Contractors beware! Canyon Fireplace is the most unorganized and unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. The lead time to get product is double what they tell you. When they get the product it takes them weeks to install the product. At the end of the project it took six weeks to get the chimney cap flashing made and installed. The customer service end is absolutely atrocious. They do not care about a schedule or anything else. This happened to me on two different projects. Used Not Once But Four Times! We originally used Rob & Schelle Lewis back in 2004 to fix a broken flue. In the process Rob recommended converting to a gas fireplace, which we did. We then moved in 2006 and at the new house Rob framed and installed a brand new gas fireplace, with a beautiful custom mantel, in our living room. In 2009 our daughter in Northern California bought a house with a cracked chimney. Rob & Schelle's Nor Cal crew repaired the chimney and converted that wood-burning fireplace to gas. Finally, this year, 14 years after our first experience with Canyon Fireplace, Rob replaced a rusted out pan/burner in our outdoor fireplace. Bear in mind the only one of these jobs that was a full install was the second one. Rob, Schelle and the crew have been there for us even when the project was as small as replacing rusted out components. Canyon Fireplace is extremely professional and efficient. read more

I inherited a Golden Blount fireplace burner that they installed years ago in my home. It was no longer lighting up. Pilot would go on, but no flame. I asked Schelle if they could repair it in store if I took it in, answer was no. She then asked for my info to create a service call. No service call was created. I don't mind the ignorance, but this business is definitely missing some willingness to satisfy customers. I had to get the product fixed elsewhere. Bought a Heat & Glow unit for $3,700 installed. After dealing with Schelle trying to arrange scheduling it final was installed. 20 months later, we had a couple of power failures and when power was restored, the fireplace ignited on it's own! this happened twice, once when we weren't in the house. When I called Schelle, she could give a rat's ass about my problem telling me it was normal and it was just the remote reactivating. Every time I tried to explain this can't be normal, she became argumentative, interrupted me and told me nothing was wrong. I know when I'm speaking to an AHOLE and didn't want to put up with anymore of her crap so I told her I'll call the manufacturer. They're working on resolving this now. read more

Canyon fireplace installed a new HeatGlo gas fireplace insert into my existing fireplace. The work was performed on a day where I couldn't stay home for the required time it would take for the fireplace to be installed. They showed up, covered my floor so as not to make a mess and got immediately started on installation. I had to go back to work for a few hours, and I had to leave my little dog with them unattended while I did. They assured me that they would make sure that my dog was safe while they finished. Two hours later and I had the fireplace I've always wanted. They took great care to clean up after themselves, even when I told them I could do it after they left. They also took the time to step me through the process of using the remote and the different functions of the fireplace. All in all my experience with Canyon Fireplace and their staff was excellent.
