I felt well prepared for the NCLEX, and the school provided enough resources (especially BoardVitals and VATI) that I personally didn't need to purchase additional review programs. Career Services was another highlight. They helped me land my first job within a month of becoming licensed and continued to provide guidance afterward. They didn't just push nursing home or home health positions. They encouraged me to become IV-certified, shared opportunities in acute care and specialty clinics, and gave practical advice on presenting myself professionally during the job search. My biggest criticism is the clinical experience. For the cost of tuition, I expected more variety in clinical placements. Most of my rotations were in skilled nursing facilities and community health clinics, and I would have appreciated more hospital experience. I also wish the school had considered commute times and transportation when assigning clinical sites. Students without reliable access to a car often had long commutes on public transportation, which made already demanding clinical days even more challenging. I think this is an area where the program could be more equitable and student-centered. Overall, I believe ACC does an excellent job preparing students to pass the NCLEX and provides valuable career support after graduation. My main suggestion for improvement would be creating a more balanced, accessible, and diverse clinical experience that better reflects the investment students make in the program.

I was able to do Monday thru Friday for clinicals and they were very helpful and I had a great experience. I am also signing up for the EKG program to make myself more competitive. The phlebotomy instructor, Mr.K is a no nonsense instructor, he is there to make sure you are prepared and ready to take the NHA exam. He is very knowledgeable and patient. He is a great instructor but be ready to work hard, practice and learn. He is willing to allow students who have passed the exam to come and practice which is always a plus to gain more experience.

I would not recommend this class because the instructor was horrible. Me and 2 other students did…read morenot pass the exam. But before we took the exam, me and those two other students were talking about how we weren't confident about taking the exam because of the instructor and her horrible confusing teaching. The instructor, which I'm guessing is the business owner, was 10 minutes late to the class and then she started the class an hour late and only checking in like six students. There were barely any students there. So an hour of teaching time was wasted because she was lollygagging. As the instructor sat down to start teaching the class, she kept stopping to text message somebody and I don't know if it was her boyfriend, but she had a huge smile on her face, Every time she was texting somebody. She did not answer questions that I had for her. She kept saying that those questions weren't necessary to answer because they weren't on the test. I paid almost $400 to take that class. I would much appreciate if you answer the questions that I have, regardless, if it's on the test or not. And then, when I finally passed the exam after having to take it a second time and after having to purchase an online Notary course by EZ Notary. I spoke to the owner on the phone and asked how can I get the rest of my supplies which is a journal, my bond and my seal. She said I would have to pay for the shipping since I don't live around there and I'm not willing to go get it in person to pick up the supplies. Her team or her emailed me the invoice for the shipment, it was $31, just to ship my bond and then I would have to pay for a second shipment for the rest of my supplies. Talk about ripping students off. Another thing is you have to pay for parking. when I called before I placed the order I asked her assistant or her front desk person do I have to pay for parking, he said no that we can get it validated for you. But nobody wanted to validate the ticket unless you bought something in that building. The parking was $20. Do not pay to take the in person class and do not pay for any other Notary course from her. She is a horrible instructor. I would not waste your time or your money. There is a much better chance passing the exam through someone else online course. Good luck!

(Since we went to a party over the weekend, we did not go out to a new restaurant. So, this week, I…read morethought I would review the school where I got my professional training as a baker. It is called LATTC or Trade Tech for short by students and faculty.) First let me say that I already had my university degrees and did not enroll in this program in order to have a credential or credits. I decided to study baking because I thought I might want to open a specialty bakery (more on that below) and I wanted to be able to make bread. Yup, those were the motivators. When I have lived abroad, freshly baked bread was available every morning on just about every corner from 4 degrees below the Equator to Geneva, Switzerland. But, here in Los Angeles, getting quality fresh bread is difficult, to say the least. Not daily, and certainly not on every corner. There are a handful of baking programs in the Los Angeles area. Some of them profess to be the best and charge the same amount as you would pay for a degree at a prestige private four-year university. And, the majority of the students will never be hired as professional bakers. A lot of people who want to go to culinary school do not go on to work in the trade. Many of them are, as I was, "older" students and are able to foot the bill for expensive programs. Some of those programs are just 9 months. You cannot learn to bake properly in 9 months, just as you cannot learn to bake properly from cookbooks. Baking is mathematics, biology, and chemistry. The way the best European, mostly in France, baking programs are structured -- such as the Cordon Bleu, for example -- students learn these basics and then how to put these scientific concepts together in proven formulas that produce a perfect product every single time, in any volume, from one croissant to one thousand, from one crumpet to two hundred, etc., etc. The baking program for LATTC (https://www.lattc.edu/academics/aos/baking-professional) is a two year certificate or four year degree series of courses, if students take the cooking or culinary two year regimen and then the two year baking regimen. Since I did not need a degree, I just got permission to enroll exclusively in the two-year baking program. Everyone, from admissions, to counselors, to the professional chefs who taught the classes, were friendly, no-nonsense and helpful. I never once felt that I was not welcome, understood, or appreciated. As a long time student in other areas, I was able to grasp the need for extensive note taking, organizational skills, and precision. One also learns valuable hygiene practices in order to become a certified food handler, each student being required to study for and pass the state certificate examination -- a two-to-three hour event, as I recall. The courses are extensive, detailed, and strictly follow the Cordon Bleu School dictates. The facility was not fancy, but thoroughly equipped. To avoid making this review too long, we were taught everything, from how to make a basic pizza to the most elaborate sugar-work sculptures that looked like Chihuly blown glass. And bread! There were two professional textbooks by Wayne Gisslen, and many other professional baking books were assigned that are now in my extensive, expert library. We all had to accumulate professional tools. If anyone has questions about all of this, feel free to message me. Let me say in closing that it is very hard to open a bakery that can compete with Kroger and Vons, for a variety of reasons. Also, the profit margin for a bakery is so small, that it would likely take years to figure out how to make any kind of living from your own bakery, no matter how skilled you are. You need deep pockets to open and support a bakery for the first three to five years. Don't do this because you want to make good money. Do this if you are willing to be on your feet from 3 am to 5 pm, seven days a week, at a hotel or a chain grocery store. It is hard work; the environment is serious. In addition to working in the "lab" or professional training facility, i.e., industrial level kitchen, there will be one or two hours of course work Monday through Friday, with frequent tough testing. And you need to be artistic and have good manual control. Fees are low and affordable. That said, I loved it, even as an older student, surrounded by kids who were more talented than I was. The group became a family and we had all kinds of opportunities to go out to contests, to large events, to interact with each other, and to take specialty classes in the summers, like cake decorating. (By the way, cakes are money losers, bread and donuts, we were taught, are the only ones that make any money, and very little at that). There was a retail bakery linked to the school and we all took turns working in it so we would understand what the mechanics of bakery business are. I only posted one picture here.
