Sent 2 pictures of how I wanted cake and supplied all the decorations to go on cake. When picked up cake it was a whole different color. Needless to say I was appalled. Attempted to communicate with the owner of Emily's Cakehouse and she dismissed all of my concerns and proceeded to say she chose that color because she thought it looked better. Cake was yellow gold! The cake was $300 and offered me no resolution or compensation. This cake did not go with any of my baby shower decor. The owners response was "it must be your first time ordering a cake cause I worked hard and you can take it or leave it." Not once did she attempt to communicate with me and ask me if she had any questions.

I decided to order again for her 4th birthday and I was quite a price that had increased by 50%. I was shocked by the price, but I understand that inflation has impacted us all. I knew that we were satisfied with the service before, so I was ok playing $180. When we picked the cake up, we noticed that it was collapsing, but thankfully it made it until the birthday party. She also told me (at pickup and not before) that she made the Afro puffs out of styrofoam. Why would you put styrofoam on an almost $200 cake. At that point there was nothing I could do, it was already done. When it came time to serve the cake, my hands were dyed black from having to remove the styrofoam and it peeled off half of the top layer of icing. We started to eat the cake and my husband came to me and whispered that he had a long hair in his slice. I later had two other guests mention that they had hair in their slice. I was absolutely mortified and infuriated. I sent a respectful message with pictures to the owner/decorator and her solution was to offer a free cake for the next time I needed one. Umm...no thank you! This cake was inedible due to the hair. It's like playing Russian Roulette with each slice. Like I said, inflation has affected us all, and we spent quite a bit to have a cake of such poor quality.

I parked under a tree & entered around the corner. Lots of pastry selections with coffee selections as well. I took my time as a lot looked yummy. I chose a savory pizza bread which had the choice of Pepperoni or just cheese. I chose the Pepperoni. Saw a Cruffin so I asked the clerk what it was filled with & she said Strawberry. Chose that & a featured Lavender VaLatte with Oat Milk. The clerk put the pastries on an aluminum tray lined with a wax paper sheet but I had her bag my Cruffin. She proceeded to make my Lavender Latte & I saw her pouring regular whole milk in the frother so I asked if that was Oatmilk & she stopped herself & said "No it's not. Sorry, I didn't write the order down" or something to that effect. I sat down by the one soda while she made my drink which was smooth & subtly lavender. The pizza bread didn't have a chewy bread texture and was soft. My friend arrived and ordered a large Americano, a Cruffin, Tart -pastel de nata & savory tomato/cheese pizza twist Danish pastry. She loved the pastel de nata as it reminded her of Portuguese tarts. We sat on the wooden tables with benched seating & chairs. The sofas are soft but one fabric chair had stains on it. There are other small tables & barstools with counter seating. Nice natural light flows in. Bathrooms were clean & additional seating was outside on a deck. I could see a nice party outside except the train runs across the street so that could be an issue as they blow their horns coming thru. They sell merch & preserved jellies & honey too.

if you havent stopped by william's confectionery you are MISSING OUT!…read more breakfast! yum! lunches! yum! desserts YUMMMMM! service is always fast & friendly. nice atmosphere and you can tell the "locals" treasure this spot. first time trying lunch (hard to pass up those light fluffy biscuits with breakfast - upgrade from toast for .50 last time i asked. thursday lunch had pork chops, smothered (and i think fried or grilled, i quit reading after SMOTHERED!) came with rice & gravy, greens and pineapple casserole. it was an insult to the chop for a knife to be provided. although this chop was huge, and thick, it was FORK tender! gravy was delicious too, not that gloppy dark brown stuff, but nicely textured, extremely tasty homemade sauce. greens - perfection. i wasnt sure about the pineapple casserole, it wasnt something i was familiar with. seemed to be a combo of pineapple chunks, shredded cheese with a crunchy topping. sounded like an unusual combo, but it was tasty. always fun to find something new. grabbed EXTRA greens to go with my leftover pork chop along with a raspberry bar & my fave chess pie for hubbie & i to share later.

The positives first: the food was hot, fresh, and clearly made to order, which we always appreciate. The display case was filled with beautiful, tempting desserts that definitely caught our attention. If you have a sweet tooth, that alone might make the stop worthwhile. The breakfast menu leans toward classic, home-style staples--pancakes, hash browns, eggs, sausage--simple and familiar comfort food. While everything was prepared well, nothing particularly stood out or felt unique compared to other traditional breakfast spots. Service during our visit was a bit slow and didn't feel especially warm or attentive. The staff appeared to be family-run, which often adds charm to a place, but we didn't experience the kind of welcoming, lively atmosphere you might expect from a family-style restaurant. It seemed like everyone may have just been having a long day. My husband usually prefers Tex-Mex or breakfast tacos, and since I don't indulge in bacon and eggs very often, I tend to look for a breakfast spot that really wows us when we do go that route. While Williams delivered solid, made-to-order food, it just didn't quite "hit it out of the park" for us this time. That said, every restaurant can have an off morning, and others may have a different experience--especially given the positive reviews that brought us in.

I have reached a point in life where I'm downright offended when I spend good money on mediocre…read moresweets. If I'm handing over my hard-earned dollars, I expect happiness. I expect joy. I expect a little dance from my tastebuds. And thankfully, that's exactly what I found at Art House Bakery. The first thing that struck me wasn't the cake--it was the woman behind the counter. I'm not sure if she was the owner or not, but she was an absolute delight. The kind of person who makes you feel genuinely welcome the second you walk through the door. Not customer-service nice. Truly happy-you're-here nice. While perusing the sweet treats, I noticed pa filled with assorted cake slices. She explained that they were made up of cakes that might not have been perfectly level, didn't quite meet their decorating standards, or were a day old. Friends... These containers were $5. FIVE. DOLLARS. Naturally, I bought two because I possess both common sense and a sweet tooth. One container had two vanilla slices and a chocolate slice. The other had vanilla and red velvet. I made it all the way to my car before my self-control failed me and I took a bite. YUM. The cake was moist, flavorful, and had that unmistakable made-from-scratch quality that separates good bakeries from grocery store cake pretending to be special. What impressed me even more was what happened afterward. I shared some with one of my daughters the next day, and by then the cake was at least three days old. It was still delicious. And that speaks volumes. Any bakery can impress you with a cake that came out of the oven six hours ago. A truly talented bakery produces cakes that maintain their texture, flavor, and integrity days later. Eventually the whole family sampled pieces, and every single person agreed: this place is fantastic. Between the warm welcome, the incredible value, and cake that made me question whether I should have purchased a third container, Art House Bakery absolutely won me over. I'm thrilled to know there's a spot in New Braunfels ready to handle my sweet tooth whenever the need arises. And if Marie Antoinette would have said, "Let them eat cake," and meant Art House Bakery, it might have ben forgivable.

So I got a piece to go. It was everything a cake should be - moist and flavorful and soft buttery goodness in every bite! I didn't taste any chemicals like I do in store-bought or box cakes. This tasted like granny's kitchen from above. It makes you want to sing! I had to wait for the taco place to be open again to call them to place an order. I was working so I talked my mom into going and offered to buy her taco if she went and picked up one for me too. She didn't need to know I just wanted cake. I called and paid over the phone. They ran out of the cinnamon vanilla so I had to settle for the red velvet. I don't really like red velvet but thought if it is the same person that made the cinnamon vanilla, then I'm sure my taste buds would approve. My mouth was salivating and ready for it. Well ... I have nothing to report because they forgot to put my slice of cake in the bag!!! I know dietary warfare when I see it! I couldn't leave work so the lady gave me a refund. My obvious question was, when will you have more? She didn't know. Huh?? She felt bad so she graciously gave me the name of the bakery that provides them with cake. A bakery? And it's local??? Well that was my next call and I got the kindest lady named Carolyn over the phone. She kindly listened to my sob story and I felt like I made a friend. I ended up pre-ordering a vegan cake for my mom's birthday. My mom's not able to eat most desserts so I was grateful that they had a dark chocolate cake to offer. I absolutely loved meeting Carolyn in person. She was as fun and sweet as the homemade icing they make. It was incredible! My mom loved it. You would never know it was vegan. In the mean time, I still was waiting for the cinnamon vanilla that was unforgettable. So the following week I ordered a whole cake for Thanksgiving. So glad I had a reason to order a whole cinnamon vanilla cake and that I had people to share it with. I might have eaten the whole thing. Guys, it's THAT good!! And it was a hit!! I should have had their business cards because everyone wanted to know where this bakery was. Good thing I didn't fib and say that I baked it. Hahaha! JK! But it was just like I remembered it. Like heaven and rainbows in your mouth. I decided that this place will one day be my goto for a wedding cake! They have such a cute little shop that also offers delicious cookies and cupcakes and yummy truffles ... What a hidden treasure! Unfortunate things happen in life for a reason. If the lady hadn't forgotten my cake, I may have never discovered this special place. They are my people now.
