I visited here around 3:45pm on Tuesday afternoon. When pulling up, I could hear gunfire from outside. At the entrance, you must have your firearm holstered or in a case to be let in as you have to be buzzed inside. I assume this is for safety precautions. I ended up getting a year membership for $250 as my last one expired. As part of signing up, I had choice of getting a free hat or T-shirt. I chose the hat. Being a member gives you some discounts and perks as well. I got some targets and utilize my own firearm to practice on the range. I did received some assistance from the staff to understand what error I was making. The staff were friendly and helpful. --- I went again around 3pm on Friday afternoon and stayed about 1hr 15. The main reason was for me to try out different firearms. Since I have a membership, gun rental is only $5. Another plus is that the charge is one time and you can use any of the firearms and multiple with any additional charge. The normal price is $10. The only downside to gun renting is that you must use their bullets which are way overpriced. I left a gun store before coming here and bought a pack of 50 9mm bullets for $20. They charged me $35 for a pack of 9mm bullets. I don't necessarily agree with the fact that you have to use and buy their bullets if you're renting a gun. I feel like it should be either one or the other: gun rental fee or requirement to buy and use their bullets. They are the only indoor gun range in Greensboro, so they do have a monopoly for the area. I'll be back to make sure I make use of my membership. read more

Whenever I am in the area I like to stop by Calibers and get some range time in with some of my guns. They are very professional and friendly with me when I am here. I believe this place is one of the better ranges in this area. They always have a good amount of customers but I have never had to wait too long. Good range. Coming in during the week is best. Long lines on the weekend are to much for me. Staff is friendly and helpful. Membership will save you money even if you shoot only once every two to three weeks. The membership really is a great value. Bring your own ammo to same money, but if you need to purchase pistol ammo while at the Calibers it's available. The staff will help train you if requested. Concealed carry classes offered. Downside. 1) Range is limited to 25 yards, which is more then enough for the vast majority of pistol and PCC shooters, but shooting 50 yards or more is a fun challenge. 2) High power rifles not allowed. 3) additional shooting lanes would very help on weekends but..... 4) No seating in the range itself. First and foremost when dealing with anything relating to firearms is safety, and I felt nothing but safe while I was there. They are vet, first responder and active duty friendly and it's nice to be in a place that recognizes that. I was able to come in on a weekday around noon and there were several lanes* open so I was able to grab some targets and get shooting. I forgot my foamies at home but they offer over ear muffs for no charge, which was appreciated. They offer eye protection for almost nothing (I think I saw it was only $2 but I might be wrong.) The gentleman that checked me in was informative and friendly. The crowd had a decent spread of couples, individuals like myself, and law enforcement. As soon as I get my NC driver's license, I'm coming in for their CCP course that also includes three months of membership for $125. All in all, I'm into it and am going to rent some firearms before I purchase my concealed carry. read more

I signed up for the Concealed Carry Handgun permit class. My first time at this range with a newly acquired handgun was an absolute pleasure. I made sure to watch the video and sign the waiver before I arrived to speed up the process. I went to my assigned lane, #7, and proceeded to knock out the 30 round requirement. Then I got another target and got to know my new gun very well. I never felt rushed and all the staff were happy to answer my questions. I took the class -- I was dreading spending 8 hours on a Sunday learning what I already knew. Well I was very pleasantly surprised - I enjoyed nearly every minute of it and got to know a number of Greensboro residents I had not met before. I have been back regularly and rented a number of other guns to see what I want to get next. I have also run into friends - one was shooting next to me and neither of us realized until we stepped back to clean up spent shells. My advice - follow the rules. Treat everyone at the range the same, and remember, your life and the lives of others is at stake with every squeeze of the trigger. You are a safety officer from the moment you arrive until you leave. Ask questions - you'll hear back from the staff as well as many of the patrons. I can say this is one of the most welcoming to all places in the Triad. If you want to try your hand at shooting, go to Calibers - as long as you are not a felon, everyone's welcome! read more

This was my first time ever going to a gun range. This one is very close to where I live and I went with a coworker who recommended this place. I will have to say I had a great time there and was very surprised how nice the staff was and they where very helpful as well. Only complaint I have is that it was freezing inside there. They have all your gun needs there and they also rent guns there so you can try one out before you buy. They also have a full stock of Black Rifle Coffee on site with all the cups and gear that goes with it. Came here with my father and brothers one Sunday. This was my first time at the range and also, first time shooting a pistol. The place got packed quick. I mean, when we pulled in 10minutes before opening, it was only 3 others here. After going inside and waiting in line, the parking lot was full. My dad has a membership, so it was $10 for me because I came with a member. As a newbie, they make you watch an intro and safety PowerPoint that is set on repeat. I barely managed to sit and watch it. My ADD kicked in something terrible when folks were poking their head into the small room and standing outside the room conversing. After sitting through two rounds of the presentation, I went out, got a 9mm S&W, headphones thingy, and joined my family. I wear glasses, so I didn't need the safety glasses. I did buy an awesome zombie target. The targets were $1 each. Not bad at all. As I stood in my lane, I tried my best to recall what the hell I just read on the PowerPoint. I managed to remember most of the gun handling tips, but the kick was a beast. I asked one of the guys up front for help. I prefer the 1 on 1 to the video In the end, the place was clean, everything in order. I wish there was someone there to present the PowerPoint instead of staring at a screen. Or at least the option to close the door. The staff was very patient and helpful. This place also offers concealed license classes for $100. There's a total of 10 lanes, which will fill up quick on the weekend. There are restrictions on which guns and ammo you can bring, but I'm not certain what they are. They do have those restrictions posted up on the walls. read more

Have been to Calibers several times over the years. Since the new management took over the atmosphere is not as hospitable. Using the range is not as physically comfortable since the air exhaust system has been removed. This system kept smoke and "bad air" pulled down range away from the shooter. Not sure if management was too cheap to repair the system or why it was removed. It is too stuffy without the exhaust system. I am not even sure if it is legal to have an indoor range without the exhaust. When asked about the exhaust system, the employee says you can bring your own fan... NOT enjoyable anymore, will stay away. Go to Pro Shot in Rural Hall. Their prices are $30.00 for a MONTH per person but you can bring a guest. They DO HAVE an exhaust system. read more

Being a female, I've always been hesitant to learn to shoot. Kenny and his staff made me very comfortable and answered all of my questions and encouraged me all the way. I appreciate that they buzz people in and out of the door. If you don't have the proper ID, or if you might be under the influence know you will NOT be allowed to shot. The staff has the upmost respect for what they do and their obligation to keep their guests safe. I've met people from all walks of life that I would not of otherwise. I took my autistic son to this dump so he could fire his .22 rifle. While watching their rules and regs video, another customer came in and was asked to also watch the rules and regs video. My son completed the waiver form after finishing the video and we were put on the list for the next lane. Next thing I know, the customer who came in after us and sat down to watch the video was assigned a lane ahead of us. I let that roll off. After approximately 15 minutes waitIng for another lane, we finally got assigned lane 11. My son fired 40 rounds into the target (approx. 10 minutes). I tried to retrieve the target but the pulley motor was broken. I called for help but was told nothing could be done and that we'd have to wait for another lane. So, we packed everything up and went back out to wait. After another 5-10 minute wait, watching more customers be assigned lanes ahead of us, we decided to leave. I went back in to ask for a refund due to the inconvenience we had experienced (customer arriving after us assigned a lane before us, the faulty target pulley). I was told we could wait for another lane or receive a refund. BUT, (and this is the reason for a ZERO review) I would not be allowed to ever return!!!! Pathetic!!!!! Zero customer service!!!! Zero concern!!!! Don't waste your money!!!!! read more

I first joined Calibers last year while signing up for their Concealed Carry course. Even if you're not interested in CCW, the one day course is very informational especially if someone is not that knowledgable about firearms and firearm safety. Calibers is a very friendly, professional indoor gun range. The staff is very helpful and they have a large assortment of handguns to try if you are not sure what you want. Prices are very reasonable for ammo and other merchandise such as earmuffs, carry bags, etc. I usually go during the week but hardly ever have to wait for a lane. After joining your only expense is to buy a target which only costs $.50-1.00. If you enjoy handguns and target shooting you will like Calibers. I recently renewed my membership for another year and enjoy going every chance I get. read more

I've been coming to Calibers for over 10 years. Last week I purchased the Ruger 57 (great handgun) and took it to Calibers to get it dialed in. In the middle of my shooting, one of the employees pulled me off the line and said i was band from ever shooting there again??? I said "What?? Why??" He said "that round is not allow to be shot at this range (that's a big fyi for those of you that hasn't watched a training video in 10 years and have a FN 5.7 or bought the new Ruger 57)". From there I was like, "you got to be F**k'in kidding me". He said, "No, that's the rule." I'm a strong believer in rules but they should also be guided by common sense. And I just bought a 3 month membership that he wasn't going to refund to me until i started getting pissed. Talk about lack of loyalty to your long term customers. Anyway, the place hasn't been the same since they raised the prices from $10 to shot and $50 for 3 month membership to $20 to shot and $80 for 3 month membership. If I could leave a 0 stars I would. Came here to teach my in laws to shoot and get practice for thier concealed cary. My father in law not having been to a gun range in 30 years was open carrying two pistols in a safe position. Both guns were loaded and not chambered. The attendant at the door instructed him to place both guns in a box he was carrying. The attendant then took said box to the counter. When bigoted gentlemen at the counter opened the box he began yelling at my father in law that he had pointed a gun at him. My mother in law stepped in and tried to explain the situation. The aggressive gentleman proceeded to yell at my mother in law and then marched all of us to the parking lot where he continued to insult our intelligence and provoke us to action. Great impression to make on a woman who has never shot a gun before. This establishment showed just how ignorant and sexist they are. There are much nicer shooting ranges in the area take your business elsewhere. read more

Took my 70 year old, frail mother to get familiar with a gun (her request). She never held a gun before and had no clue what to do. John took the time to make sure she understood everything he was teaching her and he stayed with her until she was comfortable on her own.
