I requested a different room that reeked of curry. I opted to return to the first room and just open the windows. The major problem I encountered started at night and seemed to be the a/c system from other rooms as I turned off mine. The a/c system is ancient and the noise it made bothered me so much that it made falling asleep difficult and staying asleep also difficult. It drone on in a strange way with the sound traveling through the walls into the bed. The a/c unit in my room was really loud and made strange sounds periodically. I turned it off. The fridge was also make a strange high pitch noise. It was plugged into an extension outlet with other things. I unplugged a few things and that weird sound went away. The breakfast was better than average for a Comfort Inn...It would be worse in the USA. I got a couple of mini crossaints, jam, and butter, banana, and yogurt (better quality that US equivalent). The coffee was really weak...watery but drinkable...The coffee cups were tiny! Because of the noise and smell problems I will not be returning to this property.

Our AML ship was a three decker design that made the 3.5 hour round trip enjoyable (although the constant loud rumble of the diesel-powered engine can drive one crazy). Maximum ship capacity is 250 persons. We're on the lookout for whales; Blue, Fin, Minke, and/or Beluga! Thick fog blanketed the trip out to the St. Lawrence River feeding area where salt and fresh water converge. TIP: BYOF (bring your own food) or prepare to held for a Pirates ransom! Soupe asiatique/Asian Soup aka instant noodles w/boiling water is $4.00 or get the deal of the day which is a Hot Dog Garni for $3.50. This is my third time on this ship and I still haven't seen Free Willy!

We saw a few pods of baluga, a minky whale, and a humpback whale, but we mostly saw their blowholes and dorsal fins, not a lot of cool tail action or flippers. We didn't like that the boat came to our port in st Catherine already full of people from another port but we found a good spot at the front eventually. If you want a small boat to get closer to whales and move around faster, we recommend the zodiac tours instead. The guide was good but it was hard to understand him over the speaker. We enjoyed hot chocolate and pretzels. Dress warm!!!! We also enjoyed gift shop.

Our room was large and had wood floors instead of carpet which we liked. The TV was internet ready and apps included Netflix and Amazon Prime which was a bonus because the cable channels were basic. The room had also a small fridge, a microwave, a safe and coffee maker We had a king bed and a pullout sofa bed. The view was the parking lot and a car dealership but none of the views were amazing. The only negative comment about the room was the bathroom. When we arrived we saw long, black hair all over the floor. Pooh took a picture of it and showed it to the person at the reception. The man said he would send someone up to check it out but when the maintenance person arrived he only looked at the floor in the living area; he didn't even go in the bathroom. I ended up cleaning the bathroom floor. For that reason only I give this hotel 3 stars.

Upon check-in I was told none of the restaurants were open that night. (this may be a Mondays problem?) I was given a list of local restaurants that deliver food to the hotel. I called St. Huberts, it tool over 2-hours to get food delivery. For a relativerly expensive travelers hotel ($177 a night) they can do so munch better.

It is a museum with much of the original period furniture in place. The site has incredible views and the wrap around porch is a perfect resting place. You can almost sense the old guy in the place. The original wallpaper is evident in the dining room but most rooms have new wallpaper installed in 1905! Beds are comfortable. Clean. Go for the accommodation...not for the breakfast. We chose Oeufs en cocotte but passed on eating them. They were undercooked and basically raw looking. The slice of homemade bread was very good but the portion of butter and preserves for the two of us was inadequate - less than you would get in a single plastic container in a chain restaurant. Good coffee though only available at the exact time of breakfast. I believe the "aubergiste" though very pleasant was overwhelmed in her position. I first experienced that in booking the room, on arrival, and prior to breakfast. I would encourage people to consider this place as a worthwhile stop but be aware of its limitations.

The rooms are un-modern but large and very comfortable. Breakfast is great and you will take it in a little dining area overlooking the river. The house itself is in a exquisite and quiet setting. It's offer a lovely view of the St. Lawrence. If you want to bike in the Rivière-du-Loup area, which is my cas, it's really well located. May also be a good place if you want to drive around the region.
