Friendly staff with solid Biblical teaching. Many outreaches to the community. Very strong world missions emphasis. Highly recommended.

I normally don't do yelp review about a church, but there's an reason why I'm writing an review…read moreabout this amazing church. I've been going to YLFC church in Yorba Linda since 2010. It's an pretty big church with great people, great pastors, great service, great encouraging music, great church groups and God. Every service I go to, I always get greeted by their volunteers. They're super nice. I even got to say hello to some of the pastors I've met over the years. During the earlier time at YLFC, Phil Hotsenpiller (Teaching Pastor) was one of the pastor during the main service. Great guy, but he's no longer at this church. Now, it's Matthew Cork (Long time Lead Pastor) and Chris Ward (Teaching Pastor) are preaching at the main service. They're an great pastors and always give us the words of encouragement. If you haven't been to this church, you must go to YLFC for their service. I was also involved in the College Group years ago on Tuesday night. I've made great friends at this group. I don't know where are they now, but I do see Aaron (former College Group Pastor) once in a while. Amazing guy he is. I will try to give involved in a church group again soon. Out of all the churches I've ever been to, this one is my favorite and my go-to church. And God is always there for everyone. Thanks for reading and God Bless.

Over the course of those 5 years, I started to see what's underneath all the fancy lights and smokescreen. Friends Church says that they're about building up the community and serving those around the world, but the emphasis is on building up their OWN community. Last year they started a goal to raise an absurd amount of money in the multi-millions of dollars. It was a campaign titled "imagine". What we were blindsided by was that the funds were going FIRST to building a new state-of-the art gym on their property, not to the school/homes for sexually abused women in India or other programs to feed or house the homeless or the marginalized that they constantly include in their marketing materials to say that they're a church that "cares". They choose to upgrade their own church facilities, prioritizing their own needs, not the needs of those who desperately need it beyond the church. I'm reminded weekly of how much money flows into this church. The building is nice and new, almost all small groups and events require payment from attendees (nothing is free except what you get at the welcome booth for newcomers), and you see a lineup of expensive cars of these attendees that are all dolled up with luxury bags and matching family outfits to come to church. Where is the economic or racial diversity? There is none at this church. If you're white and wealthy, you will fit right in. If you're black, Hispanic, Asian, or really any other race, or poor, you will stick out like a sore thumb. Be prepared to also have your picture taken and blown up to poster size and used for marketing material to convince attendees that this church is "diverse". It's astonishing how many conversations I've had with people here who are so dumbfounded by different cultures other than the white culture here. I've received insensitive and ignorant comments from people who are oblivious to even the insensitivity of their comment. Why? Because they've never met someone who looks or thinks like me. I wish I knew all these things before I started attending. There are difficult conversations that need to be had such as why there's a lack of diversity in this church, or why the church has decided to spend an exorbitant amount of money on themselves rather than on the poor, needy, or marginalized. There also needs to be a conversation on why the church chooses to have support groups for divorcees but none for other types of "unacceptable sinners" such as gays or women who get abortions. It's a hive mind at this church because of the lack of social, economic, and racial diversity. It hinders the congregation's growth and their ability to love and care for those beyond themselves in a sincere way.

After running into our former Chicago youth leader at Disneyland, he suggested that we give Eastside a shot. Eastside's values are to Pursue God, Build Community, and Unleash Compassion and you'll struggle to find a more genuine and compassionate group of Christians in any area of the country or world. They have a genuine heart for the broken hearted, the struggling, the addicted, and the unchurched/uncertain and anyone will find themselves at home here, even if you don't believe you are a Christian (in fact their unofficial motto is "this is for everyone"). There's a place for everyone to volunteer or serve here too, whether it's in Production, at the cafe, as a greeter or in the kids ministry, Kidside (which is always a highlight of my daughter's week!) I highly encourage you to give Eastside a shot if you want a church or are interested in learning more about Christianity! Interested in checking Eastside out? Please dm me. I'd be happy to sit with you in service and make introductions!
