The first 10 pound box usually gets eaten before we have a chance to plan any baking or freezing, and then the second ten pounder vanishes shortly thereafter. They don't do U Pick but their pricing is very reasonable. They also have Russian garlic and other fruits on sale... minimal choices but am there for the blueberries. Will definitely be one of my go to place for blueberries.

The only 2 port-o-potties are located by the front entrance - which is a pickup truck ride away if you're in the field, so keep that in mind - very dirty and no toilet paper or hand sanitizer :-(. The staff is not the nicest. At least the blueberries were yummy reasonably priced. Note: they have buckets you can use so you don't have to bring your own. They charge $1.50 each if you want a 10 lb cardboard box.

In the other flat, we found almost two boxes' worth of rotten strawberries, not including the many small strawberries mixed in. The rotten ones were hidden underneath the good-looking strawberries, so we couldn't see the issue when we bought them. The photo doesn't show all of the rotten strawberries because we had already thrown some away on the drive home while sorting through them. The amount we threw away could almost fill another box. We were pretty disappointed with the quality, especially considering how much we paid.

We paid $30 for a large container that we couldn't even fill up because there were barely any strawberries left and the ones remaining were mostly rotten. Of course this wasn't mentioned to us or else we wouldn't have paid $30 or wasted our time with two young kids. We tossed out half of the strawberries the next day. Wouldn't we get better quality strawberries for cheaper at a supermarket? What's the point of going to a farm? The staff at Emma Lea Farms were rude and uncaring. Upon leaving the farm I put the strawberries on a table for a quick photo with the tractor and one of the staff came with her spray to clean the table that I had the strawberries on and sprayed all over our strawberries. Our 1-year old was hungry so we wanted to feed her in the car before driving away but were told by staff that we had to leave the parking lot. We understood and decided to move the car to the street outside of the farm. The staff closing the parking lot told us that we weren't allowed to park on the PUBLIC street because that's their property. A quick Google search tells you that the street is no one's property and it's public. I emailed them to let them know but they never responded. Unless you want rotten strawberries or poor attitude I would stay away from this farm. This farm has by far been the worst farm I've ever been to. How could you go wrong with local strawberries??

The large gouging supermarkets are nowhere this mark when it comes to a high price. I can't believe that customers would pay this price. If they do they have no reason to complain about high prices. Blueberries are not even in season yet except if you live in South America.

Obviously the prices are a little bit less than the grocery stores, although that gap seems to be closing. Today I got Roma tomatoes for $.99 a pound which I haven't seen in a long time. The produce always looks good compared to other small groceries. I don't really expect a lot from staff in such places other than keeping it clean and doing a accurate bill at the end, so there's not much for me to say in that regard. I do hope these places keep going during this time of inflation because it is getting very difficult to stock up on anything fresh these days.

I was impressed by their large variety of vegetables including Asian veggies, & some I hadn't even seen before. Their prices are reasonable and look decent. I bought a watermelon which I would avoid. It was mushy on the inside. It's not only at this place but I found it to be the same everywhere. It's because it's overripe. They are located right across from the Richmond Nature Park with free parking out front. They even have shopping carts to lighten the load. A bonus! The place was clean and service was okay. A great place to grab that missing ingredient to create a meal or buy flowers for a special occasion. It's rare to find a market that sells a lot of local produce & fruit. All I can say is support local farmers and businesses!

finally checked this off the list, i've been meaning to make it out to the west end farmer's market…read morefor awhile now, and i'm so glad i did. note: it runs until october 25th, so there's still only a few more saturdays to soak it all in. the market runs saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm, from may 3rd to october 25th, at 1100 comox street. it's a lovely neighbourhood spot, lined with trees decorated with cute little bird houses, tall sunflowers nodding in the breeze, and a nearby community garden that adds so much character. there's a nice mix of vendors, pottery, hazelnuts grown in the fraser valley, certified organic farms, honey, eggs, and fresh flowers. picked up a couple of stocking stuffers from the bowen island herb salts stand. there was even live music, giving everything a relaxed, friendly, local community feel. shop local, bring your eco friendly reusable shopping bags, and take your time wandering through. it's one of those markets that feels both cozy and full of little surprises. fair warning though, between the flowers, the snacks, and all the cute handmade goodies, it's way too easy to slip into "treat yourself" mode and walk away with a bag full of finds you didn't know you needed.

Gala apples are currently .69 per pound. The produce is fresh and the staff is lovely. They have a few fridges in the back with eggs and milk. It's best to go during the day before 3 as you cannot park on 8th Avenue during peak times. There is 15 minute parking around the corner though.
