This is an interesting Canadian Tire. On one hand, it is huge compared to the one in Richmond. This store has two floors where most of the entire second floor is dedicated to anything related to Christmas from ornaments to trees. The first floor has all of the things. you would find at other Canadian Tire stores. Sometimes there are deals depending on when you go, but the Christmas section didn't have a lot of deals on Black Friday. There's paid parking on the rooftop or metered parking at the street. Service is a hit or miss depending if you can find someone. What's interesting is that there is a security guard that checks your receipt and package as you leave. read more

Canadian Tire is like if Walmart and Home Depot had a Canadian baby--practical, friendly, and surprisingly fun. This location nailed it: service was excellent, and the staff weren't just friendly, they were walking product encyclopedias. I even spotted tons of Canadian-made goods (points for national pride!) and a toy section that could distract kids--and adults--long enough to shop in peace. This is a rather large Urban Canadian Tire, with a lot of modern touches. It's a long walk from Downtown, so I took Uber over to take a look. The merchandise selection is what I've been used to: lots of stuff packed into often tight aisles, and enjoyable "treasure hunt" shopping. I ended up with a few items that I could put into my carry on luggage, and whizzed through the self-check out. I miss the personal check out and the real Canadian Tire Money. The key downside here was that it was clear that most of the employees I interacted with, clearly did not want to be here. Sometimes it seemed that they were doing me a favor by answering a question. Went into the store to buy a tire gauge for checking the tires on my bike. I had looked online and found what I needed. I checked the bike department and could not find what I was looking for. It is pact with so many small items it is impossible to find what one is looking for. Nothing is really defined. I could not find an employee who would assist me. After about 10 minutes of hunting for the tire gauge, I saw an employee a few aisles away. I went over and asked him if he could help me. He walked over to the bike area, took one look around and told me that this was not his department, but he would call someone. A few minutes later another employee arrived, he took one look around and said he was not sure there they would be. Enough time had been spent trying to find what I needed. I really appreciate the mechanic, Rob, at Canadian Tire. He was honest, transparent, and communicated clearly when explaining what was happening with my Jeep. What stood out to me most was his integrity--he openly admitted when he wasn't sure what the issue was, rather than giving me a vague or quick answer that could've cost me a lot of money. That kind of honesty takes real pride in one's work. Rob also took the time to truly understand my concerns and didn't stop until he found the root of the problem. This location also has a great garden centre. The website, however, sucks. It's ridiculously slow regardless of the speed of the connection or how you access it, whether it be via a laptop browser, mobile browser, or the app. Every time I go on it, I leave wanting that part of my life back even when I find what I'm looking for. Upon going to open the package, I recognized that it had been opened and resealed by someone else. I went back for a refund, but I was accused of opening them up and lying. Stated retired from government service, not a liar. The assistant manager was called, and he refused a refund. Staff are rude and accusatory. No class, belittled me. Trying to do my part to support local industry, never going to any Canadian Tire junk store again. Customer service sucks as it did when they first opened on Cambie Street and West 7th. Moving here from Seattle I needed to pass a Canadian car inspection to get insurance through ICBC. Anyways I went to Canadian tire, which being an American I thought Canadian tire was cool. But NEVER ever take your car there for service or an inspection. I went paying 150 for an inspection, and I came out with a $1200 charge they said I needed to pay to pass the inspection. They told me their service charge is $150/hr. They wanted to charge me $1200 to take off tint, downgrade headlights, and change a wheel bearing. Not being an idiot, I left Canadian tire and came to went to a mechanic in surrey who literally charged me half the price. Today, I went to go buy a basketball and I needed to check my bag at the front desk cause of store policy. I waited 5 minutes in line cause a lady needed to put a heavy package on a dolly. But when it was my turn to be serviced, the lady servicing me said, "It's okay. You can take your bag. It's small." The lady servicing me essentially said I didn't need to check my bag when it is supposed to be store policy to, which I understand, but I had to wait 5 minutes for it. That was a complete waste of my time and I really want to know if this Canadian Tire is understaffed and/or wasn't trained properly to service customers. Another time I came to this store, I had to wait 15 minutes for a store clerk to come to the bike section to help me find a seat cushion, which I didn't get. read more

I don't really understand what was going on, but on my last trip to this location, a very angry customer was literally screaming in the middle of the store to a staff member to "stop chasing me ( him ) with an axe! " he repeated this a number of times, then vowed to take it up with management. I am assuming that the staff member was perhaps loss prevention, as he was not in any uniform. I personally failed to see said axe, but I only witnessed the aftermath. From my observation the customer looked like he may of been high of drugs. I can't say for certain, but I have seen the type before - twitchy, sweating and riding a bike. I watched as they went to Customer Service, and I heard the customer repeat the same thing " he was chasing me with an axe!! " Now, I highly doubt anyone - (let alone loss prevention) was running around Canadian Tire with an axe. However, I could be wrong. This is Vancouver! I couldn't stick around to witness the outcome of this drama. My husband was waiting for me and I needed to pick up a few items. When we walked past a couple and was about to turn, their dog barked at us while the female employee was beside them. When I looked at the couple, the female employee moved in front of me and blocked my view. Then they disappeared into the aisle. We were startled by the barking. Also, when we were in the other aisle while another female employee was helping us, a man with a big dog walked between us. He and the dog nearly touched us. They should not allow pets in the store. There are merchandises on the ground and the walkway is narrow. It is a hazard for people in the store and for people with pet allergy. read more

BEWARE! This location is a FRANCHISE store so they have a separate owner, with STRANGE policies. Case in point, they denied a return of a NEW sealed air conditioning unit! Unbelievable as I bought it from the same store and was told then I had 90 days to return for full refund if the item was still in stock or store credit if no longer in stock. Gary the Manager created a terrible customer experience. He was unreasonable and said the store now had a final sale policy on ACs, through the final sale sticker on each AC they sell. But when I bought this online there was no such final sale policy and no final sale sticker on my unit. Totally unbelievable - it wasn't like I was returning many units, just one. Thanks for the unnecessary INJURY to my hand in the process of having to re-load the unit back into my car again after being rejected for the return. UPDATE: Just called the North Van Canadian Tire and they said no problem, come over and we'll refund it. When I got there, no problems with the refund. They said a lot of people who bought from Cambie and 7th end up returning at another store because of the grief they get. I just had the worst retail experience in my life. I was shopping at the store while this person was following me and shadow boxing. I decided to record him where he took my phone tried to fight me and turned out he was working there! If you ever get a chance to film him he would get violent. I called head office and there was no return call and called the general manager and no response. I'm sure this company takes no action to their employees and like to shame them while shopping. They tried to call the police on me to lay criminal charges but there was nothing. This Canadian Tire has decided to dispense with cashiers and replace them with self checkout machines. Today, I selected two items and was then faced with a 20 minute lineup on the upper level of the store, where there was not even one cashier, just self checkout machines. These machines take far longer than cashiers to process purchases, hence the ridiculous lineup. I urge people not to shop at stores such as this who have virtually abandoned customer service in favour of their bottom line. It's not just the lack of cashiers either, virtually no employees could be found in this store to provide purchase advice on merchandise. read more

I rarely go to Canadian Tire as it is out of my way, so I have to make a special trip (by transit!) to get there. However, in need of a vacuum belt and vacuum bags, I decided to make the trek out there, as I know they sell those items. Also, that morning my husband broke his French press, and I figured I could purchase one there, so I had three good reasons to go. With the help of an employee, I found the vacuum and vacuum accessory area (which was shockingly busy), and while I found the vacuum bags, there weren't any belts, which I desperately needed. Disappointed (I *really* needed a new vacuum belt), I decided to check out the "dust busters" (ie. mini hand-held vacuums), as that was also something I had been thinking of purchasing (so I actually had four reasons to go to Canadian Tire), and it would work in lieu of a vacuum for a specific need I had. I found the dust busters, but there weren't any prices -- it always annoys me when prices aren't marked! I flagged down an employee and asked if they had vacuum belts, and she dismissively pointed to the area where I had been. I told her I did not see any belts, and she said, "Oh, we're sold out". I then asked her to check the prices on the dust busters, and she said, as if I were a moron, "These don't need belts." I admit I was a bit snarky, but I replied, "I know these don't need belts; I know the difference between a vacuum and a dust buster, thank you, but in addition to vacuum belts, I also want to enquire about dust busters." The woman was completely idiotic and my entire interaction with her was frustrating, as she clearly did not listen to what I was saying. Anyway, she told me the prices of the dust busters, which were $70+, so needless to say, I did not purchase one. I did purchase a French press, so the trip wasn't a waste of time after all. However, when I got home and removed the plunger and filter from the coffee carafe, a plastic bit on the plunger was broken, and the entire bottom of the carafe was shattered -- something I hadn't noticed in the store because the plunger and filter were hiding the damage, and I hadn't thought to inspect the bottom. At first I worried that it had broken in my bag, but based on the way it was damaged (a piece snapped off from the plunger), there was no way it broke on the way home. Ugh, so now I have to make a trip back just to return the French press (I bought one elsewhere a couple of days later). Also, right after I left Canadian Tire, I went to the nearby London Drugs. Unfortunately they did not carry vacuum belts, but they did sell dust busters -- the same model as in Canadian Tire, for $50 (and I had a $5 off voucher). All in all, Canadian Tire was a big waste of my time, the employee was an idiot, and I was irritated that the check out (if you want an actual cashier) wasn't easy to find (it's actually by "aisle 12", hidden behind the vacuum and vacuum accessory area, not at the front, where one would expect, where there are only self-checkouts). read more

It's a nice, bright store but it's the only Canadian Tire in Greater Vancouver that I know of that charges for parking. All the stores nearby - Like Home Depot - Provide a parking credit if you make a purchase, but not this Canadian Tire. Furthermore, the minimum time block you can buy is an hour. So even if you want to pop in for 15 minutes you're paying for an hour's parking. Secondly, it's nothing but automated checkout machines now, that are endlessly telling you to take items in and out of the bagging area. For that CDN Tire wanted another $160 + tax. What kind of mechanic does pre-purchased inspection without a check engine diagnosis? Also, I've never paid $400 for a pre-purchase inspection before. $240 + $160 = $400 is the real cost of a pre purchase inspection at Cdn Tire Cambie. I have long been a fan of Canadian Tire -- but I hate this particular store (on Cambie in Vancouver). It is crowded. The items I need are often not in stock. Staff are nice, and there sure are a lot of them. But the stock is very restricted. Things I regularly bought at my previous CT store are just never in this one. (Too bad I moved!!) Worse yet: Yesterday I discovered through their in-store computer that there was another, much less expensive, version of what I needed. There were lots of this particular item in stock, according to the computer, but none were on display. When I looked closely, I did find the boxed item, but it was unpriced and the price was not posted anywhere at all on the shelves or in the aisle. Its one of the Canadian Tire that is close to downtown. It is close to the City Hall Skytrain. This Canadian Tire doesn't have free parking so you might want to think twice before coming here. They paid parking are roof top parking and as well there are underground parking and street parking. But again All paid parking. I bought a few things here before. Service is ok. You might have a hard time in finding someone to help you. It seems most of the people are working as cashier. Today, I came here to get a price adjustment. It was easy peasy. Went in showed them flyer and got a price adjustment. Line up was not bad. Oh yeah this is one of the bigger Canadian Tire in BC. i dont like this particular location very much because A. underground parking is expensive at $2.25 an hour. B. If you purchase a large item, you have to get it from their warehouse which is off-site. it closes at 7PM even though the actual store closes at 10PM. nowhere on the canadian tire website says that it would close at 7PM. tip: call ahead to see if the warehouse is open that day for your large item purchases or else you could waste your time and have to come another day. C. rude staff. i asked a staff person if they can assist me. the staff person told me to ask someone else instead because "her shift was over". she was still in uniform walking near the aisles! another tip: if you want faster service from the staff, tell them the product number of the item you want. its in the flyer or the website. the staff will put that number in their little handheld computers and tell you exactly where to find the item and the number in stock. call before you come to verify stock because sometimes the online stock checker is wrong where it said the item is in stock but there is no stock left in actuality. they really should add that clause to their website. i wasted an 45 min. of time looking for stock that they couldn't find even though the website said there was 2 left! read more

Our family loves this store! It's not perfect, for sure, but for us, who recently moved here, it sure has saved our butts on more than one occasion, and has filled in the gaps re: items we need to set up a new home. And its car service department is amazing (if I were ranking the car service area, I'd rate it 5+ stars! More on that later in this review). When our movers didn't show up for a week, we got air mattresses here (they saved our lives!), we got a grill here, we got some kitchen and bathroom essentials, we got closet organizers and shelving here, we got our kid a bike and in-line skates here (on sale! The skates cost $25 from $75. I ended up getting a pair, too. And the bike was $200 on sale, too).... The list goes on and on. This store has been a life-saver for us. I like how they have a key-cutting service here, too, and a nice gardening department. Sometimes it's hard to find an employee to help you in the store. This is the sole reason I'm docking a star in my rating. Otherwise, though, we've had great luck finding what we need in this store, and we find the prices reasonable. And our cashiers have always been friendly, too (bonus!). By the way, we've been to this store countless times and we were JUST informed of something this past week: although you have to pay for parking in the lot, if you make purchases in the store and present your parking receipt at the cash at check-out, they'll reimburse you. Wish we had been told that six weeks ago, but at least now we know! Now onto the car service department : it is fantastic. I imported my car from the States and had to get an inspection at an "authorized" mechanic. RIV Canada says Canadian Tire is authorized, so I brought my car here. The guys here are great. They are connected up with RIV so the process is pretty smooth, administratively. I had to have daytime running lights installed. They did a great job. They submitted all reports to RIV and I got my car approved and insured promptly due to their good work. (I also liked how they take your car on time when appointments are made, there's a good waiting room there with coffee and tv and free wifi, and the guys at the counter are friendly, too).
