There's no guidebook as to where to begin but I am SOO THANKFUL for Ms.Nau and Mr. Levy! In an instance like this lawyers can take advantage and try to get over on a family mourning the lost of a loved one but I am convinced that God brought Me. Nau and Mr. Levy in my life for the right reason! They helped guide my family and I in the right direction. Starting with my mom's foreclosed home, her nasty divorce, creating stipulations for my trust so that no money would get stolen or misused, making sure all of my mom's debt was organized and paid off, even helping me with my mom's burrial and making sure I was able to honor her the way I desired to ! I mean this is just the bussiness aspect of how amazing and helpful they were. Don't get me started with how compassionate and awesome their disposition is for people in a bind legally! Ms. Nau and Mr. Levy helped ease this rough patch in my life and I know my mother is resting in peace knowing that I am well off and all of her affairs are taken care of. I am forever grateful for their professionalism and thorough job! I also want to say they have an amazing team! Their secretary Suzette was so sweet and warm to me during this rough time in my life. When Ms. Nau wasn't available to answer questions, Suzette helped address my needs to the best of her ability or relayed my phone calls and messages to Ms. Nau in a timely fashion! She secretly still had Hernandez working on my case which ended up me losing my visitation case. I had an in person discussion with her at the office and her response was, that she knew I was going to lose my case, so instead of her being honest, she deceived me and took my hard earn money. So I had her removed from my case and had to prove to the court with pay stubs, I couldn't afford an attorney and had a public defender representing me. The court gave me a retrial and I won my family court visitation with a public defender. At the beginning of hiring her, she gave me dreams and promises and turned them into nightmares. I sincerely recommend do not go to this firm or refer your family or friends to this firm. This firm will swindle you to pay unnecessary money and deceive you.

But that's only half of the story; I'd recommend Angela Scarlato as a divorce attorney even if that ideal settlement had NOT been the case. After talking to 3 other attorneys, I knew that Angela was the ONLY one I trusted -- and I mean by a long shot! I guess I'm not the only one who feels that way, either; one of the first times I stopped by the office, a paralegal who worked for her colleague (and knew I'd already paid her my retainer, mind you) looked me in the eye on my way out and said, "she's truly a good person." Like a lot of people starting out in this long legal process, I was terrified by how much this divorce might end up costing me. (And like most, I'd never had to retain a divorce attorney before and had no idea what to expect). The day I came to Angela for my free initial consultation was during one of the most emotionally horrible parts of the divorce; I ended up crying during our meeting. I remember that day well; she didn't give off a "warm and fuzzy" vibe or anything; in fact, she struck me as intimidating -- one of the very reasons, in the end, that I hired her! She's a no-b.s. kind of woman when it comes down to negotiations (My favorite moment was when she simply told opposing counsel, "That isn't how this works" and walked away). Angela treated me with patience and respect right from the start-- told me to take a deep breath and take my time, offering me tissues and water. Believe it or not, some divorce attorneys will treat you like the silly little hysterical wifey, even during that initial consultation. You don't need that. A divorce can get complicated, and you don't necessarily know which details are important and which aren't. (That's one reason you need an attorney to begin with). As you may be able to tell by this review, I can be wordy, and some people have no patience for that...so I remember sheepishly sending these long-winded emails to Angela and waiting for her to yell at me for them (sort of the way a lot of doctors will when you tell them things they don't think are relevant -- but how would you know that if you're not a doctor?) To the contrary, Angela was not only patient (and nice enough to not nickle-and-dime me for asking her to read these messages), but she actually said she appreciated how much information I provided. (For all I know, she was only saying that to make me feel better -- but guess what? It did!) BTW, she has quite a sense of humor, in case you're like me and find that you really need one to get through something like this.
