MOST AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER EVER!!…read more My husband and I were married in Santorini in September 2018 and I could not think of anyone else but Jonathan to photograph our wedding. After seeing the amazing photographs Jonathan took of my sister's wedding in Greece in 2015, my then fiancé and I knew that when we were planning our wedding, Jonathan would need to be our photographer. Words cannot describe just how beautifully he captured our day. The photos are unbelievable stunning. When I look at my photographs, I felt that he captured us during the most natural and relaxed times as he worked seamlessly around us and our guests. Thanks so much Jono for being there to share our day and capture us looking our absolute best! Andi & Theo

Meggan Brummer - Sydney Marriage Celebrant

My now wife and I decided to get married in Sydney as part of a larger trip we were planning (we're…read morefrom the US). We realized pretty quickly that we had no idea what we were doing as neither of us had been to Australia. We didn't know anything about the marriage process there, locations for the ceremony, or even what we should do in bad weather. We did a good deal research on celebrants and spoke to a few before we skyped with Meggan. Of everyone we spoke to, Meggan was the one who seemed to best understand what we wanted for our ceremony and also gave the most helpful suggestions for how we could achieve it. We could tell Meggan was on the same wavelength as us, so we moved forward with her as our celebrant. We wanted a really small and simple ceremony, so we went with Meggan's "no-frills" option. Even with this option, Meggan did all the necessary paperwork, helped us make decisions in the time we needed to, and she was incredibly patient with us (we're contradictorily picky and indecisive). Meggan also skyped with us a few days before the ceremony so we'd all be on the same page for how it would go, which made us feel ready and gave us an opportunity to clear up any last minute questions we had. The ceremony itself was everything we hoped for: simple, sweet, and fun. Meggan was wonderful to work with and we felt comfortable that we were in good hands throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Meggan as a celebrant for anyone looking to get married in Sydney.

It was built between 1811 and 1816. The old Rum Hospital catered to convict patients from 1816 to 1848. It was financed by paying the contractors with 200,000 liters of rum, hence the name the Rum Hospital. The Mint was added in 1854. This was the first branch of the Royal Mint outside of England. The staff lived within the nearby hospital building. It is free to visit. There is also a coffee shop that has a bookshop attached. The bookshop is in an old vault.

Sydney doesn't seem to have many costume shops in sight. Where can I source that ever-important witch wig or Frankenstein mask? Walking through Wynyard station today, I found my place. Overflowing with outrageous glasses, packaged costumes, separates and more, I would be SHOCKED if you couldn't find what you need in here. Going to a Hen's party? What about a theme party at a mate's house? There's more than enough in here. What if you've always yearned to be a zombie Michael Jackson with Elvis shoes, mouse ears and a Rainbow Bright wand? Not a problem. This party store will cover your dress-up bases, and oh so much more.

(You might have to shift through the piles of products to get to it, but trust me, it'll be here!) This shop seems to get a little overexcited when special holidays roll around, so at Halloween, Valentine's Day and Christmas things can get a little crazy. It's sturdy, uncomplicated food, available fresh or frozen, with a delicious looking range of cakes and slices to boot. So what lets them down? I simply can't go past the Saturday lunch for which we were all craving sausage rolls ... the delicious, juicy, meaty ones with crisp flaky pastry. There were none on display, but they assured us they had some and packed them into a bag for us to take home. But it was all wrong! A sausage - yep, a whole skin-covered Frankfurter-like sausage - sticking out the ends of a blanket of flat uninteresting shortcrust. A huge disappointment - one that I am probably taking an irrationally long time to get over. I may venture back, but in a suburb that is back-to-back deli and prepared food options, it's 'rolled' down my list. So sad.

I'd been living in Sydney for all of one week when I wondered up to the Crows Nest Community Centre…read morehoping to find out about the new area I was living. I walked in and happened to find my new community nurse too - ideal timing as my daughter was due for her six month check up that week also. I told the nurse that I was knew to the area and within 5 minutes of me being there she had me on the phone to one of the women in a local mother's group. I'd found a tribe without even trying. I love this centre for a few reasons other than the warm welcome I received from the nurses. Inside there is a place area and change area if you are in need of a place to breastfeed away from the busy streets and cafes. Outside there is a decent grass space that you'll find dozens (no exaggeration here) of mothers with prams or on the weekend market stalls and a general community buzz. There's no doubt Crows Nest is family oriented but what I like about it is that it's still dynamic enough to host an array of young creative types working away on their laptops and specialty shops. Every town needs a hub that is clean, safe and welcoming and the Community Centre feels like that place in Crows Nest.
