They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. If you are looking for great repartee or to enjoy a quiet evening alone, either way, they will happily oblige. Then there is the food! Everything is made from scratch...including the yogurt! Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. She took the time to provide us with a tour of one of the most complete and original victorian homes built during the age of the lumber barron. What alterations where made to make it a B&B with a private bath for each room was done thoughtfully so no awckward showers in what used to be coat closets or anything. the rooms are eleganly decorated and furnished with out to much stuff that often gets cramed into every corner of most B&Bs. Great refreshments in the evening even better breakfast in the morning and plenty of local information and recomendations. As a traveler who tries to support small business I often feel like I am making a contrubution because not all of the places I have stayed really provide a complete and easy stay. We booked the lunch tour, which included a three course meal and visiting three of the houses: Baltur, Duncan, and Mantyla. The lunch is inside - not the treehouse dining - which was fine as it was pouring on the day we went! Service was very friendly and the food was beautiful, seasonal, and delicious - I'm going to be dreaming about that fig amuse bouche for a long time! Visitors only get to choose the main course, app and dessert are chef's choice though they do ask for food restrictions when you order. As for the tour, you ride a shuttle to each house. All three houses are different and beautiful in their own way. Baltur was not designed by FLW himself but an apprentice, and it's fascinating to see how he diverged from his teacher. Our tour guide added so much color and backstory to each stop and truly did a fantastic job. While we didn't stay overnight, that is an option and definitely something we're considering for the future!

Then we were lead to a short shuttle bus that took us to each hour and then back to where we started. We had a great time learning about each house along with the history behind it. Rooms come as either singles or 1 bedrooms. I chose a basement suite and it turned out to be much more than I could have expected. A large comfy bed, flat screen HDTV with Premium sports and movie channels, a kitchen with all the amenities from Oven to Spatula, a full bathroom, and a small dining /work table. The suites are housed in a turn of the century victorian house converted into apartments and conveniently located off bus lines to Downtown. The best thing is supermarkets and bars are nearby, all which Robert gives you maps and descriptions of. Got Laundry? no problem, the suites have their own laundry room and each room has an ironing board, laundry basket, and iron. It's home away from home.

You can smell the history! From the immense front porch with rockers and a swing to the claw tub to the mini farm with sheep and chickens one was surrounded with silence and thought - if these walls could talk!- Every nook and cranny filled with early 20th century furnishings and books!
