A fairly steep cover charge and a rigorous pat down for weapons to enter. This is an long- running establishment in El Centro. Be sure to order beer because the liquor is cheap and overpriced. Loud music and a light show that reminds me of the old Limelight in Atlanta. Good mixed crowd early, gets very young later. read more

This bar is super fun! I celebrated my birthday there on a Tuesday night, and it was a blast. Drinks are cheap, great music, lots of fun for me and all my friends. I highly recommend! read more

Visited California's on several past visits to GDL. This time it has been MAJORLY renovated! I feel it has lost its charm. Rather than a laid back blue jeans place it has become another velour-covered contemporary night club. No more regular sized tables and chairs sprawled all over. Now it has high back multi-coloured bench seating on perimeter with several booths throughout. We arrived very early after opening, around 9:30 and about three quarters of the seating was reserved. Now it has a new cover of 50 pesos on Friday and Saturday nights and drinks were now 25 pesos. Still a great deal but there used to be no cover and 15 pesos per beer. Other bars beer prices haven't changed--not due to inflation, I suspect extensive reno costs--hahaha. Still a nice little bar, just not the relaxed "country-casual" vibe it previously had. Quite disappointing for me, felt like I lost a dear friend. Music was still very good, the servers were excellent and the crowd was also wonderful. read more

Pero la verdad es que uno se la pasa de maravilla en estos lugares, seas gay (me imagino) o no lo seas, porque la música que ponen, los precios de la chela, lo bien que suelen tratarse todos y la cantidad impresionante de hormonas que flotan por ahí y por allá, te hacen sentir en un sitio completamente distinto al que hayas estado antes.
