I came to pick up an item that I ordered online. Store is big with lots of items in stock, well organized. You can easily find what you're looking for. It's nice that they sell things from party city too. I like shopping at Canadian tire especially around Christmas time. My absolutely biggest retail pet peeve is when retail staff are rude to immigrant or ethnic families just because they don't think they can complain or retaliate due to their communication skills. My bf's dad was at this location to pick up his online order - he was told it would be "two small boxes" in the back. When he went to the back, there were four warehouse workers (teenagers/young adults) dicking around and they told him this huge singular box was his order. Bf's dad was confused and asked them to confirm because it did not look like what he had ordered. The teens immediately dismissed his concerns and said that it IS his order and to go rent a truck so he could take it home. Bf's dad is confused but complied, since the big box wouldn't fit in his car, he went to rent a Home Depot truck and came back to pick up the box. However, when he came back, the large box was gone and picked up by another customer and his original order of the two small boxes were there. The teens saw this and realized they made an error by not double checking and causing my bf's dad to spend $ on a rental truck for the wrong order - and they all sprinted away. He got his order and went into the store to speak to a manager because this is completely unacceptable and absolutely horrible customer service.. he was met by a short lady (named Christina? christine?) and she gave the nastiest attitude and asked him "what do you want me to do about it?" Absolute ew. I get you don't like working your nights in retail but HOW did you become a manager? What are you even managing if you can't find a way to fix an issue that gets brought to your attention? No action was taken until we called corporate who reimbursed the rental truck in Canadian tire dollars and we asked to be connected to the store so we can make sure we filed a formal complaint about the warehouse staff and the evening manager especially. The general manager was kind though, and identified the staff which he promised would need to go through training and of course "the evening manager perceived the situation differently" - l o l of COURSE she did... my eyes are rolling so hard, they may get stuck in the back of my head. I'm working on a garden revamp and was looking for a variety of planters of different shapes and sizes. The Canadian Tire website had a great selection at really good prices. The only store that had all of the ones I wanted, was the Ajax store. Customers aren't allowed in the store but you can still put in an order for curbside pickup. They do indicate on the site that you should expect to wait a little longer since there are a lot of orders being placed online. I immediately received an email confirmation that my order was placed but it wasn't ready for pickup until the next day. We decided to pickup around 1pm on a Saturday. There was a huge line snaking into the parking lot. There were big signs that indicated that you had to check-in with an associate at the curb before parking and waiting for your order. The parking lot was labelled by letters and the associate let me know where to park. The parking lot was pretty full so I settled in for a long wait. Somehow we only waited about 5 minutes when someone came out with our order. The cars next to us seemed to have been parked for a lot longer so maybe we just got lucky because our order was easy. Overall it was a pretty smooth process even though the initial line up was a little daunting. The planters were exactly as described on the website, complete with drainage holes. I find the cashiers very rude and racist. I did not find the staff friendly at all made me very awkward to even ask a question then when I found what I was looking for it went to the front. The cashier was not friendly at all given me attitude I did not appreciate it at all. I truly think the staff at that store needs to go into mediation or something to be more kind to ethnicities. read more

On April 29/2020 I ordered (for curbside delivery) a Libman Tornado Mop (Product #142-2220-6) which was on sale at this Ajax store for $13.99, original price $17.49 and showed as available. The order went through and I received an email confirming purchase and stating that I would receive an email advising me as to when I could pick the mop up. On Sunday, May 3rd/2020 I received an email from the store advising me that my order was cancelled with no explanation. I then decided to go back to their website to see if the item was out of stock to then find that the item was available and had gone back to the original price. Because of this, I would prefer to go across to Home Depot and pay a bit more or to order online from Amazon than to give Canadian Tire my business. I fully respect that we are going through a crisis at this time, that said, there is no need for this, or any other business to take advantage of their customers, whose patronages they would desperately need to survive after this pandemic is over. I have shopped at this store for the last few years, more for the convenience and to support Canadian business, other to that I have always found the service quite poor. read more

I took my car for tire swap from winter to all seasons and I was told that all 4 all seasons were bad (where infact one of them was brand new , just 4 months old), and i had to replace 4 tires instead of 3 and ended up paying 200$ more. The manager was arguing instead of apologising. it seems they put profit people people, taking customers for granted. i had such high expectations on canadian tire ajax , however i've been let down completely read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE. The Ajax location customer service is dishonest. This morning, we went to return a Black & Decker toaster oven, which we purchased a week ago. On our first use we noticed that the left side of the oven door had a gap and was not sealed completely. So with our receipt we went to get a refund. Only to be told by the manager that "Once opened no refunds, only exchange." We asked for a store credit, she said NO. So she got a replacement. We asked to have it opened in the store and the the oven door was not sealed as well. There is a defect in the oven. Finally she gave us a store credit card valid for One year only. The cost of the oven is 89.99 on sale. DO NOT SHOP HERE - BUYER BEWARE. NO REFUNDS GIVEN. Also was told that each Canadian Tire is owned by a different person and make their own policies. We asked for the name of the owner but was she would not disclose. We will never stop at a Canadian Tier again. read more

I had good experience while maintaining my car regularly at Canadian Tire auto garages from years. Unfortunately, I visited Ajax Canadian Tire auto garage for car service but I had a bitter and awful experience when dealing with one of the auto associates. He tried to trick me and wanted to gouge on my pocket by overestimating almost double than normal from other Canadian stores. I asked for specific maintenance job but I noticed from window that mechanics started to inspect my whole car without my consent. I believe the associate on counter was unprofessional, having lack of knowledge about his trade and not honest by giving overestimates to trick but I realized him about his overestimated quotes. I requested to talk to somebody else as I was feeling nervous and not satisfied because of his ill attitude by interrupting and not listening to me but he declined my request and insisted that he is the only one to help me out; although there were few other associates on counter free. Because of his unprofessional, and threatening language, I was feeling nervous on his overestimation and physically unsafe because of his aggressive mood I relied to leave without fixing my car. For curiosity reason, I searched for reviews about this auto garage and found that their reputation is not good because of unsatisfied customers. I wish, I could have gone through the customers reviews first before my visiting to their auto garage. read more

Canadian Tire used to be my go-to store I have bought some stuff there over the years between Automotive between kitchenware between home run oh everything you could potentially want. The last few times I've gone I'm getting used product and I'm not getting used to just use product I'm getting defective used product if somebody makes a return in the store how come it's so hard to double check to see if it's been used you open the box you have a look and you know. I bought a solar star to go outside the first one I bought for $100 the wire is it even been clipped. I drove back returned it to the store so do you have anymore? The girl replied no I'm sorry that was the last one we had in stock I know we were at the end of the season I was a little bit disappointed. So I went out looking. I found one 3 that weren't listed in the system cuz apparently they didn't have any more stock of them and out of those three boxes they were all used. I found a 4th one up on a high shelf and I had to get a gentleman to come along and help me get it down. It is now hanging in my backyard and I saved myself $20. Did you know that if you take an item up to the customer service desk and you ask them could you please do it price check for me? They'll tell you the current price then they'll go back for the week to two weeks prior to that and let you know if it was on sale and if you missed it and the offer that price well that's just fantastic but do you not think that maybe you should be doing that for every customer in your store and not just offering a few select people a deal? I'm kind of peeled because I have a credit card for this store and it annoys me to know that I pay my credit card and I purchase items here at regular price and yet all I had to do is take my order and the girls are going to discount it for me like how fair is that I'm sorry if I missed the sale no one should be and I'm sorry if you like your job you need to check your items more because I have so many solar lights that I purchased from here and they're missing out of the damn box very frustrating I believe Canadian Tire should only a tank of gas. Management needs to step up and people that don't want to do their jobs deserve to be fired! read more

I like this location. This store is big. I go there for car stuff and cleaning items and household items. Prices are good for stuff and there's always deals. If you use the app there's more ways to collect CT money. Theres always a cashier open. Staff don't alway know where things are you might be looking for. read more

I had an awful experience at Canadian Tire Ajax on News Years Eve. I needed a new battery. I realized it was going to be busy. I realized that there were a lot of people that needed new batteries so I might be out of luck. After having one employee visually check stock to ensure the battery I needed was in stock, I agreed to the work. Over an hour later they called me and said that the battery I needed was not in stock. I was so angry when I left that store. I did complain to the Auto Department Manager, and he went above and beyond to ensure that I was treated fairly. The solution that Canadian Tire agreed to was exactly what I had requested. read more

Worst experience at the Auto department. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would. DO NOT even think about dealing with this department. The auto manager even admitted his employees aren't the brightest. I was given someone else's all-season tires in May when I was supposed to be given back my winter tires and rims that I only used for one season. As a young woman who has very little knowledge about vehicles, I trusted the employees who put the tires in my car. This put me in a situation where I had to spend $800 elsewhere on new winter tires & rims because of the incorrect tires that were given. The entire discussion has been so back and forth and the manager said that he hopes that I learned a lesson out of this. Not even taking the blame for the mistakes that were made. I've never felt so blindsided when this was not my mistake. I brought the all-season tires to the auto manager to show him what I was given. He made it very clear that he didn't believe me, even though I had proof that I was given out what was to believed to be my correct tires. The way this entire situation was handled has been awful. Not even an apology on his teams behalf. -UPDATE: Left this review on google as well, and their customer service team provided me with a phone number to their corporate location which I already called, and have been patiently waiting to hear back after several weeks. Funny how quick they are to cover themselves by responding to negative reviews but do absolutely nothing about it. read more

This location would have received a higher rating from me a week ago but after my last visit there, forget about it. The cashier was rude and argumentative and chose to fight with us at checkout rather than help us. She was very condescending and lacked the skills to work in customer service. We filed a formal complaint with their head office and yet to hear back from them. Every other time we've been there we had not had any problems. However with this last experience, we will be going to the Whitby or Markham locations instead. Not worth going to deal with angry cashiers that prefer to sass customers rather than help them. read more

I brought my car here after I tried Canadian Tire's Redtek refrigerant recharge. I recharged my AC using their recharge kit, which I now realize wasn't necessary. After recharging, the AC wasn't nearly as cold as before so I decided to bring it in to get checked out. After my car was in the garage for about 20 minutes I was told it needed a new condenser and compressor ($1401.16 for parts) + labour, bringing the repair bill to over $2100 with labour. I declined to have the repairs done before I got a second opinion. I then brought my car to a different garage in Ajax, where the mechanic there inspected my AC. It turns out that I discharged refrigerant when I was recharging my AC using Redtek. I got my compressor refilled and the system recharged. The AC now blows colder than it ever has. I would not recommend going to Canadian Tire for service unless you have money to throw away. read more

Yesterday I brought in my car to the Canadian Tire in Ajax to fix my car. I had indicated to them that my car had some smoke coming from underneath the roof the day before. My husband indicated it coming from a fan under the roof, in the passenger side, and on the inside of the car by the grill. We also informed CT that immediately after, the air conditioning stopped working and then the day after I noticed that the temperature guage increased to the RED line. CT informed me that they would take a look at my car and because Volkswagen was closed at the time, that they would like to keep my car overnight and talk to volkswagen and get a price on the fan. This morning, I called Canadian Tire and unfortunately they were not ready with the quote on the car repair so they asked if they can call me back. I eventually got a call back from Canadian Tire and they informed me that the problem I had was due to the fan, serpentine belt, and thermostat needed to be changed. CT informed me that the after market fan that they have in stock only had 2 wires (or something) whereas the VW fan had 3 wires and this is what I needed for my car. Although it was $150.00 more to get the VW part, I went ahead and agreed that it was ok to get the VW fan. CT quoted me a total of $1011.00 for the following repairs: new fan, coolant system flush, serpentine belt replaced, new thermostat, labour, and tax. I picked up my car this afternoon and paid approx $1000.00 in cash for my car. I drove my car and within an hour or less, I saw that my temperature gauge was increasing again and that it was hitting the red line. THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM! I WAS DEVASTATED as the money that I had given to CT was the last of my savings and they had indicated that my car had been fixed. I called CT and informed them that my car and informed them that my car was still having the same problem as before. They infomred me that I should take my car back to Canadian Tire which I did. Unfortunately I had to leave my car there overnight again as all the mechanics had left for the night. I was devastated as I need my car for tomorrow to get to work and see my patients (I am a research nurse working at Sunnybrook Hospital) A couple of months ago I went to the same Canadian Tire to have my husbands car balanced. I paid over $100.00 for the balancing but after looking at the read out on the 'before' and 'after' balancing of the wheels, there was hardly any difference. I complained that time as well about them taking my money and not having any actual work done on the car. They offered to repeat the balancing at no charge which I accepted. But this is still unacceptable. How could they hand over the car to me, accepting payment, and not have done their part???????? read more

Every time I come to this location is okay I guess until one day my husband and I walked in and got tricked into applying for a Canadian tire MasterCard. The employee kept on calling the card a points card and did not disclose that it was a credit card. We were offered to apply for a points card that you can earn points to get a discount on gas. Right after I notice it was a credit card we immediately called master card and got it canceled. read more

Buyer beware! This location has a lack of knowledge and customer service. My best advice is if you have a problem with your car, do not take it here. They do not stand behind their work. They have rookies working on your car, and they charge just as much, if not more than the dealer. I had to go back to the store three times for an alignment. Now I know that was three times too much. Customer service, quality workmanship and standing by the products and services are paramount for me. In seeing other reviews, I'm not the only one. I would not go there for a AA battery. read more

Took my car to CT on Dec 27, because it was the only mechanic we could find that was open that day. I understand now why my friends said they would never ever take their cars back there! What a rip off! They charged me for 7.5 hours laber to put in a new brakeline and clean up the connections when it was there for only 6 hours. They charge $93.00 for labour. I drove by the store 3 times during that time and nobody was working on the car at these times. We walked in unexpectedly at 3 pm, the mechanic was "taking a break" and we were charged till 3:30 when they put the car into the parking lot. There is no way they worked on the car all that time. We were charged double for one hour because another mechanic had to drain the lines. For 1 hour? Are they kidding me? The guy at the desk told me that there is a book of code they have to follow. They charge for the hours they expect a job might take, even if it takes them less time. My bill was suppose to be $901.00 taxes in. When we complaint it dropped to $832.00, than $779.00. We took the car to two mechanics in our neighbourhood, and both of them said the work could have been done in 2-3 hours, one quoted us $250, the other $300, all taxes in. I will follow up with a letter and complaint to CT. read more
