The fishing guides are awesome. The cabins are nice, the nights are cool and breezy. Now for the bad... for dinner I ate the shrimp pasta Alfredo and my stomach got pissed! I became so bloated I was in pain. I don't know what happened but I couldn't sleep that night. The morning after we ate breakfast at 5:30 am eggs bacon and a biscuit with juice or coffee was not bad but not that impressive it was okay. They are friendly and easygoing. Weather and conditions are uncontrollable of course. Once we went when the weather was pretty bad and the guide was honest enough to say "I'll go if you want but it's gonna be a hard day of fishing in these conditions. We were only asked to pay for food and lodging that time. Oh- They also filet your catch for you at the end of your tour. The food they serve is amazing and the service is wonderful If you are an angler of any caliber this is right up your alley. They host businesses and have a "night boat" that goes out overnight- but I haven't done that.

The trolling motor was remote controlled so he was able to allow us to fish out of the front or the back without someone in the way. We never touched the live shrimp. (He said there was no point in all of us getting smelly.) We never had a chance to get the fish off the hook. He was on the spot and had it taken care of before we could say anything. I hate fishing and had the time of my life! He kept in contact with other captains throughout the day so we always knew where the best fishing was. Very polite and such a people person. I can't wait to go back next summer! (Doesn't hurt the fish is amazing that you get to take home...and organic!)

The couches were comfy for post-fishing lounging, the beds were comfy, the kitchen well supplied, everything clean and fresh. With all the visitors, they must need them all. We came back the next day and arrived about 30 min before sunrise. They are very strict about not entering before sunrise. As early as we were, there were still about 8 cars ahead of us. It's like the land rush when it opens with people rushing out to the docks to claim their spots. They day we went, the crabbing and shrimping was not that great. Some around us caught better than others but the general opinion was that the day was slow. Even with it as slow as it was, we had a great time, caught some stuff, even a fish fish but bo keepers. Will definitely be back. Just get there early!

There is a road that runs next to a canal for access to several ponds and marshes. through several areas. Fishing, birds and alligators. The good , big parking area , restaurant , and on site motel , restrooms close to the fuel island. Such a good ideal. I can't count the times I've stopped to fuel up , and was in a rush to get to the bathroom. The bad , not many fuel islands . The rooms aren't quiet , or dark. I wish they would put some darker curtains in the rooms . It's hard to get good sleep with all the light coming in the room. Also stay away from the rooms on the fuel island side , unless you like hearing trucks pull in all throughout the night. Come to think of it the other side isn't that quiet either , when the train comes through . Now the restaurant, it'll get you by in a pinch. I like a good chicken friend steak as much as and red blooded America man , but this one just isn't good. It looked good , it was just more breading than steak. Come on your almost in Texas at least get this right. It's not hard , use quality meat , you've already got the gravy right.
