Best part of the museum was seeing a putter that JFK used. That is about it. Nice staff, and a little store selling commercial and political trinkets. A try it once event.

I was amazed to see the Tony he won for Dracula in person. The museum is a sight to behold with so many treasures to look through. We enjoyed the scavenger hunt you can complete while walking through the museum (though we could not find the final items needed for a prize) and the docent tour. Our docent Mary Anne was amazing. She really knew so much about Edward Gorey and his life. I loved learning about his love of cats and knowing that the museum still has cats who live on premise today, as well as the charitable giving that has continued well after his death to local animal charities. Well worth a visit. Be sure to drop by the gift shop afterwards as they have a ton of books, shirts, and memorabilia to choose from.

There is some parking off to the side of the house and I was able to get a spot. Make sure that you make reservations on the website prior to coming. You reserve a time slot and pay when you get there. I meandered about before going inside. There's a person sitting just inside the entrance to ask your name and reservation time. It is a darling house with all things Edward Gorey in terms of ephemera. Pictures, books, and bits & bobs. I was hoping to see a cat or two so that was disappointing somewhat. You do only get the first floor as well just to let people know. I did not participate in the docent tour - I just wanted to kind of look and snoop at my own pace. It was very cute and mellow. There was a lot of information and the current type exhibit is amazing (O Sordid Type) - I would recommend that highly. I think if you're a fan, it is worth a visit and they do have a good amount in the gift shop, but nothing appealed to my wallet this go round.

The museum takes you through the history of the whaling industry on Nantucket with historical artifacts and documents from this time. The museum also has a full sperm whale skeleton on display. I was truly in awe by the items we saw on the display. It was educational and I feel I learned a lot. The museum is two floors worth of exhibits and a rooftop deck where you can look out onto the surrounding island. The museum also offered lectures, discussions, and documentaries you could engage with throughout the day. When we arrived they had a schedule displayed for the days events. I felt this was worth the cost of admission and was a must see stop on our trip to Nantucket.

Buy a pass and visit the other Nantucket Historical Association facilities, like Howden House, Great Lights, Fire Station, Old Goal, etc. Great take. Every year they have a rotating exhibition. History of Nantucket, history of whaling, history of baskets (also at Howden House on upper Main Street). Other special events include parties, fund raisers and the Festival of the Trees. The two older kids 8 and 10 obviously got the most out of it but it helps that there are a lot of visuals (displays, photos and video clips.) The kids asked us a few questions. I have to say they said it was ok but later in the night I quizzed them. They were easily able to spit out a few things the learned that day so I would say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Heather, the person who checked us in, we really enjoyed talking to. She amde us laugh, we made her laugh. We lingered for the last 15 minutes of our visit just chatting her up about how she got into sharks and she has some interesting encounters! Thanks Heather for educating and entertaining us! Why not 5 stars... very small. No actual tanks with baby sharks on site and it cost us $30 to get in but it lasted about 30-40 minutes total. In my opinion, not enough bang for my buck.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know and have never met any of the folks involved with this group but I see and hear the results of their work constantly. Just over the past few days (it's 12/30/17 now) they've been involved with 3 shark autopsies that appear to be a result of "cold shock", which basically froze these sharks to death! Whoa. That's crazy cold. I happen to be on the Cape right now and can attest to how cold it is to the point where Cape Cod Bay has frozen over quite a bit, which is insane when you realize it's SALT water! Anyway, these folks are doing really cool, important and interesting work - glad they are!

We had plenty of time to ask questions, and really good dialogue! Clean, well-lit, nice facility. We rented a Jeep, and there was plenty of parking. It is a little bit of a trek, you will need to either rent a car, uber/taxi, or bike it. Lovely area, and was just nice to sit outside, and sip on a cold water and take the sights in.

The gift shop had a great selection of items to choose from and we picked up a lovely print. Tickets were $10 per adult. The tour takes you to the top of the lighthouse which requires a lot of climbing and fitting into narrow spaces. Our tour guide Ken was the best! He helped to enhance our experience with his knowledge of the lighthouse and the historical information shared. He was also very conscious of our safety and made me feel at ease despite how narrow some of the climbing areas got. He was happy to chat with us and answered any questions we had. Highland lighthouse is the oldest and tallest lighthouse on Cape Cod. The views are absolutely worth the climb, as well as all of the historical background. Well worth the $10. Happy we made it in time for the last tour of the day. It was a one of a kind experience.
