Canadian Tire Automotive - Dangerous Negligence with Winter Tire Change…read more I recently had my winter tires swapped at Canadian Tire Automotive, and what happened afterward was not just disappointing--it was genuinely terrifying. After dropping off my car for a routine winter tire change, I picked it up assuming the work had been done properly. I drove with my 9-month-old baby in the back seat, completely unaware that I was putting both our lives at risk with every kilometer. Only 6 kilometers later, while driving on the highway, I felt something seriously wrong with my car. The steering became increasingly unstable, I was hearing loud sounds which forced me to pull over. I slowly drove to the nearest auto shop where mechanics immediately hoisted the car and revealed that NONE of my tires had been properly torqued after installation. The nuts and bolts were merely hand-tightened and left that way. The mechanic told me it was "a miracle" no one was hurt or worse--I could have lost a wheel at highway speeds with my infant in the car. When I reported this to Canadian Tire management, their response was completely inadequate. They offered to reimburse me for the tire change and an oil change I had done. That's it. No acknowledgment of the life-threatening danger they put my family in, no assurance of improved training or quality control. This level of negligence is absolutely unacceptable from any automotive service, let alone a major national chain that markets itself as trustworthy. A basic safety procedure was completely ignored, and it nearly resulted in tragedy. I cannot stress enough how dangerous this experience was. They have demonstrated they cannot be trusted with even the most basic safety protocols.

This is a PSA and warning for everyone PLEASE READ…read more On May 8th I filled up my gas tank (which was low on fuel) at Petro Canada 360 bayfield st in barrie ON and the next day my car broke down twice while driving. The engine completely shut off while driving. The next day we went to our Toyota dealership because we had just bought this car (2017 RAV 4) 2 months prior and on the way there our car shut off 3 times in traffic. They held our car for 3 days and came to the conclusion that petro canada had sold us diluted fuel which you can see in the mechanic notes below. We ended up having to pay toyota $619 for the damages petro canadas diluted fuel caused. Our mechanic gave us a bottle with a sample of this fuel so that Petro would be able to test it and see that it was them who caused it. When we went to the location and requested to talk to a manager, we were told a manager was not in the store and they would call us back. The employee took a copy of all of our documents and we left. 3 days later we still heard nothing from the store so we called again. This time we were told the manager was on vacation and we would be referred to the supervisor in charge while the manager was away. I called the supervisor and was told that I was lying and that it could never happen and would never happen. They refused to look at the documents provided and never bothered to look at the sample. At this point it had been two weeks, so we called Petro canadas customer service helpline. After another week of my boyfriend and I calling and making complaints, our case was transfered to a higher up manager, Liam Doherty. He told me the investigation would start but we probably were not going to get refunded. He would never answer my calls or listen to my concerns, and told me to wait for 2 weeks for the investigation. I provided him with all of the documents (receipts, mechanic notes) and told him we had a sample of the diluted fuel. Today, June 2nd almost a month later he called me to tell me that they did their investigation and ruled nothing was wrong with their gas and that they would not compensate the $619 of damage caused by them. This entire time they never tested the fuel our mechanic gave to us or looked at any of our documents and proof. We are now filing a lawsuit against them and having to pay for legal fees. I need this to gain media attention because this is an absolute outrage and we are being thrown aside like a bunch of little kids.
