My fam and I stopped in here for a quick lunch before a road trip and we were all delighted by how much we enjoyed it! The prices were fair. I got a brisket sandwich and the brisket was very tender. Hubs and I went to get lunch with our pup. They have a dog friendly patio. Just about 5 picnic benches amongst their smokers. They do have seating inside. And some parking lots directly outside. Food was absolutely heavenly. Hubby ordered a 3 meat platter with 2 sides We had burnt ends, ribs and brisket with mac and cheese and coleslaw. Everything was delicious. The mrs and I brought our little dog for lunch as we saw they have a dog friendly patio. We ordered at the counter, I couldn't decide what to get. We shared a 3 meat plate with coleslaw and Mac and cheese as the side then added the pudding. I choose a couple sauces, filled the drink and joined her and the little pup outside. Founder Joe Hager developed his barbecue craft through his experiences in Texas, and he's bringing some of the best Texas-style barbecue in Lincoln to the table. I placed a to-go order over the phone and was impressed by how helpful the staff was in walking me through the menu -- from portion sizes to side recommendations and other options. When I arrived, the order was quickly prepared, boxed fresh, and ready to go. There are several must-try items here: * **Beef Brisket** -- Tender, juicy, and beautifully smoked with a perfect bark. * **Pork Ribs** -- Exactly how ribs should be done. This was good smoked Texas Bbq, outside of Texas. Came into Lincoln from Omaha, just to try some barbecue that might remind me of home. You order up at the glass and they chop up the brisket and sausage links right in front of you. It's not a large dining area, but they also have patio seating for when it's nice out. Price was about $55 for 1/2 lb of brisket, burnt ends, and a sausage link, with a personal side of beans and corn casserole. I would recommend their mustard based sauce with the brisket (three sauce options available). It cuts the fat nicely and pairs great with the peppery bark. The corn casserole was fabulous! Sweet and had a lot of corn in it, which I prefer. They put Fritos at the bottom of the beans, which was a nice texture addition for the flavorful beans but got soggy as it sat. The pork belly burnt ends were sweet and not normally the cut of meat I would expect as a burnt end, sadly also being a bit tough to chew. This place is definitely a great barbecue spot located in Downtown Lincoln walking distance from the College campus, the staff here is very nice and helpful to the customers, I ended up getting the 2 meat plate for $22 and I ended up picking the Brisket and Turkey combo with a side of potato salad. The brisket and turkey was well cooked, prepared and seasoned. I definitely enjoyed my meal and the reviews did not disappointed at all. From the genuine greeting when we walked in the door to the expertly smoked meats, Canyon Joe's is doing it right! Try it all! The brisket is thick sliced with the perfect pull on the fat cap, the ribs literally fall off the bone with a deep smokey flavor, the in house made sausage is nice and dense and full of flavor, the turkey is moist and juicy with a peppery bite but those pork belly burnt ends will steal the show every time! We walked two blocks for parking during a busy lunch hour. You very much see the classic barbecue joint mixed in with a modern twist. We asked for the best thing on the menu, and were met with "brisket" quickly and bodly. We did three brisket sandwiches, layered on the hot barbecue and split a pint of macncheese. It rang up around $50 to feed the three of us. The food was delicious. Brisket was tender and juicy, and the Mac n Cheese was the "most mac ever." The meals came out quick and we left full. This is our first time here and I had the brisket platter with potato salad and cornbread casserole. Kim had brisket and turkey platter with macaroni and cheese and cornbread casserole. The brisket and the turkey were absolutely perfect! I loved the cornbread casserole, but the potato salad had just a little too much onion for me, no problem. Kim loved it so I ended up with her macaroni. It's a pretty cool little corner in downtown Lincoln that has a great staff. This place is the real deal, and as good as the food was, the people were even better! But first, the FOOD. Brisket was outstanding! Perfectly seasoned, hot(which is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to brisket) and just so damn delicious. I'd put it in my top 3 briskets ever. Ribs were smoky, tender, fall off the bone good. Sauces were a great compliment, but the meat was stand-alone good. My wife had the smoked turkey, and it was moist, tender, and outstanding. Sides are some of the best I've had. We did the corn casserole, slaw, which is vinegar only(love that) mac n cheese... ridiculous. All great. Tough to pick a favorite. No lie, we came back the next day for round 2. Not surprising, but they had sold out of brisket and burnt ends, so I never got to sample those. As for the staff, some of the friendliest, most welcoming and gracious guys you'll ever meet. We're all desperately hooked. Without discipline and restrain, this place might ruin your household's economy. Beware. We have tried the brisket, the turkey, the beans and the mac and cheese. All of them were delicious and the sides were particularly special. The hatch mac may be the best mac and cheese any of us have collectively had. The beans were more of a southwestern pinto than a standard sweet baked bean; though unexpected, they were extremely palatable. I have but one criticism: I personally feel that Texas barbecue and Pepsi don't mix. I would have had a Coke. I definitely would have had a Mexican Coke. read more

They make some of the best brisket you will ever taste in your life, but they have production capacity problems, so don't go during lunch!
