Here is what a "typical day" actually looks like: * The "Do Nothing" Woods Trip: They march you into the woods to sit there and do nothing. The "challenge course" features a broken giant timber seesaw and a dangerous stand-up swing that almost launches you directly into a tree trunk. You have to be on high alert instead of having fun. * Useless Sports Areas: The Gaga pit has no ball. The Nine Square court has a completely deflated ball. The basketball court has a half-blown-up ball that won't bounce, and they constantly run out of kickballs because the field is close enough to the lake where you can kick it over the fence with no netting to stop them from rolling in. * Awful Supervision: They brag about "extreme supervision," but older kids constantly wander in and completely take over the Gaga pit when they are supposed to be somewhere else. They also do that with basketball games and Gaga, counselors do nothing to stop it. * Miserable Scheduling: Mondays start with a swim test where they make you sit in the blazing hot sun for an hour with zero shade or activities while they slowly test groups one by one. * Closed Activities: Archery 1 was open exactly once all summer. Archery 2 is always closed because counselors don't want to walk that far back into the woods. The only good parts of the entire day are the weekly kayaking and the Snack Shack. Everything else is broken, boring, or lazy. I am moving to a YMCA travel camp next year and cannot wait to leave this place behind. Save your money.

It was a little over two hours with a short intermission in the middle of several comedian's routines. There are some very light refreshments, wine, and soft drinks. It would have been nice if there was something a little more substantial then candy bars and bags of chips. That's the only complaint. Otherwise, I would go again. But I would eat first.

The number and range of activities are amazing and there is great flexibility in allowing kids to try new things and adjust their schedules when they find what they love. We used this camp for an Adult Retreat for an overnight stay. We were unable to use our room to…read moresleep in due to the smell and the bedding being in such poor condition. Rooms were 'finished' in particle board - one of our group got a serious splinter from one of the walls. If it rains during your stay, please know that the dark wooden stairs leading to the sleeping quarters become very slick when wet and are not safety marked or covered with a tread/rubber. I slipped on a stair as I lost my footing on a wet, crooked staircase and got a painful injury to my left shin. The food was awful. Several in our company couldn't eat, and I was sick from it the next morning. The drinking water was not clear in color. The grounds are pretty (although distinct and maintained pathways across the grass would have been very helpful, particularly for wet weather) and the young people that made up the attending staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen did prepare food our group brought in for special needs, but unfortunately did not announce the vegetarian food items so some of our group missed part of their meal. Go carts, pool were well maintained and staffed. Unfortunately the microphone/sound system we received to use during our presentations was delivering such strong feedback that our speakers had to abandon it and the same microphone set-up caused a lot of trouble for the karaoke that we had pre-arranged for an evening activity. Communication could have been much better during planning and execution and we were really disappointed in some of our dealings with management.

On the registration, you were required to specify riding ability, age, height, and weight. My daughter has been riding for about 4 years and is a fairly experienced rider. She also is 5'10. I questioned the camp if they would have a horse for her to ride and it was confirmed they would. Upon arrival, my daughter brought in her bags to the bunk house that was probably 500 square feet and would sleep 15 girls. The bunk beds were so thin and the ceiling so low, that my daughter could not even sit up in her bed. She bumped her head every night. At the time I dropped he off, I didn't realize that not only was this the bunk house but also were the girls did everything. They are in this small area too. The week's weather was quite rainy. The instructor had the girls riding bareback in the rain. All the horses were mostly ponies and looked sickly and were left outside in a small corral even at night. At night, when it was time to go to bed, my daughter informed me that the bathrooms were locked and they would have to squat outside. I asked if they at least supplied flashlights and they didn't. My daughter lasted 2 1/2 days. When she was calling home and was miserable, she didn't tell my husband and myself any of this information. The last straw was when she called and told m husband and I that the campers were driven into town for dinner and there was not enough seats in the van so the girls had to sit on the laps of other girls. When my husband finally went to pick her up after the 2 days, the director locked herself in her farmhouse and refused to speak to him. No money was returned to us, no apologies, nothing. Maybe at one point this might have been a nice camp, but now it seems that it is not run well or even cared for. When my daughter told my husband and I all that went on, I felt terrible I kept her there that long. The week she was there, 3 other campers left as well. This camp truly needs some help.
