Well, I didn't have any cake or ale, but I did have a delicious meal here. The rustic, Italian looking restaurant is cozy and has great service. We were seated, offered drinks straight away and given some salted almonds to snack on. I ordered the mushroom gnocchi with rocket and it was delish. Hubby had the pork with fennel and quince and that was fantastic as well. Great place to come for a nice meal in Sorrento. read more
A great little kitchy cafe that's housed in the old Chinese resturarant in Sorrento. They got us over the line and in the door by having breakfast till 3 PM on a Sunday. My baked eggs were quite tasty, could have done with a herb or two to make them really pop. My partner in crime had scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was heaven, a beautiful thick cut piece of bacon that had been crisped up like crackling. His seeded toast was divine. I was really impressed as well by the quality of the coffee they were pumping out. Blend by 7 Seeds and was done beautifully. For those not having breakfast, they had a divine array of cakes and treats, which the second I looked at them, I felt type 1 diabetes coming on. They looked amazing. I'll be back next time I'm in Sorrento. read more
This has to be the best place to get a meal in Sorrento. By far. Despite the odd name. Cakes and Ale feature lots of local fresh produce and seafood - can't go wrong with seafood on Sorrento. A few of us attended and had mussels in tomato sauce, roasted veggie salads and rose. A nice relaxing end to the afternoon. read more
I found this cute little place in Sorrento on Yelp! The name is kind of odd - Cake and Ales - for what the restaurant is which is essentially a bistro. There is a lovely atmosphere inside. It is open and light and friendly. I had the special of the day which was a scallop heavy seafood pie. However this pie had no pastry - instead it was more of a casserole topped with thinly sliced potatoes. Which was all very tasty but I do think it would have been more enjoyable with pastry. read more

Great Melbourne coffee. Delicious orange cake too. Went back for lunch and it was delish too. Will be back - if only they had tables outside, I'd be here more often (I'm often out with the dogs). read more

Perfect food, wonderful cakes and ... wine! We recommend the trout almondine, or the snapper (depending on specials), the O'Connor beef, the seafood pie and the mussels. Leave room for dessert! It's a little expensive but there's a great range price-wise if you are budget conscious. read more
