There was a maze outside, beautiful trees, and plenty of parking, that was well hidden from your sight when you stood outside the theatre. Little theatres like this go to show you that even though you are a community theatre, you don't have to suck at your productions. With a little elbow grease, you can make a low budget show seem like a million dollar budget. I think this theatre (if it keeps it up) is worth every dime of ticket sales.

It's a great little Cape Cod village with a Harbor, which features the ferries to the Islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. They are great rides, even if just going for the day. There is remote parking in the north part of Falmouth and the ferry company runs frequent shuttle buses along the Woods Hole Rd to the Ferry dock. We had done both ferries in the past but only had 2 days in town on this trip, but if you have time, do each one, they are beautiful places. We stopped by the MBL labs first as there are parts open to the public and we love the view of Eel Pond from there. We noticed a free public tour starting and though not needing one ourselves, we chatted with the tour guide. She is a third generation Woods Hole resident and scientist, 2 generations at the MBL and the earliest generation was at WHOI. Amazing credentials and clearly a love for the place. I love the MBL as well as Woods Hole itself, but have only been a regular since the late 60s. The facility has a great science library and several buildings of research labs, with some research boats docked behind the complex along Eel Pond. We saw a new building that has been opened since we were last here long term and it was crafted of the same stone as the nearby stone buildings. The very earliest research buildings are the brick ones along the streets of the intersection. But the oldest of all is the "Candle House" which is so historic, it predates the labs and it is built of very old stone, a New England classic. We spent a year here in the early 80s and it was so much fun, even in winter. No tourists that time of year, just scientists, their families and some small eateries but fewer restaurants and shops. It is really getting too dense for me, but every minute there is worth the crowds. It was also hotter this trip than I ever remember over the 5 decades we have visited. True here in Boulder this summer too. They also have a separate gift shop, as back in the 80s, they just sold logo T-shirts from the chemical supply counter in the old building basement. Decades later they established a detached Gift Shop along Water Street and that will bring me to my next review of a separate destination of this trip.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) buildings (and U. of Chicago Marine Biological Laboratory) buildings are sprinkled throughout the town of Falmouth. WHOI buildings open to the public include (1) the visitor center and store, (2) a discovery center (museum) and (3) an aquarium. This review is for the visitors center and gift shop that is located on the main street as well as the discovery center that is located on a side street. My husband and I first stopped at the Visitor Center and Store on the drag street of what I assume is downtown Falmouth. The store sells ocean and ship themed t-shirts, hoodies and insulated cups and other "science-y" souvenirs. The store was very organized and everything was neatly displayed. We didn't buy anything but we had a lovely conversation with the very helpful employee who gave us a map of the area and made recommendations for lunch spots as well as how to find the WHOI Discovery Center and WHOI aquarium. Next we visited the Discovery Center which is appropriately located in a beautiful historic school. We found the introduction video about what WHOI does very helpful and we enjoyed the exhibits in the brightly lit space. I was surprised to learn that the 60-year-old Alvin mini-sub that is famous for taking explorers to the Titanic is still in service. I enjoyed being able to scan a QR code with my phone to see the real time position of WHOI's research vessels. The Discovery Center is donation based and like any good museum, there is a gift shop at the end. As far as parking, street parking is the name of the game in this part of Falmouth. We found a spot at a parking meter and walked to the Visitor Center, Discovery Center, aquarium and lunch.

Everything has an oceanic theme. There are books about New England's haunted lighthouses, the exploration of the Titanic, Cape Cod cookbooks, fun for the whole family.

It's free to walk through it with donation boxes available. They have a cute shop with gifts and trinkets for kids. Had a great time this past Saturday night at Paint it! I popped in to check it out in the…read moreafternoon and was surprised to see a lot of kids having a blast painting during a guided painting lesson. My husband and I decided to sign up for the evening session. We arrived at 6:45 for the 7pm class which left us plenty of time to grab some dinner on Main Street before. Our "classmates" included a very low key bachelorette party who brought their own adult beverages (awesome perk!!) and snacks, a mother and son, along with a group of friends celebrating a birthday. The owners were very friendly and knowledgable. The artist was amazing and was able to bring out the best artist in all of us! Definitely a great way to celebrate any occasion or just spend a night doing something different. Perfect location for large parties or private events.
