I'd like to start with his therapist, Glory. She had such a great way to connect with these kids, and was able to get to the root of my son's issues. It was a tough road, but life can be very tough, and he managed to get through on the otherside. Like any parent reaching out for help, I was VERY apprehensive, and some of these reviews scared me to be honest. We had an absolutely positive and successful experience. My son will tell you that it was life-changing for him. One that would be that he's never felt more accepted or understood. He will also say that it was the best food he's ever had! I had lots of things to change withinThey myself when he got out, and cooking was one of those things. All humor aside, it was very emotional when it came time for him to leave. He was in tears, his peer's were in tears, and to be honest, it was emotional on all of us. I'd also like to say that it is a very fine-tuned establishment. They have family weekends that we looked forward to, and they allowed families to be involved in therapy and activity. They kept in touch with us quite frequently, and if I needed to get a hold of my son, they were all available to speak with me and make time for him to talk with us. The accommodations were outstanding, as each teen had a queen bed, a clean bathroom, and kitchen facilities. They had a living room with boardgames, television and just a quaint gathering area. They were also able to incorporate his school with this program, and also gave one on one assistance which was more than he was getting just being in school and being home. My son had mentioned many other therapists that he also loved, but it has been awhile and I cannot remember their names. We cannot name one negative about Paradigm, and I'm sharing this as a parent with a great experience and no other affiliation to this establishment. Within days, they made him feel like family, and we couldn't me more thankful.

With other therapists I could tell what type of textbook techniques they were using and it didn't feel very genuine or helpful. I really only needed them to manage 4 medications (lithium, Quetiapine, lamotrigine and propranolol) no controlled substances. The dosages were already figured out. All the work had already been done for them. I also listed a bunch of other PRNs that I had tried while in treatment that i wasn't currently taking. Again no controlled substances, they were trazadone, gabapentin, hydroxyzine. I've been a RN for over 12 years, I was the supervisor on the first acute care floor in central tx to take on covid. The first wave really did a number on me that caused a lot of my PTSD. Anyway, what im trying to say is I tell people when they haven't been honest with me, to avoid being resentful toward them. When I tried to set up this appointment to see a PA for medication management I was denied because I was too "high acuity." What happened before that was me giving Christopher Keener some honest feedback on his response time. They wouldn't confirm the appointment until they had a credit card on file. Before I could put my husband's credit card on file I had to fill out a release of information form. Which made me feel like a criminal that had to prove my innocence. Credit card information has nothing to do with HIPAA. I have never heard or been asked to do this before. I was told I would be called as soon as it was in. I did it right away, waited, emailed to see if he received it, waited a little longer, tried to access my portal to enter the card but it hadn't been set up, I called back got someone different they said they sent him a message and he would be calling back in 20mins, it never happened that day. I wanted to get it done because I was finishing up treatment the next day and wouldn't have my phone on me. They would only hold the spot for 24hrs and i was worried I'd loose it. No attempt was made to reach out to me for clarification, no doc to doc was requested. Just a refusal. The corespondance is copied and pasted below. Notice the times. I gave him some honest feedback about response time at 11:46 and the refusal was sent at 11:52. I think somebody(Christopher Keener) may have got in their feelings and did this passive aggressive lash out. I'm really surprised that a therapist(Christopher keener) could have such thin skin. Later that day I got a notification for an appointment the following day, which I was not available for. It was very confusing and I wasn't sure who to contact. The therapist later apologized and said she would get in touch about our next session, even though we had established a weekly schedule, but she never followed up. A week later I canceled services and had nothing but $300 in fees.

I can imagine that the positive reviews of this place are only because they haven't experienced a…read moredifferent therapy office so they have nothing to compare it too. That was me before we switched away from KidTherapy and to another PT. My daughter saw Jenny for PT about 3 times before we switched. The front desk staff are nice, but Jenny started our sessions 5-10 minutes late all 3x (which is significant when the session is only 30 minutes). She would oftentimes be rushing through the front door when we were in the lobby as her first patient for the day. She was a lovely person, but now it angers me to realize how my daughter was not receiving proper guidance & care. During our evaluation she took zero notes; just drew little drawings to try to show me what exercises to do at home. The evaluation at the other office had a full rubric/the PT took notes on her computer, etc. Multiple times Jenny would tell me "You should be a PT!" when I would share my observations of my daughter's gross motor skills. And I kept thinking "I'm only doing this because she's not receiving the guidance that she needs." I would leave appointments feeling more overwhelmed and had more questions than I arrived having. Jenny would frequently ask me to remind her what we did last time or what exercises we were working on; things that should have been recorded by the professional we were paying for the session. Overall, it was not a professional experience and I was right to trust my gut and try a different therapy center, because the difference has been night and day. My daughter has made more progress elsewhere in 1 session than she did in 3 sessions over 1.5 months at KidTherapy.
