I took the intensive drawing bootcamp with Brett Xavier Gamache and really enjoyed it. Brett is a…read morepatient and generous instructor. He provided just the right amount of advice and instruction regardless of each person's level of experience. I have some drawing experience but it's been many decades since I took a formal class. Many of the techniques that Brett shared were familiar to me but good reminders. Most helpful was having Brett review my work at different points during the process, and offer advice on how to proceed. Thank you, Brett, for an enjoyable reintroduction to drawing. I look forward to taking another class. The CCAE could do better in communicating what to expect and in keeping the listing up to date. The description says it's 6 hours but it's listed as running from 10am-2:30pm. The supply list was incorrect so I purchased much more than I needed and didn't have items that I did need. They should also note that you only have about 30 minutes for lunch and Cambridge eateries can be very crowded on a Sunday. I would have brought a lunch.

I'm reviewing the ILC as a volunteer teacher. This school is fantastic! I have been volunteering…read morehere for a few months and absolutely loving it. I am so impressed with the staff and students. The main focus of the ILC is their intensive English program for immigrants in the community. Students of all backgrounds can join the program (I believe there is currently a waitlist) and be placed into the appropriate level. I help out with the lowest level, where students started from basically zero English. The main teacher is amazing and I am truly impressed with how much the class has learned, all while having fun and creating a close community. There's also a computer lab where students do English practice while also learning computer skills. The ILC also offers other services, like an in-house social worker, workshops to teach other skills, etc. So happy we have an organization like this in Malden!

Just when you think the CSPH couldn't get any better... it does. In January they moved to a larger…read morespace within the Grant Building and it. looks. incredible. The library area is very cozy, and all of their toys and educational supplies are neatly organized, making it easy for folks to look around and explore. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions. They also have a great collection of antique vibrators which are beautifully displayed. I highly recommend checking out the Center for any and all sexuality/gender/women's studies related things. They have an expansive library and an education staff who can point you in the right direction. They also offer monthly workshops, trivia nights, and other fun events. Always a great place to explore and learn!

Megan Andelloux, who runs the Center, is fantastic and will answer absolutely any question you may have. She is really dedicated to keeping this resource open for anyone who wanders in and is not afraid to speak her mind about what she believes. The CSPH is a great addition to The Grant building, and is a great way to put Pawtucket on the map in terms of tourism.
