Start with all of the women in the Old Testament, then Our Blessed Mother, Mary, who carried and brought Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ INTO this world. They have beautiful stained glass with some holy icons and paintings. The parish is named after St. Germaine Cousin - Patron Saint of victims of child abuse. (Short biography: https://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=52 ) One thing I truly embraced after joining the Catholic Church in 2011 AD, is their use of art to help focus your mind toward worshiping God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit. If you don't understand the language, you can see the art. If you don't understand the liturgy yet, you can feel the music. I truly adore the art and music found in the Catholic Church. The Christian tradition I was raised in didn't place much value on art in the sanctuary, though they had good music. The prayer garden they have to the left of the office is gorgeous! It's not huge, but they have some fantastic murals depicting key events in Salvation history. You might not think much about prayer gardens until you've had some tough times in life, and grow to appreciate the simpler things of life. Finding a place to commune with nature and clear your mind of the, "world's rat race", has become part of my Christian walk. When I was younger, I was always rushing to the next career level, education level, and accomplishment level. Nowadays, I find the time to enjoy things for what they are; appreciating the simple things. I like to splurge, but now I have a richer faith life which magnifies everything - people, places and things. It's like the colors are sharper, the day and night are more contrasted, and the good times are better. I can't explain it - perhaps that's why I love taking photos. Photos allow me to share my thoughts in both more detail and in a humbler way. All right grasshopper - enough "mystical thought." Being with Immaculate Mother regularly over the past many years, living out the events of…read moreRevelation since 2014 (only recognising they were in fact Biblical events in hindsight, through other divinely orchestrated synchronous events) We feel it is important to share our experiences! I originally met rev David when I pulled over to speak with him on the highway! I had seen him many times in driving past him in the morning as he speed walks in his long black habit on the highway by the parish. I am keenly present to the Holy Mother's disappointment about all the trash along the highway & thought, as a priest of HER parish walking it every day, maybe he could help pick it up! He seemed good natured as I asked him and he shared they led teams of trash pickup along the highway every 3 months. Then I saw him later that same morning at Georgie's restaurant for breakfast, I thought maybe he would be open to a conversation about my experiences as he was probably an expert in the subject matter I have been living. I asked him if he would please council me & give his understanding of my experiences since as a priest, he is meant to be an expert in listening for the fulfilment of these prophecies! It was actually made very clear in Revelations 12 that it would be HER coming on the clouds in the end! But maybe I misunderstood the social permission to approach him in the restaurant when I saw him dancing closely with the waitress and laughing with others who stopped to say hello. I was crushed when he barely looked at me as he begrudgingly gave me his number when I asked if he would listen to what happened. Sadly, I tried to follow up but it was a landline which he didn't mention when I had said I would text him to set a time. It's not that I don't want to make a phone call, it was more the feeling that he did not want to "put up with me!" Later, in hearing these words come out of his mouth at the end of mass inviting more participation from the men, "Men, please, I have had to PUT UP WITH all of these women (in service) by myself!" Maybe I missed the joke (consider it is not funny!) but it did feel like a slap in the face to all the women willing to help & to Holy Virgin he is meant to love & serve in HER parish! Consider that we honour Her in part with how we treat women, in fact, "Honouring HER!" is the very theme of this entire existence system! (Which I have experienced holding between my very own thumb & forefinger in one of my fields and on an even higher field, and in a freakishly terrifying scale, ON A HAIR ON A SINGLE FEATHER ON MY RIGHT WING!! In hearing you speaking of the Paraclete in mass, whom Jesus said "My Father will send the Paraclete whom will teach you all that you need to know." (to receive the inheritance) One would think you would be more clear about who the person of the Holy Spirit is. If one pays attention and seeks the Highest truth diligently, the Bible makes it quite clear that Holy Spirit is Sophia;Mother of the Logos. It's not the first time we have heard a priest make demeaning comments about what women are good for. In Bisbee, it was casserole making ! Immaculate Mother is sorely present to not being honoured in a church supposedly all about Her! When after thinking maybe because I wasn't attending mass and went today, when he didn't even look at me much less greet me, I gave up wanting the contact. On a side note, at least the parishioners were kind and I made a new friend.

The church is gorgeous and creates a truly reverent and peaceful, welcoming atmosphere no matter the liturgical season. Confession is now made available during Sunday Mass with a second priest in the confessional. We love when the IC school children are lectors! The gift shop is wonderful for baptism, 1st communion and confirmation gifts. They also run a SVDP Thrift Store by all volunteers which is just lovely! Christ and his everlasting hope are alive and well at IC!

This beautiful, historical church is a real hidden treasure in the heart of Jerome. I was totally…read morestunned when I walked through the drab doors and poorly cared for exterior to find one of the most beautiful churches you in Northern Arizona. I'd say that this church is a heavy contender for "most beautiful church of Northern Arizona" with the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which can be found in Flagstaff. This church has (thankfully) been left untouched by the changing liturgical moods of the Catholic Church, and the entire place is full of stunning statuary and gorgeous decorative touches. The altar rail is still in place. The original Sacred Heart banner which the parish used to use (as seen in some of the historical photos toward the back of the church) is still there, on display near the altar at the front of the church. It seems that the faithful here also had a great devotion to St. Anthony Mary Claret, and it looks like there is a first class relic of his on display at the right hand side of the altar, though I can't say for sure. All in all, this church is gorgeous and I'm sure that the Tridentine Mass (which is celebrated here on Saturdays) is stunning, though I haven't had the privilege of attending personally. I will be back to see this church again whenever I pass through Jerome.

The chapel was completed in 1956 with a cost of $300K. While there are no tickets or entry fees required, donations are always welcome to help maintain the site. There's free parking available all the way to the top of the chapel and free shuttle service. There's a gift shop to buy books and beautiful rosaries etc. The chapel offers spectacular panoramic views and a peaceful atmosphere. Check it out when in the area! Happy Yelping :)

Built into a mountain, you will likely never see a church this unique in your lifetime. You can come and light a prayer candle, have silent reflection, and connect with your spirituality. Note: there is a gift shop downstairs under the church. I almost missed it because there are no visible signs. Worth a browse. Logistically, however, I'm not sure if I would ever do this again. We visited in the late morning (before lunch) on a week day. Parking took over 30 minutes, and presented a bit of an unsafe situation with people blindly backing their cars into a curvy steep hill while pedestrians walked without paying attention. There were also just way too many people; I felt claustrophobic most of the experience. The views outside are gorgeous and highly photogenic, but WOW! Crazy busy.
