Called Freedom Financial to see about a refi since i got the runaround from my existing mortgage…read morecompany. Come to find out the reason mortgage lenders like my mortgage company shy away from the refi I was looking for was because I wanted to pay half of my loan off and only finance 60k. The loan officer I spoke to explained I wouldn't see a very good interest rate with such a low loan remainder no matter who refinanced my loan. He also told me to check with my bank where my chances would be better. Appreciated the honesty and directness.

In May, I began my loan process through Matt Hughes of Freedom Financial Services. 3 months later,…read moreI was in tears in another mortgage broker's office begging for help. I had an original close date of June 28th that Matt promised me it would happen if I used him as my loan officer. Matt promised me from mid-June that I would be clear to close within days. Well days turned into months and still no close. Meanwhile, Matt blatantly ignored my calls, voicemails, and most of my emails. This refusal to have communication with me also cost me 1% on my loan rate because he did not respond to my calls and emails about locking in my rate. He refused to call me back and when I would ask about the status of my loan we were again "days from being clear to close". I finally got Matt to answer a call by calling from a different number that he would not recognize. I was given several close dates that came and went. The incorrect forms were sent to my insurance twice and when I called Freedom to rectify the situation, they had no idea what was going on with my loan or what I was talking about. Eventually I began to get the picture that closing with Freedom Financial would never happen. I went to a different company. We promptly called the title company to check that status. They said that since they hadn't heard from Freedom for 3 months, they closed my file and assumed the sale had fallen through. When Matt from Freedom received my letter to transfer my file to another company he said "We only need a couple of things to be able to close your loan purchase and can certainly do it this week - but I just got a request to transfer your file to another lender... are you sure that you don't want to close with us?". We transferred our file and our new loan officer and he informed us that our loan had been "suspended" meaning that we were not going to be closing because we were not going to be getting approved. My new loan officer stated that it was basically a denial. Matt let us believe for 3 months that we would be closing any day, and all along our file had been suspended. There was never an indication that anything was wrong with my loan. Matt seriously affected our lives for many months with complete disregard for the repercussions it had on us. As a happy ending to the story, our new mortgage company got us approved and closed within 7 business days.

When we bought our house in Oklahoma, last year in May, I asked if we could make 2 payments a month…read moreat half payment each time PLUS extra to be applied to the principal. So I paid the first month in full before it was due then in the same month made the split payment plus for the following month. The first two months, no problem. Then they totally screwed the account up. Suddenly they didn't know what to do with the money I was sending and they sent me a late notice. I called them and was told they would notify the department that handle the payments and it would be handle within a week. Three months later they still haven't got it straight. Talked to numerous people for several weeks and still nothing. Finally in December they said okay wee should have it straightened out before the end of the month but instead of making your payments early and splitting them, make one payment. Well, I sent my payment the end of Dec for Jan and guess what? They still didn't process it right. I called them Jan 7 and they said they had received it but had not applied it yet. Called a few days later because my bank showed it had cleared. MSF said they were working on it. While waiting I get a letter saying that they had sold my mortgage effective Feb 1. Waited a week and called again same thing, they are working on it. Asked to speak to the supervisor/manager, he said he would look in to it and call me back the on Monday. Waited a week and still hadn't heard from him. Called Monday, he's heading into a meeting but would call after. No word from him by Wed so I called. Now it is Feb 5 and he tries to dodge the call, finally he takes it and tells me that they finally had it straighted on the night before. Now during all the calls in Jan, not one time did they say anything about selling the account. The call on Feb 5, still doesn't say anything about it. I contact the new mortgage company, Feb 6, and MSF told them I never made the payment for Jan. Hade the broker that arranged the loan with MSF, she's flabbergasted and says she'll contact them. Their reply to her, we sold the account so are not allowed to contact me about the account, had closed the account on their end, and would not notify the new mortgage holder about me already paying Jan payment plus refused to send any documents showing my payment history or how they had applied the money. AVOID THESE CROOKS AT ALL COST.
