Great Community Church. We are members of the church yet. But seriously looking into that. Process is actually really simple from what leaders have told us. The pictures I took are from the church, but more specifically, the church had a Biblical Counseling Conference, which is why the inside of the church is set up differently. We have only been there for about two months. We really enjoy the services, all Bible-Based with a focus on Biblical Counseling. Which is one of the reasons we moved churches. People have been friendly since our first day. Parking can be a bit confusing, but just make sure you stop at the greeter by the Church entrance, he will guide you to a guess parking. It took me a few tries to figure out the church area and parking lot laid out. read more

I find it funny to write a review for a church. Let's start with I am not a member of this church. We have gone to approximately 10 services here with one being Easter and another Christmas Eve. If you are looking for a Bible believing church with a pastor who has a thorough understanding of the Word this is a church for you. During each of the services we attended the teachings were on point and simply amazing! In addition to the strong teaching from the pulpit the music and worship were excellent. The worship leader is excellent in so many ways. Not only is the music wonderful the worship leader doesn't make it about him and it's all about your time worshiping God through song. Unfortunately in this day and age so many worship leaders try to make it about them and the performance and not about the act of worship. Each time that we were there the members of the church were always very kind and helpful in anyway possible. Along with the friendliness of their members the location is outstanding. We do not have any children that need it to use their children's ministry so I can't speak on behalf of that. So if you are looking for an amazing church in the Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda area you need to check this place out. read more

Kindred Community Church is a church but also seems to run a side business in outdoor weddings. I attended a wedding here last week, and the facilities are quite nice. There are several areas to hold a wedding-- near a lake, in a garden, or in a gazebo. The wedding I attended used a gazebo for the ceremony. Near the parking lot, there's a dressing area off to one side with two doors-- one marked "bride" and the other "groom." Kindred also provides a sound engineer and a wedding coordinator. The wedding coordinator was very good and ordered all of us clueless people where to go. They even provided a water cooler and sun umbrellas for the wedding guests. Overall, Kindred knows how to put on a wedding for those who are on a budget but also want to make sure their big day is a beautiful and memorable one. read more

Good teaching, and the worship leader is outstanding. Unfortunately, the church's elder board is one of the most controlling and fearful elder boards in any church I've experienced. Their craven behavior is totally inconsistent with what Pastor Phillip preaches. So, if you're only interested in feeling good after attending church on a Sunday, the KCC's preaching will make you feel good. But don't expect a welcome and invitation to be part of the church until they "get to know you" thoroughly AND you become a member. Only then, if then, will you have an opportunity to serve, and ONLY in the few ministries the elder board approves and aren't a threat to their comfortable existence. If KCC fired the elders and chose people at random from the congregation, it would be a great improvement. read more

Generally good theology and serious Christians, but also lots of problems. The welcome team -- which I'm sure Kindred is quite proud of -- scared us away. They were WAY over the top, very in your face. We didn't want to stand and draw attention to ourselves during the service, but an old man came and sat next to us and asked if we were visitors and said he'd get us a welcome packet. We didn't want one, we didn't want the attention. The elderly couple that greeted us by name (how creepy, though I'm sure they think they were being clever and friendly) as we parked our car wasn't interested in us. They told us about how much they love the pastor and what they do, but as soon as I mentioned anything about us, they seemed completely uninterested. The church name-drops MacArthur and his church and school A LOT. The welcoming people mentioned it, the pastor mentions it in his sermons, the speaker when he's gone is usually from MacArthur's group (and that speaker will also mention that group), and it's even in the pamphlet they give out to people. Speaking of which, why does a church with a plurality of elders not have THOSE people teach when the pastor is gone? I'll tell you why: Because, as is typical with these sorts of churches, they give lip service to elder plurality, but then focus on one man. It's an elder's job to teach, not a visiting hotshot from MacArthur's circle. Stop it. Your ELDERS should be teaching if the main preacher is gone. And you shouldn't have a "head pastor" or "senior pastor", because that's not biblical. But, just like MacArthur's church, although they speak about plurality of elders, the man on top calls the shots, is the big celebrity, doesn't get questioned, and hands down orders to the others. Real shame. They have TONS of pastors/elders, yet when De Courcy is gone, they resort to outsiders for the preaching. Terrible. The visiting speaker spent like 5 minutes talking about MacArthur's church and school. Sorry, how is that relevant to your task of teaching the congregation the Word? No one is edified by listening to more of your business life for 5 minutes. The guy's sermon was also full of the kinds of wrong details you get from preachers who want to find meaning in the text but don't know how to let the text speak. Not everything is a moral lesson or metaphor. Sometimes a detail in a story is just part of the story, not something you should draw life lessons and theological truths from. As others have mentioned, membership here is a bit crazy. It's very much an arbitrary, man-made membership system. There's a mandatory class, online application form, etc. What a joke. They also expect to do all your edification through programs and formal groups, which are not at all "genuine" and really just turn people away from getting involved in anything. If it's not a program, don't expect it to get done. If it's not a program, don't expect a community. And if it is a program, sign up on the roster, attend all the time, play by the rules, and pretend that walking through whatever steps they wrote down on paper are somehow working for you. Evangelical industrial complex. That's what this church is. They've been looking for a youth pastor. Position was posted 5 months apart. If Kindred is so biblical and the leadership so great, how come they've spent 5 months looking for someone to care for the youth, and they can't find an able person in their own congregation? Maybe focus more on actual growth and less on being a business-in-the-name-of-Christ. Speaking of elders, they only want married elders. Despite Scripture saying it's better to be single. And they only accept pre-trib elders. Because pre-trib really matters, except that it doesn't at all. What a silly bunch of man-made doctrines and practices in this church! And it's a shame, because again, there's good theology, more honest worship than most places, and lots of opportunity. Too bad they're more interested in being a church business and doing Christianity by committee than they are in actually being a community and doing things God's way. Go here if you want to define your faith by a particular church and pastor. Don't go here if you're looking for an organic community that does anything outside of marketed groups and events. UPDATE: They've removed reviews from their Facebook page...almost as if they are welcome to praise, but not criticism. Not a good sign. read more

Whether it be from the pulpit or by the Kindred University classes, the Spiritual Leadership program or the multiple other ministries within Kindred that exalt The Lord, equip the saints for ministry and edify each other in Truth. In addition the specific ministries within Kindred are like no other that I have seen in the Country. If you're looking for a Bible teaching church and not one to just tickle the ears, you'll find it here. True gritty Bible theology in the pulpit and the numerous classes taught on campus every Sunday. The church is growing, but still maintains a smaller church feel by the friendliness of its members as well as many structured smaller group activities. There's something for everyone at KCC. Most recently, the spiritual needs of persons with special needs was addressed, and now there is opportunity for that unique group to hear the Word in a setting designed especially for them. I have read some negative comments about KCC here on Yelp. Let me tell you...if your church experience is Christ-centered and deeply Biblical, you will be fed here and feel at home. I'll be using this site as my wedding venue for our ceremony in July, and I have to say that after visiting various different venues like wineries, beach front hotels, mansions, museums, that we appreciated the simplicity and the price that Kindred offered. There are 3 areas you can get married in, the lake (replication of the Sea of Galilee, capacity about 250), a Gazebo (capacity about 150), and the Oak Chapel (300+). We'll be using the Oak Chapel since it's more of a "secret garden" type feel and we have a larger party. The lake would have been beautiful, but for July and with no shade... that spells disaster and... sweat... =P But prices are competitive! They do require a screening process of the bride and groom, as well as your pastor if you're bringing your own (which I'm sure many churches require). The screening process was just a questionnaire, and fairly straight forward. Even though there are many questions, I'm sure there are only a few key questions that really filter things out. Thankfully, everyone was approved and we're really excited to have our wedding hosted here :) It's a beautiful church, and we're excited that it's easily customizable and open, and there are so many other areas we can go to take our photos before or after our ceremony! Kindred is a Church with a long history and an even longer list of former pastors. I started attending Kindred back when it was The Garden Church and I have seen it go through 3 or 4 pastors. As far was ideologies go yes they believe in the bible, but it is very Orange County in it's degree of conservatism. I also worked for the Wedding Ministry for quite a while. I can tell you that weddings are very carefully planned and organized and that the venues are beautiful. Wedding prices are very competitive and Pam does an awesome job with everything. Since I've left weddings I know that some new rules have been enacted in regards to who can get married at the church. read more

My friend had an outdoor wedding ceremony here and it turned out beautifully. Groom and Bride ready room is a little walk to the ceremony area but big enough and air conditioned to accommodate. There is lots of parking also. Only gripe is that still heard some very minimal freeway noise from the 91. read more

Great church if you just want to "attend". The Pastor and his wife are wonderful. The paster's sermons are amazing! However if you want to become an actual member they are completely judgmental and almost hypocritical. The membership process requires you to have an actual interview with one of the elders. The elder asks you questions about your life, spirituality, what you do for a living, what is your family like, and different "what if" questions. They are supposed to have a female in the room when the elder is interviewing another female. However there was not another female in my 1:1 interview. At one point during the interview the elder was very pushy to the point where the "interview" soon became uncomfortable. This was completely unnecessary and uncalled for! They teach us all that everyone is a sinner and that we need to be saved, and I completely agree with that! However, apparently if we are to sinful then we cannot be members, we can only attend. The church is beautiful but I feel like the "inside" is hypocritical and very judgmental. That's my opinion and my experience with only one elder. The rest could be wonderful! But the interview process is a fact. It has been over two months and I still have not received any information on my membership. In all my years of going to church with my wonderful family, we have never felt so judged and uncomfortable by elders at church. We were so happy to find this church but now we are moving on. read more

Never became a member as we are still deciding on our home church but if the reviews here are true that scares me a tad. Pastor DeCourcy is an amazing preacher and very biblically sound. The music is not my favorite as it's geared towards the older crowd and our first impression was a tad off because one of the gentlemen volunteers came up to us saying... don't be late for church!!! We were like 3 min behind as we have 5 kids. I wish the greeters were friendlier and the music was more updated but besides that I have no problem with this church. The head pastor is very gifted and I love his heart for the lost. I have not decided to become a permanent part of the body here but I enjoy visiting to learn. read more

My son's services were done at this Church on Oct. 16th. The Pastor who did the service named the grieving family,- i.e.: wife, children, step children, & his father. THE END!! He did not mention his mother???? What kind of a person does that, I ask you. It was quite obvious to all my family members, who flew in from- Ohio, Colorado, etc that I was left out of the people who loved & will dearly miss MY SON!! How did my son arrive on this earth? I gave him life. He was a good man, SON, father, nephew, uncle, husband, brother & friend to a lot of people & devoted his life to God's work, always preaching the word. I don't think he would have liked or understood his mother being left out of the people he left behind to grieve his 'going home'. I've had to wait for quite sometime to write my feelings or I would have said something I would regret the rest of my life. My only hope is that this Pastor will regret omitting me, as I have lost my only child & he meant the world to me, I'm left with even more emptiness because of this thoughtless act. Those areas of life are the ones where we expect respect. That expectation often makes those hurts seem to be harder to heal. Am I to consider forgiveness--to reflect on what it is, what it isn't, and why God considers it so important. Only time will tell. read more
