Parking up, it doesn't look that impressive, but when you pass through the doors (of what I assume used to be a gigantic Homebase) you are blown away by the sheer awesome scale of the place. You can literally buy everything here, from greetings cards and stationary, to salted nuts and crisps, white goods and domestic electronics, and a huge selection of pet supplies. Top tip if you are visiting for the first time, either set yourself a budget or come with some specific things you want to purchase otherwise you might find yourself with a trolley, a huge bill and a very random selection of well-priced but potentially non-essential goods!

Finally, the woman who checked me out could not have been friendlier. She enquired as to where I'm from, if I'm enjoying Edinburgh, and wished me well on my travels. Consequently, you spend 99% of your time inside trying to navigate to the floor where you want to get to as opposed to actually shopping. All I wanted was a dress and yet it took me a good fifteen minutes of wandering around in circles before I finally gave up and asked a sales assistant before I eventually found the womenswear bit. But this brings me to my next grumble: as far as Debenhams go, this one is really small and so there's really not much selection ot choose from.

There is also a food hall it is not as big as the one in Glasgow but it still has some really tasty food. They stock a variety of dishes, puddings and crisps for afterwards. They also sell greeting cards and wrapping paper.

You can either turn up and flick through the catalogues (they have quite a few different ones), download the catalogues on your mobile device or do what I do and browse/order on line after reading the reviews. If placing an online order you quickly get a text to advise the staff in store have your order ready and it's a quick drive round and there you are. The staff are great and often help customers whether they are trade or DIY with whatever queries they have and are happy to compare items or I've seen some customers bring things in to make sure they are buying the right items/parts for the job. There are a few items out on display in the store, usually plumbing, safety clothing and general decorating items that you often forget about or are handy to have for "spares" for those emergency jobs that happen when you don't expect (and every DIY store is shut).

It's so wonderful to have such a lovely shop in Cumbernauld as the other shops are very cheap and nasty in general. At the back of the gift shop is a coffee shop / ice cream parlour and this is such a perfect partner for all the lovely gifts and cards. The coffee is real quality and everything is very reasonably priced. The ice cream is yummy too and the staff are always so charming and helpful, especially the tall, dark haired handsome fellow! Marshmallow is simply wonderful.

You'll always find this place packed with pram pushing, trackie wearing Vicky Pollard lookalikes, all filling their baskets with pound purchases. Poundland is an amazing store, which is always queued right up the length of the store. Sure, it's unashamedly tacky, and some of the items aren't worth the pound you pay for them, however you'll find some decent essentials in here such as toiletries and stationery. I'm amazed that anywhere can afford to sell absolutely everything for a pound, however it's always incredibly busy, so I imgaine it'll be around for a very long time.

There are also bargains to be had in their food aisle, but you need to be pretty vigilant checking expiry dates etc. They now also accept cards, as long as you spend £5 minimum. The only downside is that the credit crunch is encouraging a lot of people to try this place out, so it can get very busy with the queues.

On my initial visit the Customer Service from one person was extremely good, however, upon returning to order my two bridesmaid dresses the service received by a different person was appalling and I left the shop extremely upset. I got married in April 2010 and to date I am still awaiting a phone call informing me my veil has arrived. I wrote a letter informing the owners of my experience, who were disappointed to learn of my comments; however, I was also informed they were surprised I did not enquire as to the whereabouts of my veil and they have a large number of brides on a weekly basis. Surely, wouldn't you expect first class service in purchasing attire for the biggest day of your life, whether they have a large number of brides on a weekly basis or not, and not just to be treated as a number? As you are putting your trust on one shop isn't it their job to ensure you are kitted out and have everything for your big day as planning a wedding is hectic enough for a bride? Sadly, I would not recommend this store.

I visited this charity shop for the first time today. It's on the small side and packed to the…read morebrim, with lots of bric a brac and books and a decent selection of books; all reasonably priced. I didn't spend too long in the shop this time round as it was really busy and cramped. The clothing section is pretty small; the non hanging items dominate the shop. It also feels a little bit chaotic and disorganised, but I think that's largely down to the volume of stock and the size of the shop. I'll come back here for a browse of bric, DVDS and books, but the other shops nearby have far better offerings in terms of clothing. Regardless, the lady on the till today was friendly despite my flying visit. - I'll still pop in now and then, for sure.
