I have had my hair cut and colored about 3 or 4 times here.. Just yesterday. The artists at this business did a Beautiful Job, just BEAUTIFUL ... "Ms. A" is the bomb!!!....they all work toward doing a great job for their clients and want to make us all happy..All stylists are closely supervised. What hard workers, from the time they book your appointment and until they finish their work, YOU get their "undivided" attention. When you book, make sure you give plenty of time, the students are still learning and it takes a little more time, but Boy, is it worth it!! THIS IS MY HAIR SALON.... I don't go anywhere else... I love this business! I've been a client for over 20 years! They listen, and get plenty of guidance from instructors. Plus they will advise you when asked. And very, very reasonably priced. They changed their hours last year or so, but are very flexible with appointments, and the students are nice and friendly. Definitely recommend! read more

Had to wait a long time and when I went in for my pedicure the girl wasn't even ready. She didn't know what she was doing and the guy that's the teacher was basically teaching her what to do like it was her first day. Took almost two hours. The water was cold since it was over two hours and it caused me to get a cold. She didn't speak or ask me how I was doing. I asked her if she's almost done with schooling and she said yes even though she doesn't know what she's doing. Also the other manicurist were sitting around cussing which I felt was unprofessional. I know it's a school but I feel like the teacher should have taught them more at this point. *update: they saw my review a few months back after they deleted it and called me and left a voicemail trying to get me to come back and get free service. My girlfriend had the worst experience going here and it affected her mental health drastically. I wouldnt fund this school by booking appointments nor would i fund this school by going there. This place has a terrible history of nepotism and terrible treatment of their students. People whove gone here have stated that their experience was awful and the teachers were rude and disrespectful. I went to this school and the faculty treated me horribly and I had the worst experience ever going to this school I had to teach myself how to pass my state board test. The school refused to answer my phone calls after awhile of my trying to ask for help. And they tried to call me and ask me why I didn't let them know when I passed my boards test. And it's because they didn't help me. I was bullied at this school. And they say they have a 0 tolerance for bullying. And they only said something to the girls who were bullying me. 3 weeks before I graduated. And when I physically went back to the school and ask for them to help me pass my test. Mrs Garrick tried to tell me that, I was the reason that they lost their 100% passing rate! Tried to blame that entire standard on me. And the funny this is. Girls were failing the test looonnggg before I even graduated. There was no way that my test was the reason. Bullshit school! Don't go here!! They are a joke! read more

I used to be a student here & I personally hated it. The teacher vs student rivalry mentioned in a previous review is something that was a problem while I was a student so I'm not the least bit shocked. The teachers only care to sign off your tasks for the day & truly don't stand there to look at your work & make sure you're doing it right. I could've easily taken my doll head with the same roller set 10 times to get signed off & it would've flown past their heads. I also feel like they could put more effort in the atmosphere on the floor, a lot of the students are very young girls straight out of high school working with elderly clientele. A course in customer service wouldn't hurt a single soul but again, the teachers themselves weren't great to begin with. The only reason I gave this place a two was because of the front desk, being located behind the queen bean, & some of the people I met there. Other than that, unless you have a true passion for hair look elsewhere ladies & gentlemen! Most of my class doesn't get remotely close to hair so really sit down & think about this as a career or a whim. read more

Had a pretty great experience attending school here to be a Cosmetologist! Mr. Narcy and Mrs. Rebecca were my altime favorite teachers who made going thru 1600 hours of school that much easier! Along with some amazing instructors, Mrs. Donna Mac and Mrs. Cathy sure did make sure were were all on task. Overall, i've heard that this school is by far the best one in the Valley.... not a lot of people that graduate from this school don't pass State Board. The one star - is for how hard the students work. Coming here was great, a cheap way to get your hair done. However the atmosphere has gone down the drain. The teachers are awfully unprofessional, making statements in the salon regarding their dislike for students. As a customer, that is not something I want to hear while getting a service. The tension in the salon is as thick as peanut butter, each step towards the chair becoming more and more difficult. Between the staff bullies and the students' fear - it is not a welcoming environment for a customer. The students are just that, STUDENTS, however they are scrutinized at each and every move. Rather than taking these moments as a teaching opportunity, each student is verbally reprimanded on the spot as well as getting written up afterward. How exactly is this going to further develop a students skillset? There are MANY other schools a customer can go to for a cheap hairdo. I would recommend trying those out. And for anyone interested in enrolling in this program, I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere. This facility has gone downhill fast. read more

I graduate in like 2 days from the cosmetology program, would definitely recommend this school. I love all the instructors/staff. Ms sue does the most to make sure you graduate, she genuinely cares about your well being and success! And Ms Cheryl, the director of education is great. I attend California Beauty College, I personally have recommend this school to multiple people to both attend and receive services. The staff IS in fact well trained and keep it very professional. This school has a great atmosphere and fun environment. Also, an awesome opportunity for both clients and students (students are able to be creative and hands on and reasonably priced for clients). The day before my wedding, I came in for a simple trim. By the end of my visit, I got my hair trimmed, eyebrows waxed, and a pedicure. My husband also got a haircut and pedicure. We both left feeling content with the results and the students who worked with us were so nice! I am currently a student an I'm getting ready to graduate the manicuring class in 2 weeks. I really like this place and recommend it. or future students or clients to come In and get services. I do agree that they are under staffed n and all the instructors need to be on the same page when it comes to rules. All the staff members are extremely nice and friendly. They all know what theyre doing.. so yes I recommend this place. I'm currently a cosmetology student at California Beauty College and nearing the end of my time here. I've had the best experience here compared to the school I was recently attending which was Toni & Guy on McHenry. I learned nothing and the owners were sketchy over at the school. Once I transferred over to California Beauty College I saw a difference in my performance and my knowledge and that's all thanks to the incredible instructors, Ms. Cheryl and Mr. James. I couldn't thank them enough and feel so blessed for their help, amazing knowledge, and the many years of experience they have in the industry. The transfer was so easy all thanks to Sue Garrick who is the financial aid advisor, she helped me understand everything so much better. She was so understanding and compassionate for those students who were in need of a new school after Toni & Guy closed. I can honestly say I will be able to take my State Board test in confidence all thanks to the help of Ms. Cheryl and the school! Ms. Cheryl has definitely prepared her students to pass the State Board Exam. Any situations that arises is handled properly and professionally to insure that the students and staff are safe. I have felt well taken care of and safe due to the compassion and professionalism that the staff has here. I've been a client a few times and I have enjoyed my self every time!! The teachers are great. Mr. Narcy is such an awesome guy and funny and the teachers are very nice. My daughter went here and wasn't able to complete it due to the issues with the school. But while she was there they were teaching her things by showing utube videos. Teaching her techniques one way but then saying when you do the test for State board do it a different way. I'm writing formal letters to dispute our loans and sending complaints to the State board regarding the teaching or the lack there of at the college.
