I love a short road trip. With any Winners location, the merchandise tends to be different. Over the years, I have managed to score a number of cool, unique items. On my last trip, I managed to get anti-aging serum (I have a few brown spots on my feet, likely due to not applying sunscreen on them during the Summer) and quinoa pancake mix. I love the selection of teas and gourmet food items. I nearly got a package of lemon risotto. I also wanted the package of wild rice with mushrooms. I was pleased that I showed some restraint for a change! As always, staff there are friendly. The woman cashing me out was friendly and seemed to enjoy her shift on Saturday. It was refreshing! There is plenty of parking. This store shares its parking lot with Canadian Tire. It is an area full of box stores and a movie theatre. (1)

My AC broke down last year, and a friend told me that Canadian Tire sells cans of refrigerants…read more Since my fan was still blowing, I decided to try it. It lasted about a day. This year, I took it in to get it fixed properly - except NO ONE WILL TOUCH MY CAR NOW. Apparently this stuff is SO NOXIOUS that it requires an entirely different process to flush out this chemical. I took it back to Canadian Tire, and they'll do it, but it's going to cost around a thousand dollars. I personally think they should flush it out for free, but that's not the response I got in the shop. They just shrugged and said "oh well". Please share this widely for anyone who needs to know. These giant companies feed off folks who don't have a lot of money and have to try and do things themselves. Then charge exorbitant prices to fix what their shitty product caused.

I had to get new tires for my car asap, and of all things, the tires that I needed were an odd…read moremeasurement. As a result of these tires being an odd measurement, I didn't have many options. However, Canadian Tire on Lansdowne in Peterborough, ON was able to order the tires I needed, with next day delivery, and in less than 24 hours, the tires were ordered and placed on my car. I dealt with a gentleman by the name of George in Canadian Tire's automotive department and he provided great customer service. He was patient, professional and answered all of my questions (both over the phone [a few times], and in person!). It had a bunch of vendors under one roof. I spotted Another Spin Records. I love music and record stores. I didn't see any staffers for this business. It was a treat to browse records that this place had. There were new and used records. The variety was amazing. I spotted Duran Duran's Seventh and the Ragged Tiger. I don't have it in record form. I do have it on cassette. There were many Howard Jones records. It was like going through his entire repertoire. I like 80's music. Still stuck in that era, it was great seeing Culture Club and Cyndi Lauper records. The used records were decently prices. I saw them going between $16 and $20. The newer records will cost you more, mainly because there aren't many record-pressing companies out there these days. A brand new Jagged Little Pill album by Alanis Morrissette went for $41. James Blunt's Once Upon a Mind was going for $37. This store also had books in a small section of the stall. I saw a Taylor Swift book there. I liked visiting this store. It was fun browsing. (357)

Tip: The canned fish section is excellent…read more On Saturday, I was in Bowmanville, shopping at Winners. After I was done, I noticed this Dollar Tree store across from it. I hadn't been in Bowmanville for a while. I don't recall what this store used to be. I don't remember it being here. I decided to check it out. I drove over to it, as I noticed that there was a parking spot with a tree providing shade. I parked my car under it and walked in. Autumn drinkware and bowls greeted me. Frankly, I can't get into that spirit when it is summer, and I am wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Naturally, I checked out the food and drinks. It had a decent cereal section. I liked seeing mocktails, so I got a sugar-free raspberry mojito. I typically buy lemon juice at a dollar store. This one had lime juice. I had bought a lime the other day for the juice. I decided to invest in the juice version here. Pasta sauce is cheap at $2 a can. I got Primo's garden tomatoes and mushrooms. This store has a decent canned fish section. It's primarily sardines, tuna, and salmon. I was hoping for anchovies, but the demand is likely not there. It was cool seeing Kraft Dinner and Annie's mac and cheese varieties. The latter was new to me. I went to pay for my items. The lineup at the checkout was busy, but it did move fast. I got a woman who was pleasant. I paid for my items with a credit card. It was easy to tap to pay. I thanked her, grabbed my items and receipt, and headed to my car. I liked shopping here. (356)

I spotted many folks entering Markets on my left. I was curious and decided to hang a couple of lefts to check it out. There was parking behind the building. I found a parking spot designated for customers at Markets. It was shaded. Bonus! I got out of my car and walked over to the back entrance. I came on a good day. There was live punk music happening in front of the back entrance. I enjoyed what I heard, but I don't know what the band's name was. Brutal Days Clothing Co. was selling t-shirts and more across from where this band was playing. A t-shirt was going for $25, which seemed reasonable. Markets is exactly what you think it entails. Local vendors set up stalls inside the building. There seemed to be a lot of vendors present in a section of the building. Perhaps they were a part of this punk music event, although the merchandise didn't scream punk to me. I liked seeing handmade press-on nails by Pastel Ghoul. They looked fancy and cool. I'd probably have to trim them down, as I tend to keep my nails short. I was mesmerized by countless pickled veggies by Veggie Shack. I also saw jars of pasta sauce. Talk of the Town has a food stall here. It is known for amazing egg rolls and burgers. Sadly, I was there too early. It opens up on Saturdays at 5 pm. I liked visiting Another Spin Records and More. It had a decent selection of 80's records, from Duran Duran, to Howard Jones. It had more modern records, too, such as James Blunt and Alanis Morissette. You pay at the vendor stall if there's a person. Another Spin Records didn't have any staff present, so you can pay for items from this business in the Markets checkout area. I liked browsing at this market. I'd like to return, especially when I need to get gifts. I'd also like to check out Talk of the Town when it's open. (359)

This Giant Tiger has plenty of parking spots. It is in a plaza. I am envious that Peterborough has a Giant Tiger. Markham lost its lone store eons ago. This store is fantastic! This store is a gem. I have never seen small, paired, regular, and gigantic Squishmallows all under one roof in my life. I was in Squishmallows heaven! Prices were decent. This store also has a large variety of Tim Hortons items. I didn't realize that you can get Timmy's soups these days. It also has Timmy's-branded coffee and hot chocolate. Walking around this store made me want to pick up knitting and crocheting. There were deals on yarn, from bundled to large skeins. I needed hand soap. I got two bottles of foaming hand washes. I'm still curious about how fresh snow smells as a scent. My favourite bagged cereal is at Giant Tiger. I like the honey cinnamon the best, but will eat all varieties. The grocery section is amazing. It has items that I haven't seen at Giant Tiger stores that I often frequent. The CRAVE line of lasagna, and mac and cheese all looked delicious! I like the prices at Giant Tiger. You can save a bit and not sacrifice on quality. I had a nice woman cash me out. She gave me a bag for free. I am so used to putting stuff in my own bag and waving off the bag fee. I love this store.
