I won't say "it's magical," it's not. It's just God using 600+ acres for His work. He has blessed the work done at this place, He has blessed it with the resident staff. He has blessed the camp with so many various skills and talents, and I believe that is because they put God first! We all must! The staff, whether resident, intern, or summer staff, works so hard to keep the place maintained, and with God's help, they have definitely maintained it! What a wonderful camp. This was my 2nd time at this camp and it was just as amazing as the first…read moretime. It's a little tricky getting to, but the GPS worked the entire way there and home. They also provide written directions just in case your gps goes wonky and takes you on uncharted roads. The food was plentiful and delicious. And has a good variety so there is something for everyone. Activities varied. This year they had an escape room. It's fun with a big group if you aren't the most competitive person or just very shy. My team did a good job as I just stood there. A group of 9 is perfect. They also had axe throwing. Lots in our group did great. My experience was a dud. I couldn't get a single axe to stick. Still it was fun. I highly recommend both activities to everyone. If you have a chance to visit this camp do it. You'll love it.

There are pool, archery, craft area baseball field, canoeing & hiking trail near the camp. Only 1/2 mile hike to the creek & it's shady so the walk was pretty easy. The lake is about a mile down where you can go fishing as well. Due to covid, the camp was closed & it needs all the volunteer help they can get. You don't even have to be a pro to fix things. You can help cleaning the cabins, painting, housekeeping, just anything. No pressure. It's a great experience for kids too. You can stay there overnight in the cabins & do some hiking too. I wish I can do more. Will be great if they receive some kind of generous donation to fix up the camp. I am counting on the mega lotto, lol. But if anyone like to do a lil getaway from home & don't mind helping out at the camp. Consider this camp. Btw, the scenic drive is lovely!

The camp provides a retreat for exclusively nonprofit organisations to serve their recreational and creative needs. The camp was founded in 1959 by the North Sacramento Optimist Club to establish a camp for underprivileged and handicapped children. The first functional summer camp was held in in 1973. My daughters have attended Camp Ross Relles for several years now as part of the Camp Quest West program. Camp Quest provides an educational adventure with an emphasis on humanist values, including empathy, creativity, critical thinking, and community. Regarding the facilities, I feel that they are well maintained and appropriate for the use by nonprofit child organisations. There is a complex of cabins with bunk beds to house guests. The site is handicap accessible and has a new swimming pool area. Additionally, the camp is right next to the Malakoff Diggins State Historical Park and the historical town of North Bloomfield. Before and after dropping the kids off, there is much to see in the area with the rangers offering tours and gold panning. While my two oldest daughters were at camp, a stayed with my youngest daughter at the Chute Hill Campground. All in all, I highly recommend Camp Ross Relles, Camp Quest West, and the Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park. They are an incredible trio.

Wandering down the trails to find all the little vignettes was fun and then we enjoyed meeting all the animals and feeding them treats. Hard to pick any favorites amongst the animals but the little goats were a big hit since they were so easy to interact with. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and we appreciated the popcorn, cider and water snacks. I'm not sure if we actually found all the items on the "treasure hunt" but they kindly allowed my granddaughter to pick a "prize" anyway and she loved the purple magic wand she chose. One difficulty is that there is no restroom, not even a portapotty. Given the location that is not good as it is quite a distance to get to any place with a public restroom. Another is that there is no way to contact the venue by phone if you have questions. I almost didn't go because I was a bit late and the confirmation I received said that we had to be there at our specific time with no ability to change it. Fortunately my son was able to email them and ask if I could catch up to them on the trail if I arrived a bit late and they responded quickly enough that I didn't have to turn around and go back home (my drive there was two hours).

I had been praying to attend a retreat in awhile and Lo behold I heard about this at one of my parish's announcements so I signed up in hopes to build upon my relationship with God and to be with fellow Jesus-loving followers of Christ. The location is beautiful nestled among tall and gorgeous redwoods, pine trees. I'm really grateful for my experience. The only thing is that the place needs some up-keeping in which I made the suggestion to the coordinators. There was some trash under the bed bunks and it was sad to see the Stations of the Cross left in disarray with some of the ceramic tile stations on the ground. Hopefully they can gather us to help with cleaning as I'd be willing to volunteer and help. But they may also need professional landscapers/tree trimmers. Overall, a beautiful location in Colfax, CA. If you get a chance to do a retreat here, definitely do-so.

It is by the academy and next to the thrift store. I was dropping off some clothes to donate next door and noticed the gates were open. You walk into this serene place with beautiful roses and water fountains. There is benches to telax and a perfect place to unwind! I like that the place has tall beautiful fencing all around the garden! I sat there for about a half hour enjoying the sun and the sounds of the fountains! This is a bit of a hidden gem in Grass Valley. Just be careful on the walkway ! I will spend more time here when i drop off things for donation! Be sure to see my picture of their hours as they do lock the gate entrance at closing time.
