Went for a ombre, and left with severally damaged hair. For a start I knew my hair was a bit damaged from past bleaching, but I never had my hair this badly damaged before. I have gone to other salons, and they have left my hair beautiful.( Even low end salons didn't leave my hair like this)But I saw this, and I wanted to give it a try. The stylists who own this shop are masters: Joey and Matt. Both were trained at Vidal Sassoon. That means scissor cuts, not clippers. They take pride in their customers, and they take pride in the work. The cuts are competitively priced for such a high level of expertise. Okay, the atmosphere is like a cave, loud at times. Amazing first experience. Came in after having such a bad hair color & cut elsewhere...and I have high expectations. So was really nervous - I chose Capelli after lots of research and had an appointment with Lexi. She's really good! I brought pictures - people should really do this, go on Pinterest and pull a bunch that show exactly what you want!!! And Lexi did it. She got me, nailed the color. And we are on a path to fixing my cut (you need time to get rid of a layered mullet :///). She was honest, straight up and LISTENED TO ME. Awesome sauce. My parents own the cleaners right next to the Capelli shop and one day my mom went in to get a haircut from Shannon. It's so convenient for her because her old hair dresser used to be 45 min away. she loved Shannon and recommended that I get my hair done there. I got my ombre hair touched up there and she listened to every little bit that i wanted and made my hair awesome. I am absolutely in love with my hairstyle now and can't wait to keep going back! :) Also, since the shop is fairly new, the place is spotless. I already love the products that I bought there and the woman that works the front desk is very friendly. She's welcoming and will ask you right away if you would like a beverage. I LOVE my hair cut!! I had a very bad hair cut about 3 months ago at another salon -it looked like I had been hit with a weed whacker on one side of my head. I knew I would have to lose some inches to get back to normal, something I was not looking forward to. Joey did a great job evening me back out, removing dull and split ends, but still leaving enough length. My hair still feels long and feminine; the cut is modern, versatile, and looks great. The salon itself is fun, young and a refreshing addition to Newtown. I was really worried I would have to drive all the way into Philadelphia to find a stylist who can relate to my age and style (hipster/punk/rock/yet sophisticated,sexy and sleek.) My search is over! I have only loved my hair by 2 hair stylists in my life and Lori is one of them! I started going to Lori almost 2 years ago and have loved the color and styles she has done in that time. My hair was long and I wanted a change. Lori and I worked to get me ready to make the change to short and she explained how we were going to get there so I was able to relax. I love my hair style and the color is always spot on! The amount of compliments I get on my hair has been awesome!! Shanna is great too! She started as an assistant to Lori, would apply my color and wash. She quickly became my bud and another reason to enjoy my time at the salon! While I've only had her do my hair once when Lori was away, it's only because of Lori and her magic. I miss seeing Shanna when I come in and if you're looking for someone to do your hair you must check Shanna out! Her personality is awesome! So I had really long hair and I finally thought it was time to get a healthy cut. I was able to get an appointment with Matt same day and so I took advantage. When you arrive they check your temperature and ask you some Covid questions. I was seated for my appointment and I told Matt what I had in mind and instead he recommended something else. I totally trusted his judgment and needless to say I'm glad I went with his recommendation. I love my hair! Now if I can just place Matt in my pocket I'd be even happier. The salon is small but cute. Found this salon on yelp, read the reviews and decided to give it a try since my pervious hair cuts have not done any justice to my hair, and my cut is EASY long layered. I booked an appt with Shannon. I wanted partial highlights and for her to "fix" the layers that were messed up. Although the price was a bit higher than I wanted to spend, it was worth it! The salon is so delightful, everyone is so friendly, offering you drinks and making sure you are happy. Shannon fixed my cut and gave me perfect coloring. I will be going back! read more

This spot used to be a place where the old ladies got their hair set, which is hard to believe when you look at it today. The new owners made it a really sleek, modern space complete with a vintage barbershop chair. The place serves both men and women, and they did a great job making it a neutral place - you don't feel like you're in a barbershop or an uppity salon. I got a great haircut by Matt. I rarely go in to a hair salon with a specific cut in mind; I just let the stylist do what they think would look good. It came out great. Also, they have beer. Which is awesome. My appointment was at 9 am so I had to pass on it, but next time I'll probably make an appointment after noon. read more

She really understood the looks that my mom, my bridesmaids and I were going for (we all had different ideas!) and our and make up hair looked amazing--better than the pictures we brought in. i LOVE this shop. Want a fabulous haircut in an upscale (but comfortable) place in Newtown, without feeling like you're surrounded by The Real Housewives of Newtown drama? Here is where you go. I have Stefanie cut my hair (followed her from Salon Prive - which was drama-central) and she consistently does a magnificent job. My mother-in-law started going to her, too. She actually takes the time to look at your face shape, your fair texture, what it will/won't do naturally, and cuts it quickly and beautifully so that it looks good for weeks. I had a huge gathering that my boyfriend and I go to every year in Vermont with friends and I was really looking forward to feeling sexy and fresh with a new style. This was by far one of the worst hair experiences I have EVER encountered. I was beyond disappointed with the outcome. Here it is in a nutshell.... I was referred to Capelli by a coworker friend of mine and was told that some of their stylists specialize in blonde color. The stylist I originally asked for was unavailable so I ask the receptionist if she could steer me in the direction of someone with just as much experience and she said that all of their stylists were very well versed in color and cut. I trusted her recommendation and was very excited to book the appointment. I told her what I wanted over the phone and she quoted me a price of $140 which included a cut and blow dry. "Perfect", I thought! I get to the salon about 10-15min early and was greeted by the manager who offered me some tea. This made me happy because I LOVE tea. While I sat in the waiting area my appointment came and it went. It took about 20-30min for the stylist to begin working on me even after sitting in her chair. She did say she was sorry for the wait so I was not agitated at this point YET. She seemed very sweet and said that she was 21 and that she has been doing hair for 5yrs. I was impressed at first but then when she started working on me I could tell she was a bit green. I started doing the math and began realizing that she probably just got out of school not that long ago. Hey, no biggie I thought! The receptionist said she was great, so she must be! I showed her a picture of what I wanted which was the same thing I explained to the receptionist on the phone. The stylist said, "No problem I can do this for you". But when she didn't even bring me a sample of the color blonde I wanted or ask me where I parted my hair I began to worry a little bit when she started applying color right away. She was very slow when she worked and while looking at the time pass over 3hrs I started realizing that I wasn't going to have time to have her cut or give me a blow dry. While the color sat on my head the shampoo girl started using a very thin comb to go through my VERY thick wet hair which was uncomfortable. I also started feeling a bit of a slight stinging/burning sensation from the product on my scalp I'm pretty sure from being on for too long. The stylist told the girl that she was good to wash out the color yet for some reason it took her an additional 5 to 10 minutes to rinse. Now my head feels like it's ON FIRE! She was taking what seemed like FOREVER to get the color out to the point that I really thought my hair was going to begin falling out. I told the girl of this pain and she just told me that she never heard of that before from a customer and that I probably just had really sensitive skin. I said, "No that this wasn't the case, that I get my hair done all the time and I have had blonde treatments on many other occasions". I asked her to rinse it out and she replied with zero urgency that she would do it as soon as she could. By this time my head was on FIRE! 4-5 more minutes go by and I again ask her to please get the color out of my hair! Finally when she does rinse the top of my head she burns me with HOT water not asking me once if the water temperature was ok. I had to tell her at least 4 times that it was very hot and if she could turn it down. Once she finished rinsing after a 4hr long procedure I said not to worry about the cut and blow dry because I didn't have time to stay. They didn't seem to care that I was very disappointed that I wasn't getting the full experience of what I had gone there for in the first place. When I finally had to pay the receptionist told me that I owed $165 and I almost hit the floor! This was not the original amount that was told to me over the phone. I was furious by this point and asked to speak to the manager. The receptionist gave me an annoyed dirty look and called him over. He simply said that because I got a glaze on my hair was why it was more money regardless if I got a cut and a blow dry. No one told me anything about glaze on the phone. He then proceeded to give me a free hair cut card! I have been in the customer service industry my entire life and this by far was less than satisfactory. I should have at least gotten a discount especially walking out of there with wet hair, no cut or blow dry a burnt scalp and a different price amount. I'm sorry to say but I will never recommend Capelli Salon to anyone I know and I will never return again free hair cut card or not! I'm not one to complain like this but this experience was one that needed to be shared so that others don't have an expensive and disappointing experience before an event like I did! read more

They did an absolutely fabulous job on my daughter's hair. It looked great. The place was really nice and clean. They offered me a drink several times and even hung up my coat when I wasn't looking. All of the staff was very friendly. But when we were done, I was not expecting a $200 bill. Apparently, that's how much an ombre is. I asked how much when I called to make an appointment the day before describing that she just wanted the ends lighter. They said that it was called an ombre and said it depends on what they do. When I went to the website, I just assumed it would be a cut and half highlights since an ombre is not listed. I guess it's really my fault for not getting the details before they did the work, but I just never expected it to be that much. Definitely go if you got the money. read more

Please don't bother and save your $. They clearly don't care for your business. Not sure what to make out of the way I got treated - you be the judge. I am south-asian, male, just to put things in perspective and for the owners to know who is leaving this review. I had a schedule appointment and called in out of courtesy to say I am running few minutes late (literally 5-10 mins behind) and that I am already on my way. I get a call after 10mins saying its going to be tight since I am running late & they wont be able to take me in, I would have to reschedule it. Really? So if I hadn't called in to give you heads up and showed up 10mins late then what? A 10min delay is a reason to not take in a customer who is 2 mins away for reaching there? or is there another reason. They have the audacity to tell me I am late by 5-10 mins so its cutting in tight. I requested to speak to the hairstylist, Joey, who would not take a min to get on the phone to persoanly apologize for whatever valid reason there maybe. If your time is valuable then so is ours.
