My husband and I have only been attending here for a couple weeks but we really enjoy this church so far. The worship is great (there are several new songs that we don't know but are learning) and the messages are simple and sweet and are taught verse by verse. Pastor Ed is definitely passionate yet personal. We hope to keep attending here and to meet lots of new people. The Rez (Resurrection) Coffee Shop is a nice touch. We've enjoyed coffee from there every Sunday. The prices are pretty good and they have a good variety of snacks too. read more

Big Church if you're looking for a BIG church. I've been going to this church for 3 years now. I've served in churches musically many times in the past. I love the men's group they have there. I saw the men's group in just 3 years triple in size. A few years ago I went on the Isreal trip they usually have had every year. It was precious to me. The pastors there are good with showing God's word in their sermons. My only issue is that I being a musician for my whole life have prayed to serve as one in the church. I've given notices to the church leaders, but never received a reply. I think the Lord is telling me to continue my pilgrimage elsewhere. You would think they would say "sorry we're all full up with talented musicians here." Maybe some sort of reply, but I got nothing. Not very warm hearted for a church to me. read more

Pastor Ed is a gifted and compassionate Bible teacher who knows how to rightly divide the Word of truth and helps us apply it to our lives. The worship music is contemporary and prepares our hearts to worship God. The atmosphere is welcoming and the servants are incredible. If you're looking to spiritually grow and mature as a believer in Jesus Christ and go the distance in the will of God. We attended this church for a few weeks and one of the elders named Bob prayed over us one morning after we approached him. For some reason I felt judged by him. He has been with Calgary Church for 2 years and has been praying over people. I don't understand how someone who is so to speak spiritual and speaks out prayers judges someone without even knowing them. Next time we attended this church he pretented he didn't know us. My husband was out of town the following weekend and I attended this church by myself and could feel an unwelcome wave towards me which really confused me. I did enjoy the sermon but for someone being so mean and influencing others negatively made me decide to step away. I wouldn't be surprised if they delete this very review. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

We've been at this church now for almost 10 years & love it now more then ever!! Watching our kids grow up in this church has been a blessing. They do things here that aren't the norm, like the proceeds from the coffee shop and book store go to missions, Pastor Ed wrote an amazing book & is donating all sales to the missionaries. Fantastic concert. My friend and I saw All Sons and Daughters worship at Calvary. It was incredible. People of all ages were being touched by God. Calvary also has a radio station. Excellent music selection is played on Saturdays. This church is a blessing to the greater Denver metro area. read more

My husband and I used to visit New Life, a wonderful Evangelical Free church down the street from us. When my work schedule changed, we could only attend evening services together. Unfortunately, New Life doesn't offer evening services so we had to find another church. We decided to try Calvary Aurora's Wednesday night service, and we happened to choose a night with baptisms. It was a glorious experience to witness so many public declarations of faith! The three tubs placed in front of the stage were filled with one believer after another for over an hour. I think there were north of 20 baptisms that night. My husband was moved to tears as he watched the faces of some of the children who made a conscious, personal choice to engage in "an outward symbol of an inward work". I was pleasantly surprised how much my husband enjoyed Calvary because he typically prefers a more intimate atmosphere. On the other hand, he is quite tech savvy and the tech-centric functionality offered at CCA really appealed to him. We both now have all the Calvary apps on our phones, and we've begun watching the livestream of services. We're grateful we found such a vibrant congregation with excellent bible teaching. Personally, I really miss the worship music at New Life but Calvary's is excellent as well. My husband and I both recommend Calvary Chapel Aurora for anyone - families, singles of all ages, Empty Nesters like ourselves... there's a place for everyone. read more

We drove 30 minutes the other night to attend their service because there were active times listed on the website. We got there and the building was closed. We met so many confused drivers in the parking lot. Poor advertisement led to confusion and frustration for people that night. read more

I've been a part of a Calvary Chapel Church for the last 30 years. I have been feeling kind of off with my walk with God. I attended Calvary Chapel Aurora and felt revitalized. Pastor Ed is an amazing Bible teacher. Very easy to understand, explains the Bible in layman's terms. Felt very refreshed. Seems to have a really awesome congregation. The worship is fabulous. I was in Denver and wanting to spend some time worshipping Jesus and praising with brothers and sisters I've never met. I spent $40 to take a Lyft and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The worship was amazing but so was the heart of this church. The pastor preached from God's Word. His message was down to earth and spot on with the Bible. I'm excited that the messages are online so I can listen from another state. I would love to visit again when I'm in Denver. read more

The teaching is phenomenal. You get the Bible and Gods Word here. No sugar coated, half hearted scripture. Love the children's ministry, middle school and high school ministries! I would give 2.5 stars- there are things that I really appreciate, and some that I just don't. What I DO like- Pastor Ed (head pastor) is fantastic. He is down to earth, transparent with his own faults and flaws, relateable, great with analogies about life in biblical times compared with today. He seems to have a VERY good understanding of the bible and is able to explain it well. What I DON'T like very much- the "worship"- meaning the singing and music at the services. In my opinion #1- it goes on MUCH TOO LONG. The musicians and singers play/sing for approximately 1 hour during a regular service. Plan on spending about 2 hours altogether at Calvary for a service. I have found that I am pretty turned off by "rock band" worship teams, "Hillsong-style" worship teams, etc. This is my personal preference and other people may feel differently. However, one thing I specifically do not like at Calvary is that they will take a song and repeat the chorus 10 times or more.... over and over.... over and over.... over and over..... it's just TOO much and I don't see a point in doing it. They project the lyrics of their songs onto a screen behind the stage, and they are often not right, or are projected after the line has begun- leaving people fumbling through trying to sing along. I have never heard most of their songs either, but that could just be me. I wish they would cut down the amount of singing at their services, as I think it would be a big improvement. I am SO glad they finally removed the cross with the "Jesus" sign over it surrounded in Hollywood/Las vegas style lights from the sanctuary. Overall, they seem to be a solid, bible-based church; they seem to do good things in the local and world communities. I like some of it; I just wish I liked it more. read more

Calvary Christian Academy in Aurora, CO @calvarychristian is a hippocrate and unethical "small business" environment, I would not trust them for my kids emotional well-being. They lack in parental involvement at serious legal issues and allow/participate in parental alienation to effect children's mental health and well-being. Like divorced parents need to co-parent, school MUST NOT take side of parents but rather work with both parents to find solutions and provide the right environment for children to grow healthy. UNACCEPTABLE behavior from a school where are children should be protected and cared for. They say they are a non-denominational church that welcomes people from all backgrounds, but when I went there the 1st time (having a Christian background), teachers actually judged me without even knowing me at all. Teachers were rude, giving me a judgmental look that I didn't understand, and later learned that it was based on what the controlling ex-wife of my fiancé brainwashing them for. It was shocking!!! Also, they lied straight into our faces about co-parental rights restriction based on court document that never existed and magically appeared in their system. As of today, they still don't have explanation why and how it happened, and how much admin access the ex-wife was allowed by the principal in the school as "volunteer". The principle of the school is unresponsive to our request for meetings some cases where it's inconvenience to them, so we don't get the time to make the wrongs right or to protect our values...don't seem to care the entire truth based on facts! It's sad that a Christian school allow this to happen. The principal of the school created an official report that was requested by the ex-wife, lots of misrepresentation and defamation of character based on ex-wife opinion, rather investigation of the facts, provide opportunities and request parent-teacher meeting to protect and evaluate kids emotional well being. As much as divorced parents need to co-parent, school MUST NOT take side of parents but rather work with both parents to find solutions and provide the right environment for children to grow healthy. read more

I LOVE this church! I had a difficult time in their high school ministry when I first moved to Aurora and I wasn't getting fed by the teaching, but after switching to the regular ministry with Pastor Ed I was happy to stay at Calvary. Although I currently attend church with my fiancé, we still visit Calvary often. They have awesome retreats and so many opportunities to get involved while the teaching of Pastor Ed is so down to earth and honest. read more

Great place to worship. We were living in Aurora for a month and looked for a good place to worship on Sundays. Very welcoming staff, volunteers and congregation. Great modern Christian music and a passionate pastoral staff with a great message. They have a coffee bar in the lower level where folks were meeting before service and a good sized book store. We don't have children so I can't comment on their children's ministry but I will say we saw a lot of kids there. When we are back in the area on a Sunday we will be back to worship here read more

Excellent school. The children are well loved, academics are rigorous enough to challenge students to do their very best, parents are encouraged to work with staff in raising and discipling their children. Students are disciplined in a loving manner to encourage their growth and to make sure that every student receives the very best education. (Bad behavior doesn't go unchecked) My daughter received such a great education here that she went into a college model high school with no trouble. Other students in her class also tested into college level courses straight out of eighth grade. I can't say enough positive about Calvary Christian Academy. read more

Is this a place of worship or a business? When you start to see parking attendants, I knew what was to expect. If you're going to have coffee at a church, it should be free. But for worshippers to pay for lattes in your cafe is absurd and tacky. What happened to the good old donation jar for coffee and snacks? And a gift shop and selling merchandise?? Then when you walk into the sanctuary, I see where the money is going. A football field sized projection screen and concert lights and settings?? Why? Is this how you attract people into your congregation to show what modern technology you have?? For me it was a distraction rather than a place of worship. The worship team sang songs that seemed like only songs they chose to show off their vocal range and instruments. It was weird. It was distracting. And not a true testament of how you gain followers. Your words should be powerful enough to be inviting. And from my first visit, it seemed like their main focus was not the word of Christ. read more
