A few days later and he rolled up in his truck and I got my first ever taste of real grass fed beef. Now, Lance is delivering to 4 locations across HRM, and 90% of my meat comes from a really nice guy who lives less than an hour away. Ok, enough backstory, down to what you came for. I've eaten lamb in 4 provinces in Canada, England, and New Zealand, and Lance's lamb is far and away the best I have ever had (sorry Kiwis!). We're talking bone sucking, dripping off the chin kind of good. There's a reason why, when I asked my 2 year old daughter what her favourite meat is, she immediately said "lamb"! The pork chops, roasts, and bacon are all top notch. I never really liked pork because I found it dry and flavourless, but this is because mass-produced pigs are raised to be as lean as possible, don't have a varied diet, and never get any exercise. The pork chops you'll get from lance are rich and full of flavour; I truly believe that I hadn't really eaten pork until I had the free range variety. The sausages are also phenomenal, particularly the spinach feta - those bad boys are sucked down by my borderline vegetarian in-laws like you wouldn't believe. Is the meat slightly more expensive than what you get at Sobey's? Yes. Is it better for you? Hell yeah, Omega 3's, baby. Is it much higher quality? Ab-so-freakin-lutely. Give your money to a hard working guy who's busting his chops (har, I crack myself up) in the local economy to provide great meat.

This is extremely helpful if you are traveling because it cuts down on what you have to bring, but it is also helpful if this is your first time kayaking. The boots that they provide are great and I highly recommend them. While you do not have to step into the water a lot, they will keep you feet warm if they get wet. They also have some jackets and gloves depending on what time of year you go out. The kayaks and paddles were all in good repair, and I saw all the safety equipment I would expect to see with a trip of this nature. Our guide Liam was very kind and funny. He added to the quality of the trip because of his knowledge of the geology and local tribal lore about the Bay of Fundy. Liam also provided good instruction about kayaking and made sure that the group was safe and successful. Now the location is what makes this trip amazing. We went on the high tide paddle which I would highly recommend. When we paddled out, you were able to paddle amongst the rocks of the three sisters, go into natural coves and amphitheaters and even two sea caves. It was great fun to be able to paddle through the arch at high tide as well. At the "midway" you make it to a beach where you are able to get out and we enjoyed a bowl of chili and some great snacks. While you are on the beach the tides turn and start flowing out so as you head back you see the speed at which the tides flow out of the Bay of Fundy. Areas that you previously kayaked through are now unaccessible because of the change of water height, so you see it through a whole new lens. The tidal change actually gives you a push back to where you put in, so the paddling is even easier on the way back in. The scenery here is unbelievable and we saw a bald eagle soaring overhead on our trip. Nova Shores puts together a great adventure.and I would return to take one of their longer trips as well. I was in great company all day, I was…read morewell-equipped with everything we could need for the day, I felt at-ease and confident in the safety protocols we followed all day, and I had some of the best homecooked food of my life out on a remote rocky beach shore only accessible by boat. I learned so much about the mythology, geology, and ecology of this foggy corner of the earth, but I was most impressed by the good-natured warmth of character that emanates from every single person that works for this kayak tour company. They stoke contagious good humour and an inspired curiosity about the earth and all its creatures.

There are bathrooms here as well, if you're brave enough and a little souvenir/ice cream/café across the street that I guess also doubles as a camp ground office (there is a camp ground across the street as well). We stopped to enjoy the view here on the way to Cape Split, a great stopping spot for views, leg stretching and ice cream!

Five Islands Provincial Park has a lot of offer - camping, hiking, ocean and cliffs…read more With over 90 campsites, campers will love the wide selection of sites here. Most places are wooded, but one section of the campground is right along the top of the cliff offering fantastic views of the ocean. Heading to the water and muddy beach, you'll enjoy the 300 foot cliffs from below. Being on the Bay of Fundy, you'll have to consider the tides to make sure you don't get caught during the rising tide. There is a great rock formation at the end of the beach that makes for the perfect walking end point, and a great spot to take pictures. Back on top of the cliff, you can find three hiking trails. They can be completed separately, or combined to make a 7.2 km loop. We decided to do this. It took 2-3 hours to finish the loop. The hikes starts out steep, but is mostly flat elsewhere. Boulderwood is located approximately 45 minutes outside of Halifax, near the Mount Uniacke area. When you arrive, you'll see a big red barn and a white house. The owner, James, will be quick to greet you along with some of his staff and pets. They'll ask you to sign a safety waiver and provide you with a helmet and any other equipment you need, and quickly get you saddled up into the horses. The trail lasts abouts 1 hour as one of the staff members guides the trail ride through the woods and one follows at the back. Most of the ride will be slow paced, allowing you to take in the scenery, with the occasion trot or canter. I have been to Boulderwood on several times, and can honestly say for ~$30, it's well worth the money and everyone always has a great time. It's especially nice to go in the fall when the leaves are changing colours. We' re also looking forward to doing a winter trail-ride in the snow. Overall, always a great experience and I'd highly recommend others to check it out.

An amazing stay. This camp ground is full of many things to do and near by places to explore…read more We camped out for 2 nights. The price is extremely reasonable. It was around $26 a night. This includes Parking for one. To add another car in (to camp on your site is $8). It's worth it. Camp fires are a must so make sure you pick up your firewood from the office. Bundles are very well priced at $5 each. Well with it as they are hefty bundles. We camped at site 31 it was the best because it was shaded and a little more private. I would recommend site 31, 32, and 33. They have fire pits, a table, and lots of space to have 2 or 3 large tents. The hike is with it. It's not very difficult but it's got some great views. It took us about 1 hour 45 minutes. We walked slow the way up and fast the way back. The campground was not loud at all. Because of the trees it gave a little more privacy and didn't carry sound from site to site. Overall highly recommended :)
