Always feels good to cross the boarder into California!! I love the new sign they've added.

Haven't had any problems crossing into Arizona from California because there's no actual border just a sign that says welcome to Arizona the Grand Canyon State. You can just keep driving. On the other side is the border stop from Arizona into California, where there's a structure of like an old mission style architecture that says Welcome California Agriculture Station, and it has lanes for cars and lanes for big trucks. It looks like the old Taco Bell, which is where I'm pretty sure Taco Bell got that idea. All the California missions are supposed to be like 30 miles from each other, but the closest mission to this structure is like almost 260 miles away. Mostly they will wave you through, but don't think that you will NEVER get stopped. I have been stopped and asked questions at least twice, years apart from each other, not that I ever had anything to worry about though. Just saying in case someone reading thinks they can always get waived through with something illegal, don't.

Drove through today, easy peasy. Everything went smoothly. I got scared. I almost missed the "Welcome to California" sign

Ahh, California. What some folks call the Nanny State, I would say they seem to get more things right, than wrong. But of course, we're coming from AZ after fifteen years. Where it's 110 degrees for four months a year and the AZ legislator only cares about social issues and tax breaks. Same temps as Palm Springs and Victorville btw. This it an Depression era, Art Deco style structure that looks like an old Taco Bell. Each lane has stop signs, but unless you're in a U-Haul, you'll never get stopped. We made the mistake once of getting behind one (see photo). The driver had to get out and remove all his plants, which they confiscated for bugs. They must of had Japanese beetles or something on them. Otherwise, it's easy peasy going through this border crossing. "Y'all come back now, ya hear!"

    Welcome to California!

Most of the crossings in the United States are rather boring and uneventful. There are no challenges or physical boundaries that prevent someone from traveling between the states. In fact, many state borders are nothing more than invisible lines on a map if there isn't a river that requires a tunnel or bridge. I drove through many of them to get to here including Georgia into Alabama and Alabama into Mississippi. On the other hand, Mississippi into Louisiana on I-10 is a bridge crossing but New Mexico into Arizona is not. Arizona into California, at least on I-10 crosses the Colorado River and you're on the Blythe-Ehrenberg bridge, https://www.yelp.com/biz/blythe-ehrenberg-highway-bridge-ehrenberg?hrid=BN-6qfd1j-z808e-xenZFg. For me, it was "Welcome to the Golden State" and that's it. I'll spend at least ten days in California before moving on. [Review 17527 overall - 324 in California - 1045 of 2022.]

    Welcome to Arizona

This border crossing is more than just a sign by the side of the road. This California/Arizona border is separated by a small section of the Colorado River. The state sign going into California is a simple blue sign with California poppies; the state flower. There is also this mission style set of archways to drive through. Unlike most state border crossings, this one is a stop. Luckily, there was no line as we approached. We barely made a CA rolling stop as the officer waved us theough. Driving into Arizona is completely different. There is no building or stop. There is only a sign (and the river). The sign for Arizona is more vibrant than the one for California. The sign is a colorful picture of the Grand Canyon. After all, Arizona is the Grand Canyon state.

Not sure what to write for a review on a border but it's flat open and you do not get stopped going from California to Arizona and usually do not get stopped from Arizona to California they just wave you through. Sometimes driving from Arizona to California if there aren't enough lanes open or there is a problem it can get pretty backed up trying to pass

Not the official border sign but a very welcoming one.

If you drive through HWY 10 from California into Arizona, you can miss the sign really quick. The sign is quite small. I was ready the second time around to capture the border sign.

Ask the Community - California Arizona Border

Cost of California boarder sign at Blyth?

    Nunya.

Do you need an id to pass boarder or can you just go thru?

Um, shouldn't you have you drivers license/ID with you since you're going across state lines??? Technically yes an ID is required.

    Is it still open?

The border between CA and AZ is open. You can still go from CA to AZ and reverse. If your asking about Border Patrol-they are considered an essential service and still open.

My disabled adult daughter must leave her long beach apt by March 31. I am currently in Phoenix. Can I wait until next week? or am I chancing a lock-down rule that would…

I live close to the border. There is no talk of closing the state border. The shelter in place rule allows for essential travel. We are gong to Arizona at the end of April. No problems. This is what I've heard about the trip: Be safe-fuel up in…

Anyone know if they are planning on closing state line?

I haven't heard anything about closing state borders. I wouldn't imagine they need to do this.

I did a long weekend trip to Palm Desert with the goal of visiting the Salton Sea. Originally, I…read moreplanned to loop the entire shoreline, but after talking with a ranger at the visitor center, I stuck to the east side and doubled back, which was definitely the right call. Our turnaround point was Salvation Mountain, right next to Slab City. Before going, I had read about Leonard Knight and the story behind the mountain, which honestly made the visit more meaningful. The dedication and message behind it are almost as interesting as the site itself. It is kind of amazing that the structure still stands today and is in such solid condition. The drive out was mostly fine, though hot and dusty, especially on a Saturday afternoon. I would recommend going earlier in the day if possible. The mountain itself looked better maintained than I expected. The colors were bright, and it was clear that ongoing work is being done to preserve it. I left a small donation since it felt like a meaningful effort to support. That said, it did not fully resonate with me. While I can appreciate the effort and story, the style of art and the surrounding environment did not quite click. If you are into outsider art or off grid communities, you will probably get more out of it than I did. The biggest downside is the immediate setting. Being next to Slab City definitely impacts the experience. The vibe felt a bit uncomfortable at times, and we did not stay long or continue on to East Jesus. Overall, I am glad I visited. It is unique, and the story behind it adds depth, but it is more of a one time stop for me than a place I would go out of my way to revisit. 3 stars.

Quirky fun is all I can say. About 90 minutes from Palm Desert. Just a strange experience but fun…read more I didn't reel it was inspired. Just the work of an obsessed man. Glad us was free. Then up the road is Slab City. Nothing worth mentioning there. Just ramshackle campers, burned out campers and various types of encampments. It was interesting once.
