Having said that, being in the tidal bore is a contact sport. It's possible to fall out of the boat. And on our trip, my 14-year-old daughter fell out on the largest wave of the day along with two others on that side of the raft. When that happens, like in white water rafting, everyone on the boat participates in the rescue. Luckily my daughter is a good swimmer... we were actually more concerned about the two other ladies as our guide JD maneuvered the boat so we could full everyone back in, When my daughter got back in she had cut up both her legs and one of the wounds was bleeding pretty well. Almost immediately the lookout boat came and gave my daughter first aid for her cuts right there. Then when we got back to shore (this all happened right near the end of the ride) one of their staffers who was also a paramedic treated her cuts, which thankfully were superficial but bled well because they were on her calves. I mention all of this because this is an activity that while fun, can be dangerous. And it was so impressive that when something happened Tidal Bore had staff on hand both in the water and on shore to handle it. They could not have been more professional. There were other companies out on the water but I did not see any other first aid boats (I'm not saying they didn't exist but every other boat I saw out there was rafting, not watching). This is the company you want to do this activity with. They gave us a great time, and took care of our daughter when the going got a little tough. I would give them ten stars if I could. JD was a pro's pro, and both the first aid rafter and the paramedic guide were the best (I wish I could remember their names). I don't know if when we will be back to Nova Scotia, but when we are we will raft the tidal bore again, and it will be with the best prepared, most professional company there is, Fundy Tidal Bore Adventures.

You then make a short walk down to the receded bay to start the adventure. We were so lucky to have Tessa as our guide! She is a geologist and taught us so much about the rocks/formations we passed and made sure we had such a great time! When we hit those waves our raft was more like a tub it was so filled with water, but it was hilarious. After you get back the team is ready with hot showers, snacks and hot chocolate. As a side note - if you didn't want to wear your own shoes during the trip, they have heaps from those people left behind. Understandable, I left mine too after the amazing time in the water and the mud sliding. Will update with pics when they send us the link. Worth every cent!

I was lucky to get paired with a couple (only 3 guests on the boat) that were up for as wild a ride as mother nature & Jason were willing to provide. It was a brisk June morning, and the water was chilly (especially when it splashes down your back), but the survival suits made a huge difference for post dousing warm-up. We saw well over a dozen eagles, amongst other feathered friends. All the tidal bore companies are off the beaten path a bit, so opt for the slightly longer trip at only an extra $20/pp (it's worth it). The hot chocolate / coffee / cookies after the trip were a welcome treat. They have towels if you need'm for post-trip showers. Jason said the waves were the highest he'd seen thus far this year, which was great. The boat trip wasn't quite as wild as I was expecting (compared to the intensity of some white-water rafting), but a very good time. They have the estimated wave intensity schedule posted on their website, pay close attention to that when planning your trip (should you want more or less chaos). If you have a wet suit (or water shoes), you may want to bring with you, as the water can be cold (my feet were very chilly). If you're susceptible to cold, this may not be the trip for you (but ambient & water temperatures vary). If I were to make suggestions to the owner, I'd propose bringing a canister of hot chocolate and of coffee to hand out to guests during a lull (maybe by the bridge), to help warm people up on the cooler days; and maybe gloves with rubber grips, as holding onto the ropes for a long time in cold water can chaff waterlogged hands/fingers.

An amazing stay. This camp ground is full of many things to do and near by places to explore…read more We camped out for 2 nights. The price is extremely reasonable. It was around $26 a night. This includes Parking for one. To add another car in (to camp on your site is $8). It's worth it. Camp fires are a must so make sure you pick up your firewood from the office. Bundles are very well priced at $5 each. Well with it as they are hefty bundles. We camped at site 31 it was the best because it was shaded and a little more private. I would recommend site 31, 32, and 33. They have fire pits, a table, and lots of space to have 2 or 3 large tents. The hike is with it. It's not very difficult but it's got some great views. It took us about 1 hour 45 minutes. We walked slow the way up and fast the way back. The campground was not loud at all. Because of the trees it gave a little more privacy and didn't carry sound from site to site. Overall highly recommended :)

A few days later and he rolled up in his truck and I got my first ever taste of real grass fed beef. Now, Lance is delivering to 4 locations across HRM, and 90% of my meat comes from a really nice guy who lives less than an hour away. Ok, enough backstory, down to what you came for. I've eaten lamb in 4 provinces in Canada, England, and New Zealand, and Lance's lamb is far and away the best I have ever had (sorry Kiwis!). We're talking bone sucking, dripping off the chin kind of good. There's a reason why, when I asked my 2 year old daughter what her favourite meat is, she immediately said "lamb"! The pork chops, roasts, and bacon are all top notch. I never really liked pork because I found it dry and flavourless, but this is because mass-produced pigs are raised to be as lean as possible, don't have a varied diet, and never get any exercise. The pork chops you'll get from lance are rich and full of flavour; I truly believe that I hadn't really eaten pork until I had the free range variety. The sausages are also phenomenal, particularly the spinach feta - those bad boys are sucked down by my borderline vegetarian in-laws like you wouldn't believe. Is the meat slightly more expensive than what you get at Sobey's? Yes. Is it better for you? Hell yeah, Omega 3's, baby. Is it much higher quality? Ab-so-freakin-lutely. Give your money to a hard working guy who's busting his chops (har, I crack myself up) in the local economy to provide great meat.
