There was no comparison to Restoration 1, they blew the competition away. The quoting process was easy, Eric came by right away and provided a very competitive price. He was easy to work with and helped me navigate the nightmare of working with my insurance company. Rob, their construction manager, sealed the deal though. His level of service was beyond compare. Every company said it would be impossible to match my existing flooring so I would need to replace all flooring because it's continuous throughout my condo. Naturally, I asked to see what they would be replacing it with. Rob came by with his bag of samples so I could see my options - my insurance contractor would not do this without first giving them the job, which is just crazy. Rob took one look at my floor and said "This is a nice floor, I don't have any standard samples you'll like. I'll have to track something down." And he did! He contacted a bunch of suppliers and a few weeks later he came to both my home and work to review the samples he found. He worked his ass off and made sure he found something I liked. The work itself was executed flawlessly. I decided to get my place painted while they were doing the floors, paid out of pocket since that wasn't covered by insurance. Again, great pricing on the painting. Very high quality work - they take their time and pay attention to the small details. I had a very small punchlist when they were done and they took care of it all without any complaints. I would both recommend them to others and I would use them again if I ever need work done. I found and reviewed them on Homestars as well, which is a great place to look for contractors.

It was Christmas Day morning we discovered a slow leak in our basement. I called a handful of companies I found on Google, John's team was the only team to call me back the same afternoon and immediately offered me free advice on what to do myself. He didn't need to come same day, so we booked for next day. He arrived himself with all his tools to check for water and mould. For the last two months, he's been the only person who cares and has been following the details, everything from the emergency work to the things insurance missed in their own estimate of our house. He's one of those guys who works for the big insurance companies, they know him, his reputation and his estimates are realistic. He was able to get what we needed to restore the damage from the flood. No disputes, super smooth, I'm super happy. If it wasn't because of him I wouldn't have noticed the low estimate our insurance company offered at first. If you're reading this and are looking for someone help you with emergency work and restoration with an insurance claim, talk to John, he'll ensure you're doing things by the book, in the right order. There's a lot of scammers out there taking shortcuts and taking advantage of customers in an emergency situation, becareful. John knows a lot about water damage, mould and how to restore things to how they were and he takes care of all the paper work, without any addition fees. He's a do-gooder. Thank you John for everything you did for us in our new house and the new floors that needed replacing from water damage. Bless ya!

He took the time to answer every single question we had and went above and beyond in every aspect of the work. Again, we are just so grateful that we worked with John and his team. Our basement looks even better than it was before the flood! Thank you!!!

I waited and no one came. My tenants informed me they had come only once the whole snowy month. On Sunday January 4, I asked for my money back ( see previous text for the reasons). That same day I was assured that the snow would be removed that same day. No one came or contacted me. I texted to request that the snow be removed the next Monday. I called, since I got no response. Again I was promised they would come that evening. The tenants and I waited in vain. Therefore I requested again a refund of the $900. I received no response.

The communications and interactions were very friendly and detailed. The tree cutting was done very professionally by Bruno and his team. They didn't just cut. Before cutting, a plan was done for each cut to obtain the best results. Clean up of the cuttings was done immediately. They lost 1/2 point due to the dragging of some of the cuttings over my other plants. The team even cut up some of the tree branches and stacked them for us to use as fire wood. I would definitely recommend and used them again.

Before I left Toronto on May 23, my Blue Spruce was healthy with vibrant, green new growth. When I returned in mid-June, I found extensive damage: large sections of new growth had turned brown, twisted, and appeared chemically burned. Several nearby plants also showed signs of chemical staining and leaf injury. Tree Doctors had applied a Needlecast treatment on May 29 and on June 6. When I reported the damage and asked for someone to assess the situation in person, Tree Doctors offered nothing but excuses. They did not take responsibility, nor did they send anyone to evaluate the harm their treatment had done to my tree. Their response--marked by dismissiveness and a lack of accountability--was disappointing and upsetting. I am now consulting an independent arborist to assess the impact on my trees and surrounding plants. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Tree Doctors. Their poor communication and failure to stand behind their work have caused lasting damage in my garden.

This review informs potential customers of our poor experience dealing with Direct Pro Windows and…read moreDoors, and, most particularly, their salesperson, Alex. On October 26, 2021, we entered into an agreement with Direct Pro to deliver and install seven new windows, including two bow windows, and windows in the kitchen, dining room, two upstairs bedrooms and an upstairs bathroom. The agreed price was $10,800. After 10 months, our cost had now increased to $14,650. In March 2022, measurements and other specifications were rechecked by a Direct Pro technician. He concluded that Alex had underestimated the extent of new framing that would be necessary for the windows. Alex said our contract would have to be amended. Initially, he estimated that an additional $3500 would have to be added to the contract, but he said he'd give us a break and charge us only $2200 more. We were surprised he made such a simple error, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. On April 27, 2022, installation of the windows began. The installation crew was careful and hard-working. Installation went well until installation of the two bow windows began. We were taken aback by the design: at every junction of the window panes, there was now a tall "fin" protruding about 5", with a width of 2". This was not at all what we agreed to. Indeed, we had no prior discussion about the design of these windows. We assumed that these windows would be like the bow windows shown in the Direct Pro website gallery. We could not accept the ugly design which Alex had directed to be built. The installers agreed it was most unusual. And they refused to complete the job as it was clear we were not happy with it. Alex said if we wanted to change the bow windows back to the usual design, we'd have to pay an additional $2000 because all the bow windows would have to be taken out and replaced. I refused because he was totally at fault. My wife agreed to pay him $1000 because he told her the installers would not return if we did not pay. On May 2, the installers returned to complete the work. Instead of removing the bow windows and reinstalling them, they said Alex told them to just remove the wood beams in between the windows. They used sledge-hammers. The wood frames around the panes were then in poor shape, but the installers said they could cover up most of the blemishes and gouges with ¼" thin wood planking. It still did not look good with the many remaining screw holes left in the window frames. The installers covered these up with wide plastic strips. We weren't happy with the appearance. We were just as concerned with the functionality (both short- and long-term) of the openers at both ends of the bow windows. Since that time, the openers on the bow windows had become increasingly misaligned/ warped. They didn't close at the top and the latches were very difficult to open and close. On August 17, we paid for a visit by technicians from the window manufacturers. They were able to make the windows shut, from top to bottom, by installing new clasps. We hoped this was the end of the problem. But, by September 7, the warping had begun again; the openers were very hard to open and shut. We fear that the warping/misalignment is permanent and will only get worse with time. With the recent announcement of "dissolution pending" by a federal agency against Direct Pro, we are now concerned that any service we require to fix this problem will no longer be available from Direct Pro.
