as the tour guide goes into history about the area, the food and the origins! The food on the tour differs depending on the season but no matter when you go it NEVER disappoints! Our group got the pleasure of tasting sausage gumbo, pulled pork grilled cheese, a fried shrimp poboy, boudin and king cake! We ended the tour with happy full bellies a knowledge of the culture enriched food we ate and a great memory filled with fun and good food!

We had an absolutely amazing tour with Marie; the time flew by! The food was to die for - we had the best donut of my entire life and until now, I didn't think King Cake could be yummy! My husband is still drooling over the Nunu's sausage and chicken patty. And have no fear vegetarians and vegans - there are plenty of options. I loved the battered and fried veggies (with ranch!) the most! And it was so much more than food; Marie is full of interesting historical facts and stories! Ten stars!

We had a great time this afternoon eating our has through Lafayette LA with Marie from Cajun Food Tours. This is the first food tour that I have been on where you loaded onto a bus, but Marie knows all the local spots and knows that she has to get people to the very best places in town to share her passion and commitment to the very best Cajun food in the community. I feel that I have experienced a side of the community that I would not have experienced otherwise, meeting the people who are committed to the fine crafted food. We stopped at five different locations at each location we were able to experience at least one food that is unique to the area. Marie has a number of different tour routes so you could take this tour more than once and experience totally different food options. In addition to introducing us to great food, Marie is very knowledgeable about the history of Louisiana and the Cajun people. She is great at using the time driving from one location to another telling you about the history of the food and the people. I would recommend joining one of her tours when you are in the area.

    Oyster and alligator.... YUM

This was my first food tour and won't be my last! I learned so much history about Louisiana and enjoyed a variety of different Cajun foods. Highly recommend!! Make sure you bring all your friends/ family and a big appetite!

My wife and I were visiting from California and were very excited about a food tour that highlighted authentic Cajun food and its history. As excited as we were, we were not disappointed and the tour lived up to our expectations. We were the only people not from Louisiana on the tour bus, and that in itself was a fun experience. We were able to talk to locals about their experience with each type of food and learn about the history from our guide Jay. The variety of foods was excellent as well as the variety of venues. Everything from a bare bones (but excellent) shrimp boil to a supermarket to a fancier family restaurant. We have been in New Orleans for two days now and although we are enjoying the amazing restaurants in NOLA it seems that we keep comparing everything we are eating to what we experienced on the tour.

Put on your stretchy pants and get ready to spend almost four hours enjoying the tasty cuisine that makes this part of Louisiana so unique. This is a bodacious tour! Marie, enthusiastic owner and guide, has developed, and continues to develop good relationships with local eateries--big and small, famous and soon to be famous. After picking us up in a very, very comfortable tour bus--big comfy seats, double coolers (one for water, another for "must be refrigerated items" we might pick-up), we ate our way through the city--Keelers, Earl's, Bon Temps Grill, Old Tyme Grocery, Johnson's Boucherie, Jammin Java and Dax. Between stops, Marie, shared Acadian history and stories about the locals, including Thibodeaux and Boudreaux. If you take the expression" Laissez les bon temps rouler" seriously, put your appetite in Marie's capable hands--you won't be disappointed! www.cajunfoodtours.com

At Johnson's Boucaniere, we toured the smokers and ate a delicious pulled pork grilled cheese. Mr. Wallace even made us paper boats!

If you are going to do anything in Lafayette, take this tour! My group had a blast! Marie is the perfect tour guide, and we went to a variety of fun places, not just restaurants, but always with yummy food. The tour is well-paced, the history was wonderful to learn, and it gave me a new appreciation for the Cajun culture. Marie made everyone feel welcome, everything was perfectly organized, and she was so fun to be around. I have never been on a food tour before, and now I am hooked. You will love it!

Stop #5 is labeled "Call Avery Island"; it has some steps, but you don't have to go up if you don't want to. I didn't see any elevators in that area. There are screens at each stop with videos about the area, and in the storage area, you can press a button to smell the peppers ,fun and interactive! The tour is easy walking and not crowded, especially if you go after Christmas. Guided Tours: * If you want the guided tours, you need to book at least 2 weeks in advance (according to the Tabasco website). * I wish I had booked because they teach you some recipes. * The bulletin we received said 3-day notice, so maybe it wasn't available due to the holidays when everything is busier. Distances: * Everything on Avery Island is less than a few miles apart, so you can easily walk or drive between the gardens, factory, restaurant, and store. Bonus Tip: * Download the Tabasco app for a guided voice tour with location recognition , it makes the experience even more fun and informative

Besides the beautiful grounds and water structures there are plenty of surprises you'll discover along the way we unfortunately didn't see any alligators or deer today but there were an abundance of birds, a few turtles basking in the sun and lots of squirrels scurrying through the grounds and giant oak trees.
