I had a very disappointing experience at this Canna Cabana location. I visited the store to purchase the same pre-rolls I had just purchased from another Canna Cabana location earlier that day using the same government-issued ID.
The budtender who assisted me -- a brown, slim male employee with curly hair and glasses -- refused to accept my ID, despite it being a valid government-issued identification that clearly displays my age and identity. When I explained that the ID had just been accepted at another Canna Cabana location and attempted to clarify that it was an official government document, the employee doubled down rather than verifying the information. I was then told this was a new policy from headquarters and was asked to leave the store.
This explanation did not make sense given that another Canna Cabana location had accepted the exact same ID without issue. Mistakes happen, and I would have understood if there was genuine confusion about the identification. What was frustrating was the unwillingness to verify the information and the apparent attempt to justify the decision with a policy that did not appear to exist.
For a company that positions itself as one of Canada's leading cannabis retailers, I expected better customer service, professionalism, and staff training without the smirky remarks. Customers should be treated respectfully, especially when presenting valid government-issued identification. It's okay to make a mistake; it's not okay to create a justification for that mistake rather than simply acknowledging it and handling the situation professionally.
I hope management reviews this incident and provides additional training to ensure similar situations are handled more appropriately in the future. read more
