The lab staff are very approachable and helpful if I need any additional explanations. I never have to wait very long except for now with the covid situation creating the need for more bloodwork analysis. This is totally understandable. The people who draw my blood on the whole are very nice and personable and give me confidence in their abilities. Therefore, I am more relaxed when the needle is inserted. Hardly feel anything. Mask, sanitizer and social distancing is employed throughout the building and lab. Overall, I think they do a very good job.

The girl working there was really nice and especially apologetic but she couldn't find my vein. She kept on talking to it like it was a separate entity from me, finally after two tries she asked one of the directors to take over. I was sitting there with cotton balls and tapes on both arms, but it didn't really hurt so I didn't mind. I had giggled a couple of times as she talked to my arm over and over again. Aside from my hiding veins I would totally recommend the third floor laboratory for their services, the hospital itself is so aesthetically pleasing and staff here is amazing.

While I understand the professional nature of these procedures, I was uncomfortable being asked to undress and have my body handled by an unknown male technician. Even in a medical setting, I feel it is important to be aware of the gender of the person performing the procedure so that women can make an informed decision about their comfort levels. I have had a monthly standing order for bloodwork for the better part of 20 years. For reasons I cant explain, today is the first time I tried booking an appointment for bloodwork. Typically, I make a spontaneous decision to get my blood taken, and then I wait forever in a crowded waiting room. The reason I chose South Calgary for this appointment booking is because I had a fasting blood appointment, and the only thing standing betweeb myself and breakfast is this bloodwork being completed. Also, i am getting this done before work, so I am imvested in having this done quickly so I can get into the office. When i walked in, there was no grabbing a number. I walked up to the counter and they took my requisitions right away. The wait from there was another 15 minutes to be called. However, I am not complaining, because it is typically much, much longer. South Calgary has a lot of staff, which is fantastic! I was processed quickly and they were constantly processing patients.

They don't have in the system the form I sent the day before. What a waste of time. Had to redo it all over again. Borrow a phone. Then it was 15 minutes of questions on the phone. Usually what the technician asks when you go for a mammogram. Did anyone in your family ever had breast cancer etc. etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they ask the same questions over again when I go.
