My husband and I were extremely impressed with this restaurant. We have eaten at numerous Mexican restaurants from one end of the cost to the next. It was very packed and we were seated immediately, drinks and dip were served within minutes, and our entrees were ready in less than ten minutes. Before we decided on Cantina Del Sol for the evening, I couldn't find any info about drinks at this newer (right before lockdown?) restaurant in Tupelo. I'm posting a photo of their drinks menu. (We had to ask for it). The tequila flights look interesting, but not for us. Full bar. Limited wine choices I had a nice glass of Malbec with my Pato de Mole, duck with chocolate sauce. SO GOOD!!! Hubbie had pork tacos. Our waitress was adorable, knowledgeable and checked in on us exactly enough. We had the dessert - kind of like a tropical creme brûlée. It was huge and really yummy. Cantina Del Sol was recommended by the hotel staff at the Best Western Plus next door. We were craving Mexican, but we didn't expect the BEST Mexican food we've ever had ! The steak fajitas were wonderful, my wife had the rice bowl. Both awesome! Our server, Javier, was friendly, and willing to interact with us. The atmosphere looked up-scale, not just a redone Hardee's. I would be a regular here if we lived closer! I can't say enough good about Cantina Del Sol! read more

The best thing about this restaurant is the appearance. Areas are very attractive and stylish. The service was adequate although our server seemed rushed and somewhat preoccupied which is odd because it wasn't at all busy. ( a Monday night) . The food was the real problem. My wife had a chicken quesadilla which was smothered in a very bland cheese sauce. She indicated that the chicken inside did not have any discernible flavor at all and was accompanied by a drab, tasteless, very pale yellow rice. I made the huge mistake of ordering the steak fajitas. The helping of steak was generous. Too bad it wasn't eatable! The meat cut in wide strips was so tough & sinewy that I could not chew it. The couple pieces I attempted to eat had zero flavor at all. Really the worst piece of meat I have ever been served. It was accompanied by a few slices of grilled peppers and a little fried onion as well as the aforementioned bland tasteless rice. Bland seems to be the culinary theme of this establishment as the so called Mexican Street corn was totally without flavor other than that of frozen corn . A bit of cheese was sprinkled on top with ( finally!) a tiny bit of chili powder & a couple teeny bits of jalapeño. There wasn't even a hint of lime & it appeared they used some kind of milk ( which was so thin it collected in the bottom of the bowl) instead of Mexican style mayo. The prices are a little on the high side but I was fine with that based on the attractiveness of the restaurant; until the food arrived. How this place ever got 4 stars from anyone is a real mystery! I can only assume that the food has been blended down to suit your average white Mississippian but cutting back on heat does not require abandoning flavor all together. We've been to dozen & dozens of Mexican restaurants all over the country and have never experienced anything even close to this total lack of flavor. If you are on a bland diet for medical reasons this is your place. If not, go someplace else. read more

We've found a new go-to whenever we're in Tupelo. Standard prices for the same cost as local fare; the food was well-seasoned without excess grease and salt. The brisket on the buffet could easily be made into a savory meal by itself! But plenty of sides to make a gourmet Mexican dinner. Summer waited on us, and attended us well. Husband had buffet, which is a dollar more than regular meal. I had mushroom quesadilla with beans and rice. Rich! I also appreciate that if there was any cilantro, especially in the salsas (three types with chips) it was discreet (I hate cilantro, and always come to a restaurant prepared to be wary of its presence!). A very nice dining experience. We asked, and are delighted to find out, that they can accommodate groups. read more
