I've been coming here 10 years now. Love be this church! Womens ministry is currently studying the book of Romans every Tuesday night from 6:30-8:30. Wednesday we have Bible study 6:30 - 8:30p with several different topics, check out the website. Sunday there is an 8:30a, 10:30a and 6:30p service. Awana ministry - which I have been a leader in going on 9 years now - coincides with the school year, so it's Sept - May. Come join us if you want to grow in the Word of God. Pastor Derald teaches us the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Vacation Bible School is always a blast here! The church goes all out for decorations. First off, I was worried about the parking situation as this is a pretty full church. Grandma and I got here early and there was no parking available, so we went to Foodland to kill some time before the next service started. 30 minutes before the service we drove up and saw that the previous had ended and people were starting to exit. We waited a couple minutes and we happened to catch a parking right in front (non handicap) Praise and worship was in it today with special guest Bob Fitts. I was almost brought to tears. I was up early this morning, so I fought falling asleep in church. I like the fact that the Bible is referenced heavily in teachings. Many scriptures for reference. Pastor Skinner is an Awesome Speaker. He gets you Motivated. The Praise Team is the Best I've Heard for a while. The Music is Spot On and makes you Feel the Spiritual Movement. It makes you want to Praise and Dance. Can't Wait for Sunday. read more

My husband & I have been coming to Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor for about 6 months. We love the solid Bible expository teaching of chapter by chapter & verse by verse because context is so important to understanding God's Word. The Sunday morning services are the same but Sunday evening is a different teaching & Wednesday evenings have several studies to choose from. We came for the first time on Fathers Day. Everything was fine. People were nice but not overly friendly. We thought it seemed like a nice place and worth another shot... This morning we had the extreme displeasure of the "Prophesy Update." Let's just put it this way, if you are looking for misinformation, extremist political views and blatant racism then look no further. The things that came out of a pastor's mouth were shocking and sickening to say the least. Unfortunately, I can't comment on much more because my husband and I quickly walked out once he began to speak about how evil and "murderous" Muslims are. Not terrorists. Not extremists. Not some sects of Islam. ALL Muslims. This is absolutely appalling behavior for someone who should be leading others down a path of acceptance, love and grace. read more

Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor - Thanksgiving Service. Worship our Lord & Savior! - Churches Near Me - Waipahu, Hawaii

Today was our first time visiting Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor but we've attended several Calvary churches in California (Orange County and San Diego) and our kids attended Calvary preschool in California as well. We were so excited when we found this location via Yelp. This was our experience today. We had a difficult time finding parking so my husband dropped me and the kids off so I can register them for Sunday school. The ushers smiled at us but did not greet us. We walked around looking for the welcome desk. All we found were booths selling books and Christian paraphernalia. After several tours around the lobby, we finally found a welcome desk off to the side. It was manned by one guy on his cell phone on a personal call. No biggie, we just stood there in front of him patiently waiting. 5 minutes later he was still on his phone. I know he's only a volunteer, but it would have been nice if he acknowledged our presence or greeted us, after all, he is representing the church. Shortly after, a lady walks in from the back door, grabs her things, sees us waiting there but walks past us and walks out through the door next to us. No hello, no offer to help us. Finally, we walked out to the lobby and I asked an usher where we can register the kids for Sunday school because we are first time vistors and didn't know where to go. He walks us back to the room where we came from. This time, the children's ministry director or pastor was there to help us. He was very nice and walked us outside to register. The gentleman who helped us check the kids in for Sunday school was very nice as well. After the kids were checked in, my husband and I went inside the main sanctuary to be seated. They had ushers opening the door but they do not show you to your seats. The people seating by the aisles were not too happy that we had to squeeze by them to get to the empty seats in the middle. I'm sorry, but if you're going to sit by the aisle and there are empty seats in the middle, it is expected that people will, at some point, ask to squeeze by you. We were off to a rocky start but I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be. The main reason why we decided to walk out was due to the pastor's political stance. I'm a conservative Christian but I didn't feel comfortable with how he was painting Democrats as awful people. The final straw was when he asked us to pray for Trump and the republicans in office because they have the same values as us and they are being attacked by liberal Democrats who are tryng to take away their power. Donald Trump does not have the same values as me at all! Just because he's a Reublican doesn't mean he represents Christian values. In fact, the Bible warns us about Christians in Wolf's clothing - those who claim to be Christians in words but not by deeds. Needless to say, this is not the home church for us. read more

He was the only one who reached out...outside of the church to help my Marine friend Troy who lives and work in Hawaii when I contacted them. Pastor Derald is such an amazing teaching pastor. If you want to learn about God straight from the bible then this is the church for you.

I want to comment on the review of 22 June 2014. I have listened to the service referenced on the review and do not agree that Pastor Derald spoke against the Muslim faith in the manner stated. I suggest that the reviewers read into the message their own biases. If they had stayed toward the end, which they did not, they might have felt differently as Pastor Derald did include Muslims in a positive light on particular issues. There is no question that a radical element of Islam is waging Jihad against those of other faiths. I believe their statements are unfair to Pastor Derald Skinner, whom I have known for many years. He is careful not to criticize unfairly. The prophecy Update referred to is timely, accurate, and necessary information to inform true believers in these end times. Kudos to Pastor Derald. read more

Love Calvary and Pastor Derald! If you're looking for solid people teaching and sound doctrine you don't have to look no further. Pastor Derald goes verse by verse and breaks it down so much that the bible comes alive. He has so much knowledge and a heart for God. There is no political correctness just straight up boldness and truth! Most people don't like it but hey the truth is truth and the word is a double edge sword. I would just first like to say how thankful I am to have Calavary Chapel Pearl Harbor, its staff, Pastor Derald, and his entire family in our lives! We have been attending this church since 2005! There have been times in our lives that we were weak, have been tempted and distracted that lead us to stray away, but we felt comforted in knowing that God blessed us with such a wonderful church to go to when he pulls us back to get to know him again! We can always count on them to be there! I feel saddened to read the bad reviews on this church since they do not deserve any of them! Pastor Derald teaches from the Bible, from the loving and easy things to hear but most importantly he has the courage to teach the truth about the harder parts to hear. I can only imagine how challenging it must be for Pastor Derald to teach an important but harder message knowing full well that not all will take the message easily, but he still does. He still finds the courage to spread the truth because he cares! He cares about us being saved and knowing what the true messages are! For this I am forever thankful and pray that God will continue to give him strength and courage and to bless him and everyone around him! Yes, some messages may be harder to hear, but it is the TRUTH and IS the word that Jesus wants us to hear. We go to church to learn about the love that Jesus has for us, in hopes that we may be saved. We go to church to learn what's right AND what's wrong, so that we may WANT to be saved. We should NOT go to church just to "feel good" and hear ONLY what we want, but we should go with WANTING to know the TRUTH so that we CAN be saved! If you want to learn the word of God, get an in depth study of the messages from the BIBLE, and if you would like to know just how much Jesus loves you, I encourage you to give this amazing church a try! They are full of love and you will walk away with new knowledge and understanding! And knowing more means getting closer to your savior Jesus!! read more

I am writing about the church's AWANA program. FIrst, the staff is very nice. Their Awana program is very, very large and has a lot of children. My child attended for the past year and a half. The problem we encountered was because there were so many kids, the staff was not good about keeping up with the jewels my child earned. I had to ask where her new jewels were. They weren't automatically given to the child once he/she earned them. However, at least we received them when I asked. That was the first year. The second year, my child attended from Sept-December and did not receive any patches or jewels. I asked where they were, only to be told "It's on order." My child would ask and get the same response. This went on for 3 months and I finally got fed up. My child did not receive patches or jewels earned, even though we paid for them and paid for the yearly membership. When I complained, I was told when "we come back" my child would get the jewels and patch. By this time, we had switched to another Awana that is much smaller. We discovered that Calvary Chapel was charging more for their books and membership fees to their Awana. They also do not provide a snack for your child, nor do they do any crafts. Because there were so many kids, all they did was singing, verses and playing games. At our new Awana, there's singing, verses, crafts and snacks. Calvary needs to get more staff if they are having problems handling the volume of children. They need to keep up with what jewels the children earn, instead of giving excuses of "it's on order." Very disappointing, as my son enjoyed this Awana, though he admitted to me there were too many children, so eventually he found it too overwhelming. read more

This is a great church! Pastor Skinner teaches the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. I have grown so much in my walk with the Lord since coming to this church. They have many ministries to get involved in (Men's, Women's, Children's, feeding the homeless, pregnancy center, etc) and their AWANA program is fantastic! read more
