About 225 German Separatists (Radical Pietists) from Württemberg, Bavaria, and Baden, led by Joseph Bimeler came to Ohio to escape religious persecution and form a simpler way of living in Zoar. The buildings look very much like they did when the Separatists arrived in 1819 and most of them have been very well preserved. The Zoar Hotel needs some work and parts of it are unsafe to visit, although the first floor hosted a Christmas tree sale and the basement housed Krampus (which might have been my absolute favorite part of this particular event). I also love how friendly all of the docents are. I've been here many times and the photos attached are from Christmas in Zoar which takes place several weekends in December and is $15 for adults and free for children. There is a bit of a disconnect with the advertising; event page says "guided tour", but you arrive and it's self guided. That is not a problem because I prefer to go at my own pace, however it may be off-putting for some. I also came to Zoar for the Ghost Dinner at Halloween at Zoar Tavern. It was a fun event and the food was really good, but again the communication was a little confusing, because no address was provided and we weren't sure exactly where to go. The Zoar Tavern is listed as "permanently closed" on yelp and on Apple Maps, so it makes you question if you are headed to the right place or not. I would love to do the ghost tour at some point. It is led by a lantern-toting guide through each of the historic buildings and Zoar takes on a different vibe at nighttime. I did bring my son here for the daytime Trick or Treat event and we had a lot of fun and got a generous amount of candy. Also, during the Christmas event the community hall (near the church) sold hot food items and gluwein. Very tasty. The Zoar Bakery was opened as well and I got a pretzel and a cookie. I've never been impressed by the baked goods there, so next time I'll skep that stop. I also bought a commemorative Zoar Christmas mug at the community hall, in which my gluwein was served. Very cool keepsake and I love that hot mulled wine. If you are in eastern Ohio, this place is worth a visit. It is twenty minutes down the street from me, so I have no doubt I'll be back again.

The artist featured was Nancy? The paintings were colorful and bright. Our 1 yr old grandson especially liked an aquatic theme painting. Many of the paintings have a price tag and are for sale. The Children's play area was a little cramped but offered many choices. Felt a little enclosed by massive stacks but still a nice area. book selection for toddlers was very good.

Not far from the Goodyear world headquarters, this marker points out the history of the man who…read morefounded the company and is laid to rest not far away in Glendale Cemetery. The marker has the same text on both sides. It reads, "Industrialist and entrepreneur Franklin Augustus Seiberling (1859-1955) named his fledgling rubber goods manufacturing company "Goodyear" to honor Charles Goodyear, the man who invented the vulcanization process for curing rubber. Seiberling founded the company with his brother, Charles Willard, because of their desire to participate in an enterprise that afforded an "opportunity for invention." Incorporated in 1898, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company rapidly grew with the young automotive industry and helped establish Akron as the "Rubber Capital of the World." Among Seiberling's many significant inventions were the tire-making machine and the detachable wheel rim. He resigned from Goodyear in 1921 and went on to found the Seiberling Rubber Company. Stan Hywet Hall, F.A. Seiberling's estate in west Akron, is a National Historic Landmark." This is marker number 23-77. It was erected in 2003 by The Ohio Bicentennial Commission, Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and The Ohio Historical Society. It's disgusting to look at poop! Mary Ellen spends money on 3 security guards at one time in her Library, but won't take care of the beautiful library overlooking Sippo. She won't give anyone a guest pass. It's OUR library Mary Ellen! I have had my computer go down and I have my library card info in the computer that went down so I can't move to another one. I see residents come in and have the internet, they just need a print out, or a fax or they don't live here and don't need a card, just a copy of something. What is the problem with letting Stark County residents NOT use their computers they paid for Also, i have asked and asked and asked for coupons. The Sunday paper has coupons to use at the store.( It's great that Mary Ellen and the Stark Board of Trustees Steven Pittman don't need coupons.) But alot of us do. I have left numerous messages for Steven Pittman to call me regarding above info, but he never calls! Mary Ellen never has any coupons at the Market st. library or at the Sippo library. Who pays for the Sunday paper? Can I get the coupons? The last time i went into Sippo, the employee was eating and talking with her mouth full. Can we eat in there now? I had just eaten a pizza in the car before I came in. Or is that just for the Sippo employees?
