I usually try not to visit the same place multiple times while I'm traveling, but I definitely hit up Cannoli & Co with some friends multiple times during the few days we were visiting Palermo! There were too many things that we wanted to try and not enough time.
Cannoli: There are a few shell options (regular, chocolate, and gluten-free) and fillings (traditional ricotta, pistacchio, hazelnut, chocolate, almond, and orange) to choose from, as well as some toppings like chocolate and pistacchio. My favourite combo was regular shell + hazelnut filling + pistacchio topping, but really you can't go wrong with any combo. I think a key detail here is that they fill it on the spot, so you know you're not getting something that has been sitting around for hours.
Cassata: Was looking forward to trying this, another traditional SIcilian treat, and so my husband and I tried both the regular and the pistacchio flavours of the cassata. They were both good, but even as a dessert was a little bit too sweet for my taste preference.
Granite: Of course, a trip to Sicily isn't complete without some granite as well, and they had many flavours to choose from - lemon, pistacchio, blood orange (so good and perhaps more unique), almond, mandarin, and Indian fig, although the flavours change seasonally I think. The brioche it came with was fine but perhaps not the best brioche I had in Sicily.
Overall we always had an excellent experience here and look forward to coming back next time we're in Palermo. read more
