While trying unsuccessfully to obtain a debt consolidation loan, I was presented with the option of settling my debt of more than $100,000. I really didn't want to take this course of action, but felt I didn't have many options. I was told by representative that Canyon Legal Group would help me settle my debt for less than 50% of what I owed. I was quoted an amount and told that they guaranteed that could settle my debt for this amount, and if not they would cover the remainder. This was absolutely false and I should've known better than to believe it. I paid more than $3,100 a month for 2 years into a Global Client Solutions account. I was told that I had to use this account even though I was being charged a monthly service fee of ~$150. It took many months before Canyon Legal Group even started to settle any debts, only after making sure they had collected their fees from my account. Ultimately, they did not settle all of my debts and those that they did settle, were often for more than they claimed they would be. Even after paying ~$74,000, I was still left with multiple account unsettled. I called Canyon Legal Group many times seeking assistance, but they did not provide any help. When my wife received a court summons, they did not provide any legal representation as they had promised to. I had to settle the reminder of the accounts myself costing another ~$20,000. read more

WARNING!!! Do not use this group. They will take your money, not live up to there end of there own contract, and then refuse to refund your money that is due back to you. I had them hell me settle some accounts, but they did not deal with a couple accounts, but they charged the service fee for those accounts, and are not giving my money back when they failed to manage those accounts. Like many say, why do they need to pay their fees up front instead of spreading it out?! Well I figure it's so you get frustrated, leave the program and they still make out! Communication is HORRIBLE with them, it's just so damn slow! Go with someone else. There's better out there. I've been with them a little over 2 years and not even half my debt is paid but they say I should be free and clear after 4 years, yeah I don't see that happening! I also find it odd that they don't wait for you to agree to a settlement, they just go ahead with it. Awful company. Made my credit go from ok to terrible. No communication. Agree to settlements without your consent. Just take your $$ and dont settle until your acct charged off and credit score is at 500!! You will regret this company. they wait until you are so far into collections that all your accounts go into litigation so that you are forced to pay more. They dont care and just keep taking your money every month. I took several debts out of the program and settle them for 50 percent myself. Meanwhile 3 of my accounts are in litigation still. Whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY. They are quick to make it seem like they are there to help you with settling your debt. On several occasions they have screwed me over so many times, that I ended up removing all my accounts from the program. The attorneys they hire don't care and will do the bare minimum. I agreed on a settlement and the attorney never submitted my agreement document to the court, so I ended up having my wages garnished after being in the program for 4 years. Trying to have the refund my service fees was a nightmare, and I never was refunded a single cent. They claim they will refund things, but always deny any request after "management review". If you want my honest advice, you can do what they do on your own and avoid this scam and headache. Gerard in their escalations department told me he would return my call for over 1.5 months, and I never once received a call. I called every day for one month, and he is always busy or says he'll call back. Their litigators are useless as well, good luck ever trying to speak to one of them regarding your case settlements. Terminated my account because I didn't send 400 after an email I didn't see expired. Oh ya I had already sent them more than 50,000 in 2 huge drafts so was working all the time to pay. Had a settlement on one of my accts and they didn't send the check. So they terminated my acct and kept my money for several months without even telling me they terminated ...all the whole I thought the acct was paid. Horrible...they rob you and when I say rob you, they literally charge you unlimited amount in fees even though they promise you there won't be any further fees. Even after you graduate from their program and any leftover amount is supposed to go back to your bank account, they will charge you a huge portion of the leftover amount in fees and only refund you 20%. They tell you to add more funds when you can so I added $13,000 but I still have to make all of my payments anyway. My enrolled debt was $66,628, my accepted offers totaled $38,067, my final payments will total $58,544. So they are pocketing over $20,000 and I only saved $8,000 when all is said and done. The last attorney that was trying to get ahold of me for my annual review had a spam number so I emailed them and never heard anything back. Sorry I don't answer SPAM numbers. Customer service basically told me if I didn't like what they was doing then I could pay the creditors myself. No help what so ever and now they don't want to talk to me. Don't use this company!!!!! So I told them to give me a payoff so I could put it in my reserves and be done with this company. As soon as they took the payoff money out of my account they took $914.71 in fees and my accounts are not paid off yet. Of course they would take more fees!!! read more

I do not recommend this company AT ALL! this is how they work, the first year (not sure how longer they do this with other cases) they make you pay the x amount of your debt fees twice a month. But all that money your putting in, is going to thier department that does the negotiarions who for a fact DOES NOT WORK hard enough to push to help with your debt. NOT ONE IS BEING SETTLED (mind u, its gng to be a year) WHY??!! Because they want to pay thier negotiation department staffs who is working so called so hard to negotiate or whatever they call that they doing first. I thought the goal here was to get people out of debt.Not take money from them and make those people go into a deeper s*** hole where court orders are being sent now because they want to get paid first! Don't go here. Use the money that you would pay them to work with the creditors and pay your debts. I never thought I would be in a position to need services like this but it happened. They take forever to work with the creditors and they hope for 50%. And if the CC company takes the debt back canyon will sweep it under the rug and not notify you about it and graduate you from the program with debts still open. This happened to me. So now I have to pay more than what was settled for originally. Instead of using canyon I did it myself and was able to get the creditor to go down 55%. Which is better than they can do. Basically they are there taking advantage of those in a bad situation. They really deserve 0 stars for they way they function. DONT DONT I would never recommend them. They made it sound so wonderful. Yea should have went with my gut. Got collection calls at my job. Been sent court notifications and they did settle some debt. But never had any monies in our account because they made sure to collect all their fees up front. When we took monies out of our 401K to clear up our accounts I was assured that all accounts would be taken care off. Well fast forward 11/2 years and what shows up on my credit history is a debt that I was told would be satisfied. After 5 weeks of calling every single week to get someone to renegotiate this Account. Told every single week another bull shit story. Saying how sorry they were that I am experiencing this situation an they understand my frustrations. Really No one was going to do a damn thing about it. I was left stuck between two attorney's offices. One who wants to take me to court and Canyon who didn't do a damn thing but bullshit me everytime I called. As the other reviewers have already said, USE ANYONE EXCEPT FOR THIS COMPANY! Unless you want to become a victim of unnecessary stress, multiple legal suits, trashed credit scores and useless customer service. I've been with the program for 1.5 years, at this point, it isn't that I don't want to leave it's that I have already given them too much of my money and I feel like I have no other options. Like what the others said, what they don't tell you VERY clearly upfront is that the first TWO years of what you are paying are mostly going to their pockets (fees), instead of paying down your debts. They say they are "saving" the funds on your behalf to negotiate for you. Well here's my situation, I've paid them $23,000 at this point and they have made $3,550 on my behalf to my creditors. AND two of my accounts are in litigation and pending for court dates. So you would assume, $23,000 paid minus $3,550 they have paid would leave me a bit over $18,000 to negotiate minus the fees they have taken, correct? Guess how much my lawyer said he can negotiate for me, $45 DOLLARS!!!!!! yes, that's the fine print, the detail of HOW MUCH fees they actually take. It's not until AFTER the second year that the monthly payments I'm making will actually GO to paying down the rest of my creditors. And in this first two years, whatever damage can be done to you WILL be made. Creditors WILL likely sue you, if you DO go to court, you will need to pay court fees, your credit scores WILL likely tank (like mine) and you will have VERY stressful times. How dare they called themselves HELPING and Debt Relief? it's leaching off of people who are already in desperate situations! Yes, eventually, the program will likely get to paying off your debt...but by that time, you probably have done more damage to yourself than BEFORE joining debt relief. Please PLEASE GO somewhere else. BTW, I just tried to call their customer service, asked for manager and waited 30 mins to talk to one, "MEGAN" is her name and just minutes after me trying to explain the situation, she hangs up on me. Hired company. They did not do anything but collect $20,000 over two years and let all my accounts go to legal action. Per an attorney, once that happens there is little to negotiate debts down. There is no way to be successful in this program and they do not issue refund even though they do not provide the service you hire them for. 1 account I was served with a summons and they failed to answer and I had a default judgment of $24,000. Then the rest I was served with lawsuits ruining my name. when I checked into things, even though their website deceptively said my accounts were in a "pre-settlement" status, showing they were working with creditors, they in fact never communicated with anyone which is why all accounts were assigned to law firms that were litigating against me. This is a scam and I am reporting to the BBB, FTC, Federal and State Attorney General Offices. In retrospect, right off the bat, call your creditors yourself and negotiate reduction and a payment plan. You can skip CLG altogether and be successful. Canyon Legal Group will only screw you by taking your money and then let you rot financially and legally without a care. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. The worst CS I have ever experienced in my entire life. You would be better off calling the creditors yourself and working the debit out yourself, they will be willing to work with you (I wasnt aware of this option). Canyon is a sales company preying on people. Once they get you, they completely forget about you. I was in the program for 3 years, and never got one phone call from anyone! I always had to call them. Finally in April of last year, I got the call that they had my last two accounts settled, I accepted and they lady told me I would be on auto-extend to accommodate the payments. I accepted. Fast fwd to December and I haven't heard from anyone, so I called to follow-up and they told the cancelled me back in Nov because no money was being drafted anymore. I asked why I wasn't informed and they had no answer. Come to find out that the two accounts that were supposed to be settled, never were because they dropped the ball on getting the settlement letter. Now they closed my account and refuse to reopen the account because I have litigated debts (which they caused and didn't follow through on settling) and basically told me I have to deal with the law firms myself. I tried to escalate multiple times but they do not want to deal with me or their blatant mistake. They have constantly dropped the ball and have caused me a lot of grief. Now, I have to try to deal with these law firms myself. Should have never joined this program and should have dealt with this myself from the beginning. Dont let them do this to you!! Canyon Legal Group flat out stole my money. They never had an attorney contact me until they triggered a lawsuit. They urged me to end my program early so I found a way to make excessive payments to my account. Not only did they not finish my program early, they spent the last year doing absolutely NOTHING but billing me fees. During that final year I made dozens of calls to customer service, never speaking with the same person and never speaking to anyone who knew what they were talking about. They finally realized the last debt had been paid for over a year, and instead of refunding the fees they took from me while they did nothing, they also decided to add an additional charge of $729 which materialized out of thin air. I had over $4000 more in my payment account than was needed for almost a year, and when they refunded that amount they kept $729 with no explanation. I now have a tax form on their site that they won't let me access or provide to me. They are simply thieves and completely incompetent. Nobody ever gave me any information that was true, and in the end I paid just as much to settle the debts as I would have on my own, maybe more. Absolute criminal behavior, and I plan to pursue additional legal action against them. I would rather they just go out of business and quit stealing money from people. read more

We have been in their program for over a year. It started slow and then things materialized and creditors were getting paid. I don't agree with the fact that instead of spreading their fees over the length of the contract freeing up more funds for creditors they take them out in the first 20 months or so, by that time more damage has been done to you and your credit score. The negotiators don't seem to have your best interest in mind, presented an offer that required additional monies and gave us very little time to come up with the funds.
