Perfect place for holiday gifts, to share a taste of Joplin with visitors, or just to keep around the house or office for a satisfying treat. Admittedly, my wife comes in here a few times a year to buy gifts but it was my first time going inside with her. She might wish I had not as I started filling her basket with goodies for the holidays. I'm diabetic so I also keep an eye out for no-sugar-added or sugar-free options. I was not disappointed, they have a mixed box of no added sugar chocolates that is missing nothing in taste and if people did not know it had less sugar they would never guess. Don't mind the location and the sketchy area of town, I would guess it helps them keep costs low and allows them to provide such great quality at reasonable prices. This shop is definitely worth a visit. And don't forget to watch them make chocolates and other treats thru the big windows across the entire side of the shop. read more

This place has been a delightful stop for decades! My husband grew up riding his bike to their first location in Spring City! Through the years, the quality has remained! Yummmmm. What else can you say about a place like this. The service has always been good. They usually have samples of certain items. The tiger fudge is very good as well as their dark chocolate selections. When it comes to chocolate for my wife this is a top pick above Russell Stover, then Dove. It is pricey though good quality and locally made. The offer tours at certain times of the day. Also, you can watch them making whatever the current candy is based on the season. Last time we visited they were beginning chocolate bunnies and chocolate covered strawberries. This business has expanded greatly as this is the second location with the original being south of Joplin around Reddings Mill. They Also have at least nod location in Springfield, MO. The provide products to be sold in SAMs club as we'll. this location is great. It you want to see more history go to the South location in Reddings Mill. Both are great. read more

I had free time on a Saturday during a convention, so we (my mom and I) decided to wander around and visit several stores. This was on my list. Close your eyes and imagine the heady feeling you get when you walk into a chocolate store. Fresh dipped strawberries, truffles, candies of all kinds, salt water taffy, chocolate covered cherries and other specialty items are available here. They'll ship anywhere too! They have viewing windows available, so you can watch the sweet treats being made, but the day we visited, there wasn't any action taking place. That didn't stop me though... I purchased over $50 in candy of all types. It's located on the corner of 5th and Kentucky, and it's easy to miss, so I drove around the block a few times before I found it, but it was worth the searching! read more

Came here with a friend on a Monday afternoon on my way to the airport. Parking was very easy. The woman that worked here was very friendly. The free samples were a nice touch. I really enjoyed the dark chocolate peanut butter candy. My friend enjoyed the dark chocolate sea salt caramel candies. Prices were reasonable. About $1 per piece of chocolate. read more

Went in today for the first time since they closed their Redings Mill location. I was greeted by a nice lady who asked if I needed anything. When I told her I was just looking around, she told me she was there if I needed anything and then she let me browse without pestering me, which I appreciate. When I asked her about the box sizes, she was very informative. I got some toffee which was a little pricey but I expect that from a small business. I would rather pay a little more for locally made products and good service than get a deal at a big box store and mediocre service. Definitely recommend. read more

The Candy House is a Christmas tradition for my wife and I. Albeit a short tradition - we've know each other just three Christmases. But The Candy House is an important part of her Christmas as it's a stop for last minute gifts for important people in her and her daughter's life. The shop is small - very small. I suspect they do a lot of business through other sources since their prep area is many times larger than their shop. The Candy House is one of those dear places you tend to take for granted until it's gone so don't take them for granted - be sure you stop by. I sure am glad that my husband is a dentist. I sure am glad that he wasn't with me on this trip to visit family when we all went on a rampage through this faaaaabulous candy factory! It was 5:15 on a Saturday. They close at 5:30. I have been on the other side of that counter before and understand the dread when people roll in so close to closing ... so we made it worth their time. They are well equipped to satisfy whatever whim your sweet tooth demands. There were seven of us so we spread out, and created a big pile of sugary goodness by the cash register. We bought chocolate covered cherries, chocolate this, chocolate that, Pop Rocks, Lemonheads, enormous green-apple Blow Pops, Ring Pops, etc ... The ladies there were very helpful and offered samples. The options were enormous (OMG, we didn't even get any Jelly Beans), and although it was a bit on the expensive side I felt like it was well worth it. Stop by if you have a Sweet Tooth. This place is amazing! I've lived in NWA for years and had no idea it was here. The employees are incredibly friendly, the tour was fun, and the sweets! Oh, the sweets! So much good stuff. This picturesque candy shop looks as though in comes straight out of the German country side...much like "Hanzel and Gretel" cottage of fairy tale fame...minus the oven and evil witch! No! The house is stocked to the hilt with hand crafted sweets. English toffee, chocolate turtles, salt water taffy, fudge and so many more that I just might go into a diabetic coma just thinking about all the choices! Except...that wouldn't happen...cuz they have an enormous variety of sugar free confections too! What ever sweet, creamy, dreamy treat your little heart may desire is lovingly created and displayed in this quaint candy store. When you're done packing your pockets with goodies, head upstairs to peruse their antiques or perhaps your not a candy fan...however freakishly impossible that may be, try the attached ice cream shop. Love their chocolates, however, I was there the day before Valentines Day & it was packed. Unfortunately they had a woman who was VERY SLOW (used one finger to push buttons on the registrar) & then she was literally showing each & every customer how to bag their gifts with flare using their tissue paper. Very sweet, but that was NOT the time & places for demonstrations like that.--People want in & out quickly when there are crowds like that. read more
