I contacted Jessica Lacy regarding estate planning. I am rather new to this concept and wanted to…read moreplan ahead. I don't exactly like thinking about this stuff... who does??... but she made the experience, uh, palatable! Her main focus and expertise is family law. The Zoom meeting with the attorney was informative and she answered all my questions. She explained things very simply but in detail. I was expecting to have her complete one document but based on her valid suggestions, I decided on less expensive but more effective documents. I am relieved that I've taken the right step to plan for my future and ensure things are handled easier for my child should something happen. About a week or two after I called, the assistant called me to arrange a time to review with Ms Lacy and sign the papers with a notary. The whole process was great and stress-free. The office staff is super friendly and family oriented. (I had originally done some thing else using free web resources years ag.. but Lacy reviewed my paperwork and explained why that wasn't going to hold up in court in Indiana. Oh well! ) The first appointment was easily scheduled via email. I was happy with her location near me, in Cumberland.

I wouldn't use her if she was the last attorney left in Indianapolis. After the hearing she sat and chit chatted with opposing counsel like they were best friends. And don't get me started on Denise; she went through 5k and then told me she didn't want to represent me after she obviously talked to the opposing counsel. And don't get me started on physical appearance; it says a lot about one's discipline, organization and self control.

DO NOT HIRE Attorney Cooper. He did an ok job with getting a POA done when my dad was in the…read morehospital. Then I hired him to help with Medicaid planning - HUGE mistake. I paid a retainer (for more than my dad gets in one month's social security) at the very beginning of October. Jeff was hard to get in touch with at first, but he said he just moved so I understood he had a lot going on. Then we finally talked after almost two weeks and scheduled a follow up. It was a nightmare trying to get a phone call scheduled with him. He kept rescheduling and missing the follow up conversation, without any regard for my time while I was visiting my dad who was in a healthcare crisis. This was at the end of October and the Medicaid application deadline was by 11/1. I could not get in touch with him and I was in town visiting my dad for a week, needing to meet the deadline. On 10/21/25 I emailed Jeff and said I had to hire someone else to help me because we had gotten nowhere for weeks and the stress of trying to get him to work on my dad's application was just too much. I sent him an email, left a voicemail, texts. Jeff then texted me on 10/23 "As mentioned, there's more to this, please be patient". No response after that for over two months despite multiple requests for a refund for SERVICES NOT RENDERED. My dad missed the Medicaid filing deadline because Jeff was so hard to get in touch with. How can you charge a low-income elderly person who is in a healthcare crisis that much money and not work on their case at all? I wish I had googled him before hiring - turns out he's had this issue before with other clients. My patience has run out - we will be filing a complaint with the Indiana Bar Association and taking him to small claims court if my father doesn't receive a refund.
