After our experience buying our home, I feel like I need to share it so other buyers know what our…read moreexperience was like. Our realtor was Eric. This was genuinely one of the most disappointing experiences we have ever had with a realtor. Buying a home is supposed to be an exciting milestone, especially for a family, but throughout this process my husband and I constantly felt like we had to advocate for ourselves, stay on top of things ourselves, ask the questions ourselves, and make sure things were actually being handled. We had done the majority of the work ourselves so his main involvement was handling the offer, contract, and transaction. What made the experience worse was what happened once we were under contract. He advised $5,000 was a good amount to put down for earnest money even though the sellers were under contract 3 different times, been on the market a while and had no offers. There were issues surrounding the condition of the home and what the seller had agreed to do, and instead of feeling like we had someone strongly advocating for us and protecting our interests, we often felt like WE were the ones having to research things, ask questions, push for answers, and make sure we weren't agreeing to something that wasn't what we had originally been promised. For example, the roof became a major issue. We understood that the seller was supposed to replace the roof, and we had written communication indicating it was supposed to be a complete replacement rather than simply putting another layer over the existing roof. When that became an issue, it created an enormous amount of unnecessary stress. This is exactly the type of situation where you expect your realtor to be proactive, knowledgeable, and firmly advocating for you. we never really felt like valued clients. We felt like another transaction and another commission. We had specific terms that were agreed upon with the seller. When the seller later tried to avoid fulfilling some of those obligations, we expected our agent to advocate for us and hold the seller to the agreement. Instead, it felt like he was trying to convince us to compromise and accept the terms the seller no longer wanted to fulfill. As our agent, we expected him to represent our best interests and fight for what had already been agreed upon--not pressure us to give up something simply to make the transaction easier to close And I want to be clear about something -- our disappointment isn't because we expected gifts or anything extravagant. However, after everything we went through, and after purchasing a home that resulted in a significant commission of at least 14-15k, we didn't receive so much as a thank-you card or any meaningful gesture acknowledging our business. After an already frustrating experience, that really reinforced the feeling we had throughout the process: that once the transaction was complete and the commission was earned, we simply didn't matter anymore. I understand that realtors get paid through commissions and this is their profession. But those commissions can amount to thousands of dollars from a single transaction. In exchange for that, I expect more than someone simply being present for the paperwork. Looking back, I genuinely wish we had chosen someone else, possibly a smaller company or an independent realtor who would have appreciated our business and taken more personal responsibility for helping us through the process. For us, the experience felt extremely impersonal and transactional, and we walked away feeling like a paycheck rather than clients who had trusted someone to represent us during one of the biggest purchases we will ever make. Just figured I'd share on here too.

You see, the journey my wife and I embarked on to find a home that we wanted to raise our family in was not without some serious bumps in the road. This "journey" lasted many months. Don and Val arranged and accompanied us on a number of viewings. Throughout the process of looking for a home to buy, our expectations and the things we really wanted in a home shifted. What seemed important sometimes wasn't as important as we thought. What we thought we wanted sometimes didn't matter as much as other things we hadn't thought about initially. Throughout it all, Don and Val were with us every single step of the way. They got to really know us. They answered our many, many questions. They offered insights and made important observations that only come with the many years of hard work they've put into their careers as realtors. When we found the home we now live in, it wasn't as easy as putting in an offer, and going through the various formalities that encompass the home buying process. After Don and Val submitted an offer (which was rejected) and then a counter-offer on our behalf, the seller accepted. The seller, who was also a realtor and representing himself in this transaction, wasn't always as easy to deal with as we would have hoped. When the appraisal came in at $20K under contract, the seller wouldn't budge. But Don and Val worked their magic, and what seemed like a lost cause at one point ended with us finally being able to purchase the home we now live in. It has been nearly a year since we bought our home, and I often remember Don and Val and the hard work they put in to get us into the home of our dreams. Needless to say, this review was long overdue and writing it is the least I can do to express to them my gratitude for all that they did. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a realtor.

Originally starting on this road of finding a house, I was sick of dealing with other realtors who…read moreonly wanted a paycheck rather than delivering top quality customer service, I mean after all when you have life savings being spent I feel that is the least they can do; that is why I decided to go with the Stern Team (based off of reviews and hearing ads). Throughout the process everything seemed to be fine, but as the process grew I became weary that this would just be the same old same old. My wife and I were the ones who found our house not the realtor, I was the one setting up all the appointments, not the realtor and before long I was wondering what it was she was really doing to earn her commission at the end of the day. To her defense she is very nice, and what seemed to be knowledgeable of the market, and she did do the negotiations with the seller (only because I cannot). After everything had been done and we were going to close, I come to find out my realtor was going to be out of town when closing was happening, and she would not be around to give us the keys. She told me that she would go and get the keys and hide them on the property and let me know where they were ones we were funded and recorded. Well that time came and went and wondered where the keys to our new home were.... Well I tried calling her and texting her and no answer, I waited a few hours with no call or text back so I called another realtor in her office, and no one in her office knew anything about what I was talking about. She did not let anyone know what was going on. I then had to convince another realtor in her office to meet me at the house to see if the keys were in the lock box, which I could tell he was very bothered by my request. I was finally able to get a hold of the keys to the house. On top of all of this our realtor didn't give us as much as even a thank you card. Every realtor I have dealt with and every realtor family or friends have dealt with have always given a congratulations gift of some sort as a thank you for the business (even the worst realtors I have dealt with have done this). After all of that I realized that the Stern team is no different than any other realtor and the customer is nothing more than a paycheck to them. I will never go with this team again nor will I ever refer them to anyone I know. Also to let everyone know they charge a "fee" to hire their team, well I can see this fee is nothing more than to get more money out of you. BEWARE!

I had got to know Rick Dalrymple a little through the year and really liked his demeanor and his honesty. He was always willing to answer questions but not be pushy. We found my grandma's home back on the market, and wanted to bring it back into the family... good memories. We approached Rick and he and his team were right on it! It was bank owned this time and he forewarned us that it could take months for us to work with the bank who owned it. We weren't in a rush so not a problem. He kept us up to date every step if the way. He even allowed us to include a letter about the meaning of the house to us in the offer. He was always there for us to text or call. Long story short, he and his team got us approved and we got the house. It was so painless compared to our previous experience.
