The camp has many housing offerings, and locations. Nice. This is camping and not at all glamping. No wi-fi nor mobile service for most cell phones. One can really get away from it all! I went to the Sierra Club Retreat, and we had many choices of lectures, craft offerings and animal observation opportunities. There was also an astronomer on site with large equipment to view the heavens both morning and evening. There is addition boating and tubing on Stoney Lake and River. The dorm rooms were clean, the shared facilities were also clean. The management pays attention to many cleanliness and activity details. Bravo!

We…read morerented the camp for 3 days so our family and friends could enjoy a long weekend together after the wedding. The location is absolutely beautiful with more than enough space to host our group of about 80 guests, and a wide range of activities that we all enjoyed. The facilities are fairly rustic, but our guests were comfortable, and we were able to host the bridal party and older guests in the cabins with private rooms and AC. The staff was amazing to work with and made us and our guests feel so welcome and at ease. Leading up to the event, they answered our many questions quickly and helped us figure out logistics. During the event they were there for anything we or our guests needed, and helped coordinate the schedule, vendors, etc. By the end of the wedding we felt like part of one big family. We made so many great memories and we can't wait to go back to celebrate anniversaries! I can't recommend Camp Pinewood enough!

They had Bud Light bowling shoot out in the lanes adjacent to the bar. Amy greeted us with a smile and took GREAT care of us. She made excellent entree suggestions - chicken quesadilla add bacon and taco pizza. Amy makes Bloody Mary mix in house and I HAD to have one. It was one of my favorites by far! NO HORSERADISH!! Any idea how hard it is to find a Bloody Mary without horseradish? In any case, they do have some of you want it, it can be mixed in. Let me be frank - this place is NOT fancy, however it's nowhere near the biggest dive we've been to. Food was great, service was even better. And cheap! Verlander punched his ticket out of purgatory to win a title with the cheatin' Astros. But poor old Miguel Cabrera was stuck being a future Hall of Famer languishing with the damn Bad News Bears. That's kind of how it seems having a roller coaster like Shivering Timbers at a park like Michigan's Adventure. This ride is a masterpiece! Hill after hill after hill with each crest delivering delicious, diabolical airtime. There's a bad pothole at the bottom of the second hill but beyond that it's not that rough for a wooden coaster of its size. It's big and long, cutting an imposing figure over the parking lot. The logo might even be more handsome than the coaster itself. No other ride in the park had guests so hyped. One little girl returning to the station was absolutely shook by its intensity. Like her whole body was vibrating and it seemed like she was trying to decide if she really liked what she had just experienced or if it was just too much. Then there was the dude in the Holiday World hat, Six Flags Great America shirt and Kings Island fanny pack shamelessly reveling in coaster freak nerdiness, no doubt marathoning this airtime machine. When Corkscrew returned to the station and the ride mc gave the classic "Welcome back, riders! How was your ride on Corkscrew?" my trainload barely managed a peep. The same call and response routine on Shivering Timbers brought some serious decibels and enthusiasm. I knew ST delivered plenty of airtime but I was taken a bit by surprise by how intense the helix is at the end. Absolutely wild! I rode Shivering Timbers twice on my recent trip to MA, once near the back and once in the front row and it delivered thrilling, intense rides both times. I kept my hands up the whole time in the front row and I don't know if I'd do that again. My noggin did get a bit rattled from that; hands up in the front row was rougher than hands down near the rear of the train. After some time in the water park I returned to Shivering Timbers hoping to ride at least two or three more times. Unfortunately this park's signature attraction (for coaster lovers at least) was experiencing some downtime so I hopped on some lame midway ride and hightailed it out of the park as I had a long way north to drive to join some friends for camping before sunset. (Can't miss those Lake Michigan sunsets!) As I drove my way out of the Michigan's Adventure parking lot I saw the mighty Shivering Timbers thundering its way through its course packed with riders again. D'oh! Can't win em all, I guess. I'm at least glad I got to ride ST twice. If Michigan's Adventure didn't have this ride I probably wouldn't have even bothered with this park, and that's coming from a lifelong Michigander with a soft spot for his home state.

That's like almost 40 years of…read moreloving and riding any and all roller coasters I could find from Disney land to Disney world...from mall parking lot carnivals to state/ county fairs, 6 flags and everything in between. This is the ONLY coaster I have hated. We rode every ride in the park then rode shivering timbers before riding the others a second time. Well, it ended up being our last ride. All of us including our 13 year old had to leave and went straight home after this one. It isnt scary. It doesn't do anything more than most wooden coasters by way of thrill..what it does do, though, is slam your body all over the place, whip your head and neck around while providing no neck support. It comes off the tracks and comes back down with a spine cracking thud over and over and over. Had I been able to, I would have gotten off halfway through. This is poorly engineered and I am shocked the park hasn't been sued by someone more litigious than I for back and neck injuries over this ride.
