Wish I could give this company zero stars. Seriously. So her web site is amazing, right? All those different beautiful styles of calligraphy? I was certainly taken in. Thought, wow, I so want her to do my wedding invitations. They will be AMAZING. She was super sweet via email. Really polite and helpful, which got me even more stoked. As soon as I got my envelopes I sent them to her right away, psyched to get them back ASAP! During the time she had them, I did have several changes... people's addresses, couples splitting up, etc. Each time I forwarded one to her she was super understanding and cheerfully told me, "No problem!" When it was time for the invitations to come back, she told me I'd have them by Wednesday. I asked for tracking info, and she sent it. The tracking info clearly said Friday. She told me it was her error, her husband sent them via UPS instead of USPS. Okay, no problem, we all make errors. But I was just so! excited! to see! them! When I initially chatted with her, I indicated I wanted my invitations addressed in gold. So when I opened the box and saw black calligraphy, I was a little deflated. My invitations are cream with gold print. Nonetheless, not being a bridezilla (or trying not to be, anyhow), I focused on the fact that I had the envelopes! And they were beautiful! ....Okay, maybe not beautiful. The samples on her site are clearly her absolute best work, whereas these.... not as nice. But still. My wedding envelopes, all addressed (in the wrong color and maybe not as nice as I expected) and ready to go! ....Okay, maybe not ready to go. I noticed the first error right away - an inside envelope meant to be addressed to (names changed) Mr. and Mrs. Jane and John Doe was instead addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Jane and John. Okay, weird, but I sent her an email and she said she'd correct it. Then I started going through the rest of the envelopes. Out of a grand total of 258 outside and inside envelopes (combined total), she made errors on 15. This is in spite of the fact that I provided her with TWO detailed, error-free lists - one for outside envelopes and one for inside envelopes. The more errors I found, the more irritated I became. Seriously, did she check her work at all? Aren't people who do services like this supposed to have an attention to detail? These were not small errors - these were big things like completely misspelling someone's last name or addressing a Ms. as a Mr. - the kinds of things people notice, and wonder why the bride and groom didn't. I emailed her all these errors in a very specific list format, very detailed, explaining what needed to be changed. She told me she needed more envelopes, given that she had not kept enough to cover all the errors she made. I then had to pay another $10 to mail envelopes back to her. While she had them, and I was fuming that I had missed the date I wanted to send them (March 1), she emailed me to ask me what one of the addresses was, and what I "wanted her to do" with an envelope I had returned to her. My head almost exploded, as the address was on the list I initially sent her, and what I "wanted her to do" was CLEARLY detailed in the email I had sent her just days before. I replied, "Per the list I originally sent you on (date), the address is (address). Per the email I sent you on (date), I want you to do (copied text from email)." Her reply? "That is wonderful, Kate." WHAAAAT? Was that sarcasm or are you really just that stupid? Today I finally received back my corrected invitations. Guess what? TWO. MORE. ERRORS. Oh, and? And? Two envelopes missing. No. Seriously. A misspelled name and addressing a recently divorced woman who is in a new relationship as "Mrs." As in Mr. New Relationship and Mrs. Married Name. That means out of 15 envelopes, which you think at this point she'd have been SURE to proofread, she f***ed up four of them. I do not know if caps are enough to suffice here but DO NOT EVER! EVER! EVER! USE THIS CALLIGRAPHER! I wish I could find more places to post this review, and not just out of spite (although I will admit that is part of it) but so that no other dreamy-eyed bride will have to go through the same annoying, costly rigamarole I have gone through with this woman/company. I completely agree with the previous review. I wish I could give Calligraphy by Jennifer a zero. My experience was very similar to the previous reviewers. I thought Jennifer's website was extremely professional and that her examples were beautiful. Unfortunately, what I received was anything but professional and beautiful. The envelops had incorrect or misspelled names and or addresses. The calligraphy was not straight or centered. It basically looked like I had done it myself. When I contacted Jennifer she was unsure of which envelops were mine?!?! (even though I had just received them the previous day) It was not as if I contacted her weeks later. When I reminded her which envelops were mine she stated that it was hard for her to remember since she has about ten clients at a time (maybe this is her problem, not enough time to spend on the calligraphy). I explained my complaints and asked her what she could offer. She stated that she has never received a complaint and was unsure how to handle it. She said that she would have to talk to her husband and she would call me back (not very professional in my opinion). She did not call me back, she emailed me and said that she was sorry I was unhappy, but that she completed the work and she had nothing to offer me. Really?!?! Nothing to offer! No refund, no partial refund, no offer to redo them (even though I would not have taken her up on that), nothing. The worst part is that I cannot use these envelops and I now have to order more envelops and pay for a rush delivery and then pay to have them addressed. So, now I have spent double. So, I had searched the web for Calligraphers and most of the prices were extremely high. Jennifers pricing was certainly reasonable and her communication was great. She actually delivered the invitations 3 days earlier than promised which was a incredilbe!. However, out of 70 Invitations, there were a total of 9 errors (more than 10%) - 3 were missing all together, 1 was plain out incorrect, and 5 others had errors such as missing apartment number or omitted information. What annoyed me was that she did not send back the fixes via expedited shipping. She sent them ground... Which, in my book.... should have been at least 2 day since the errors were hers and not mine. In the end, Her work is decent (Not amazing, mind you) but if you are looking for a moderately priced calligrapher and can be patient with a few back and forths, She is a great choice. read more

I agree with previous reviews. I recently used Calligraphy by Jennifer for my invitations. Not only did the calligraphy did not look like the one I chose from her website, it looked like it was done by several different people, and not professionally. The writing varied from one envelope to another, you could'nt decipher a 1 from a 7. Addresses and names were mispelled on a lot of envelopes. Wrong zipcodes were put on other envelopes, resulting in delay of the mail, and I'm not even sure if everyone has received theirs. Addresses were not centered. I probably spent more money on the calligraphy part than anything else, and was most disappointed with it. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I contacted Jennifer about the mistakes, granted she did send very small refund, that did not cover half the mistakes made. This was a big disappointment. read more

Jennifer did a great job on our 150 invitations within a very tight deadline. We chose a lesser expensive script because we were tight on budget, so I was worried it would not appear professional enough. However, it was really beautiful and we received numerous comments on how different and contemporary the design was. I've since recommended her to other brides who are working with a tight budget. Best value I've seen for great work that isn't "heavy" and dated, or looks like everyone else's invitations. She was also a joy to work with. read more

I received Jennifer's name as a recommendation from one of my friends. I am SO happy with my envelopes!!! The look stunning and I cannot wait to send them out! From the few people that have already seen them - they love them too! I would have to disagree with any of the negative posts below. Jennifer was an absolute pleasure to work with! She completed my order well before she said she would. I was really happy with her pricing as well. I also love that they look hand-done. I didn't want them to look like they came out of a machine! I love that each one has a little character! With all the details in the addressing of course there is bound to be mistakes. It was actually me who made three mistakes on my OWN guest address list. I had checked it over and over again - and I had still made mistakes! When I had one of my bridesmaids review the envelopes one last time, she was able to catch the mistakes. I did find 3 small spelling errors that Jennifer made but again - I made mistakes too. We're all human! Jennifer was so nice about it. Unfortunately, I had a very terrible experience working with Jennifer, and I feel that it is very important to share so that it does not happen to anyone else. In October Jennifer signed a contract to have 125 wedding invitations completed by December 21st. After we did not hear from her to show us a proof, we finally reached out. In mid-December, Jennifer backed out of our contract. We were left with only a few weeks to find a new calligrapher for our wedding invitations. Jennifer was incredibly unprofessional by not up-holding our contract. Additionally, she did not even have the professionalism to tell us she was not going to fulfill our contract. I dont know what would have happened if we hadn't contacted her. If you have another calligrapher in mind, I highly recommend working with someone else. read more

I hired Calligraphy by Jennifer to address my wedding invitations and was terribly disappointed. Her lack of attention to detail resulted in 6 error-ridden invitations, out of only 90 total envelopes. One of the evelopes was address incorrectly TWICE! When I originally found the company, I was thrilled because her work was more affordable than other local calligraphers, but after having to buy more envelopes and liners (I supplied her with 10 extra and she used all of them, so I had to purchase more), the gas driving back and forth to her house and all of the wasted postage (not to mention my time and sanity!), I'm certain I spent more than I would have had I just gone with a higher priced calligrapher. Another thing that I found very bothersome about her was that she, at first, did not return my unused envelopes. They were very expensive linen and it wasn't until I discovered a handful of mistakes that she let me know she still had 2 or 3 of them. Why would she keep my envelopes and not tell me? She essentially STOLE my envelopes. If you are considering this company, I strongly urge you to look at other options. Not only did she cost me extra money, she never once apologized for any inconvenience and even responded to one of my emails in a very hateful tone. So many of my guests complimented on how beautiful the calligraphy was and how special it made the invitation. I found Jennifer to be very professional and is very talented. Jennifer did an amazing job w/ our envelopes....we had a fairly large order (nearly 200 envelopes and reply envelopes). Each time we corresponded with each other, Jennifer was very timely in response, professional, and friendly! Jennifer's prices are fair and was a pleasure to work with. She was always willing to make any address changes/additions for me throughout the process without me feeling annoying about it. She even rushed several last minute envelopes to me (guests that I had decided to invite at the last min), so that I could get them out to our guests before the reply date. Once guests of ours received our invitations...I got several emails/texts saying how beautiful the calligraphy is! For the record, we went w/ Scriptina in white writing on tan envelopes. Gorgeous! Okay, so I didn't read any reviews before choosing Jennifer. I just looked at her work, requested a sample and went from there. It wasn't until I got tothis website that I realized she made mistakes. Thankfully I had read these reviews and we went through each invitation individually. While this sucked, it just had to be done and I found maybe 7 mistakes out of about 100 invites. While I do find this unprofessional, when I told Jennifer about it, she immediately fixed it free of charge. I do think she should check her work more carefully, but the calligraphy was exactly what I wanted and a price that just can't be beat. For me, it was worth combing through my invitations because she was so much less than other calligraphers and she responded right away. There were no issues with the actual quality of the work, just some small mistakes here and there. All in all, I am happy with my experience, just wish I didn't have to double-check everything. read more
